Sovereignty MUST be resolved in a peacefully way and without harming the right of the colonisers or islanders, as UN and most of civilized countries proposed. Britain NEVER ruled the Islands before 1833, never claim sovereignty before 1833. More than this Britain abandoned clandestine Port Egmont in 1767. They only come back in 1833.

Here's something you've appearantly never thought of. EVERY country in the western hemisphere became independent through self determination. Con el conocimiento de estos hechos, si un día los indígenas declararon que la tierra llamada Argentina fue invadida por extranjeros y ocupadas ilegalmente, y exigieron el retorno de la soberanía a los tribus indígenas, me pregunto lo que la defensa del gobierno argentino sería. También me pregunto cómo similares esta defensa sería la de la defensa británica sobre las Malvinas.

@ClassValedictorian No you are wrong, Spain don´t claim anymore any land in Argentina,there is no Sovereignty problem. Nowadays Spain possible claim has already prescribed. You have to maintain your claim alive. In this case from 1833, Argentina NEVER accepted the British invasion, therefore constantly claims those islands. Argentina effectively ruled from 1820-33

@jonboy1973 91 years elapsed between the 1850 Convention of Settlement which expressly stated the Argentine Confederation had no further pending issues with Great Britain. It was only in 1941 that the Argentine congress mentioned the Falklands again - perhaps they thought Great Britain would not fight for the isles as it was busy fighting to halt the barbarity of Nazi aggression. ALL territorial disputes ended 160 years ago. The Falklands Islands are legally and rightfully British territory.

Self-determination is not applicable; islanders are not a Nation or Ethnic group. They don´t have a distinctive language or culture. They are not native, only imported British people, who wants to remain British obviously. In addition, UN Resolution 2065 excludes Self-determination to this case, is a SOVEREIGNTY ISSUE which must be resolved.UN asked several times for dialogue.
