... vintage oscillators w/ sine waves & LFO... it was not "samples" but pure electronic signal manipulated... you can (briefly) see this machine on screen in the second video of this concert titled "program!"...

so is the scratch sound actually a noisy oscillator? Certainly have very fluid control over the sound with the ribbon.
