i had the same wird thing too i threw my cat in they air and he landed on his back 0__o i was like wtF?!?!?!?

The only reason he didn't is because he was hanging on the string. He thought he could climb up it.

LOL! Part of the process of landing on their feet is to tuck in their front legs. When they were extended to catch the toy, s/he couldn't balance, and ended up crashing. :P
