  • yooo...why are so many people hating on this song the dead did a good job

  • this song sucks, sorry

  • Fukengruven!!!!

  • Of all the covers of this song this is by far the worst! Now I understand why you deadheads smoke so much dope!

  • @schachchess Cover? LOL

Me thinks you are off the mark my friend.

  • @venniey Cover? LOL - Want does this comment mean? Bonnie Dodson is the original artist. So this is a cover, no question mark!

I'm off the mark then please direct me to one worst than this.

  • @schachchess This song was written by Long John Baldry many years ago. He is the original artist. You can look that up. And yes, this version is really bad! Couldn't even listen to it.

  • @babybug80 Negative! Look it up on wikipedia. Bonnie Dodson is the original artist.

  • @schachchess You are most definately right. I just read an interview with her in 1993 I think, about the song... always good to learn something new. This version is still the worst though!

  • I guess it doesnt matter anyway

  • O man Carl this takes me back got the groove

  • Great album summer of 67... I saw them Live that dec in NYC in the Village Theatre which later became the Fillmore East..the place was barely half sold out.....Great concert....

  • @Skrill3xISdope- it was written by bonnie dobson in 1962

  • well there is no need for you to be worrying about all those people

you never see those people anyway.

  • does anybody know the name of song came from? well i have reason to believe that it is related to tht it goes along with theory about, cows, when they shit the next morning really early in the morning when its really dewy outside there will be shrooms growing under the cow shit. so the song take me out in the MORNING DEW. like this you think im correct im just curious.

  • @SkrIll3xISdope it is about nuclear holocaust....and what comes after.

  • @SkrIll3xISdope that is a great theiry, i would like to beleive this

  • Damned good bassline going on.

  • Aaaaah......the memories !

  • * * * * *

  • How could someone NOT KNOW if this is Jer?!

    Obviously it's Jer.

It's pretty easy to tell who is who most of the time, they all have such distinctive voices.

And they're all beautiful ones, too.

  • that first guitar strum after the symbols<3

  • I guess it doesnt matter anyway

  • I like the Jeff Beck version on 'Truth' better. It is much more dramatic.

  • is this an album version? i always preferred a slower version of this song.

  • @SAMDEJAEGER1 man you're just contributing to the hate.

  • I listened to this song every morning when waking up at Bonaroo this summer. Couldn't imagine starting the days any way else.

  • ahh - the sixties -

No road from here to there - too bad -

    Well, memory lane, I guess

  • @Aliyilya ------------ I hear ya on that, but at least we have that much, or what's left of it anyways!

  • ahh - the sixties -

No road from here to there - too bad

  • just watched magic trip! god how i wish i lived in the sixties, good times :)

  • this is jerry singing. cant believe some of you are having trouble telling.

  • @zendishwasher2 Thank You!

  • Why would you care about people unsure who is singing.

They like it and you should just be glad they like it.

  • @vsquyres i dont know it seems obvious to me but maybe it's just because i have been listening to the dead for a long time.

  • I understand,,,I think we all recognizes our favorites,

I can pick Jagger, tom petty, eric clapton, stevie nicks, morrison, Dylan, neil young, Alvin lee, Stevie ray and many others very easy.,

  • @zendishwasher2 some peoples kids eh

  • Kinda reminds me of the doors, Jim coulda killed the vocals on this song, but I stil love Weir.

  • @MountainTaoist yeah true!!!

  • jerry jimi janis i fill my feelings for more

  • ive heard the live versions so many times, that this one studio cut is just so fresh. i like it alot!

  • This version sucks. Way rushed.

  • @kjrandom Seriously? I think it's beautiful!!! Bobs rhythm guitar work is outstanding along with Jerry and Pigpens organ. All the instruments on this track speak to eachother and I think this is one of Jerrys greatest vocal efforts.

  • @Django5198 Yeah seriously... Live versions are slow, long, and haunting. This one sounds like they're just trying to get to the end.

  • One of my favorite songs of all times! Fillmore East 1971 is my favorite version- I love the guitar solos. But, this original is my second favorite. I'm reminded of the Viet Nam War and how it seemed so unnecessary. But, as an Airborne Ranger, I always keep in mind that our warriors don't fight for ideas. They fight for each other and they follow orders. So, in honor of our warriors, this song will be played at my funeral. Who cares if nobody GETS IT! HOOAH! RANGERS LEAD THE WAY! 2BN 75 Rgr Rgt

  • I WANNA CRY!! everytime i hear this i almost cry my friend who killed himself had this at his funeral and his dad was singing it!!! aaaahhh now im sad... ):

  • This will always be my favorite Dead song. Still sends me shiver down my back.

  • I thank God for the benefits that sometimes come by way of the instrumental assistance of psychotropic catalysis.

  • I agree that this is the best version of this song by the GD. Dont get me wrong, the live versions are cool, but this one strikes a major chord with me.

  • Groovy! Far out! Fantastic!

  • @Django5198Bob only sang lead on Beat It on Down the Line and New, New Minglewood Blues. PigPen sang lead on Good Morning Little School Girl and the rest was Jerry.

  • @Dominator8146 Jesus christ I swear their voices sound exactly the same!!!! Cheers man

  • @Dominator8146 Ol' pig pen, one of there best grinders

  • @Dominator8146 Don't forget Sugar Mag

  • @Django5198 ummmm I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that.

  • @Dominator8146 its cool. nobody cares about facts these days anyway. and theres no way a person would sound diffferent in their 20s versus their 40s..right?

  • @Dominator8146 Sounds like a young Jerry to me...but yeah it's a little hard to call it. I had a copy of this when it first came out...ironic lyrics...does it matter anyway...you bet it does.

  • @Dominator8146 Well, it's pretty damn OBVIOUS that Jerry is singing 'Morning DEW'!!!!!!!Don' know 'bout the rest1!!!XXXXPeacev & Music...CreashonrebelXXX

  • @Django5198 jerry sings most tracks on every album. like on workingman's dead, the only weir track is cumberland blues.

  • @Django5198 Neither

  • @Django5198 JG my brother.............sounds weird cause it is soo old and he was soo young!

  • @Django5198 Jerry

  • @Django5198 jerry

  • @Django5198 This is Jerry for sure! As far as Pig Pen, was he even still around when this was made??? I never heard him sing that's for sure.

  • @Django5198 Come on man, OF COURSE this is jerry

  • @Django5198 just listen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Django5198 This is Jerry broooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bro

  • Unbelievably great song. What a time it was! Only saw them twice, but what shows! They carried the culture like Johnnie Appleseeds.

  • I'm sure the Dead wouldnt appreciate all of the arguing :(

  • Antwan1500- Bonnie wrote the song in 1962, I would think you being the "real" penmen would have wrote it before her, not after in 1963.

  • @999Atwood i did not say i wrote it, qsergyuko did, i accually corrected him by saying that she did back in 62, if you took the time to read that douchebag said

  • @Antwan1500 I see, my mistake. The new youtube format is a little harder to read. The posters ID is so small now.

  • @Antwan1500 dude, you rock... qsergyuko spoils the feeling, seems to be a real idiot, but man, your answers to him made my day :D

  • bout fuckin time someone posted this song on here. sick man

  • @Deerail Yes.....one of their best. And truly evocative of the times. What the hell has happened to this country?

  • @jnsii THE COUNTRY IS USED UP MAN....

  • hmmm...even sociopaths like this song.

  • i wrote this song, back in 63 but was never giiven credit due to copyright hassles, nice version of my song but

  • @qsergyuko Yeah, and I wrote the Star Spangled Banner

  • @qsergyuko bullshit, released in 62 by bonnie dobson

  • @Antwan1500 you little fuck,i am the dead okay,i have all their albums on vinyl and have loved them for years,FUCK OFF.

  • @qsergyuko you started it by claiming credit on a song you OBVIOUSLY didnt write. go fuck with someone else, real deadheads dont bullshit people

  • @Antwan1500 you aint a deadhead cunt, your a deadshit, now fuck off home and listen to some miley cirus

you wish you could take credit for something so awesome.

but you cant, because you suck.

  • @qsergyuko chill out, man. smoke some fucking weed. what the hell is wrong with you, man?

  • I picked this album up a couple weeks after it was released. I remember this was a very important song for our heads.

  • @bwanna23 it was helpful for the head then and now

  • @amsy43 absolutely

  • So creepy and atmospheric. You can almost see the images unfold before you. I know they didn't write this but it's my favourite version

  • someone correct me if im wrong but this songs about the nucular(lolz i cant spell)halucaust(hoped i spelled that right) right?

  • @pyrotech8285 , yes that has always been my interpretation of the lyrics. Nuclear war. The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band covered this song. They also had a track titled "The Anniversary of World War III". The track was a couple of minutes of silence.

  • They were often wrecked in concert, true, but their music was substantial.....a port in the storm in the rising feardom of the tea party age

  • Walk me out in the morning dew, my honey

Walk me out in the morning dew today

I'll walk you out in the morning dew, my honey

I guess it doesn't matter anyway.

    Such a beautiful song...

  • @zackaroni21 I HEARD THAT!

  • This album was recorded in about 4 days. It's not obvious!

  • I think the original studio cut is still the best GD version of this tune. It still sounds fresh all these years later. Timeless, really.

  • @claux23

exactly. this version is more better likes live versions. more feeling. GD only the best - the greatest

  • @claux23 The original is by far the best.

  • @claux23 there's no dead like live dead.

  • @claux23 Exactly my friend! Well said!

  • @asmorgan88------I'm very sorry for you, you've lost the best of rock'n'roll history.....

  • Loko!!!

    Cúem Bonfa SP Brasil

  • I love this album - but for some reason, I truly HATE all their other material.

  • @asmorgan88 Ripple, sugar magnolia, friend of the devil, st. stephen, uncle john's band? I can't understand not digging some of it, but american beauty and workingman's dead?

  • @jdman331

    Yeah - I don't know man.

    Can't get in on it...

"Uncle John's Band" is the best example of the shit I hate, actually.

"Friend of the Devil" is alright, & that album "Aoxoxaomoxoa" or whatever the hell it is, is pretty good too.

  • @asmorgan88 - Time for a new helmet!! Assclown!!!

  • @asmorgan88 You are Musically retarded. You should at least give a listen to "Anthum of the Sun" And see if you can contradict what you just said.

  • @skovie23232

Please fuckstick, I have...it's not my bag.

Don't be upset...and put that thing away.

  • @asmorgan88 Okay man, you just need some weed.

  • Thanks -for this one especially.
