Strange, I'm probably the only one to like X3 the most in the series. It was the pinnacle of 16-bit mega man advancement in my opinion (not to mention one of the first games I ever played, which makes me pretty impartial towards it)

X2 Was great too

X3 Was OK only

X4 Was good for being able to play as zero like an main character, good new storyline too, btw

X5 Was Perfect, Best Megaman X game ever made

X6 Was beyond greatness but not equal as X5

X7 Sucked Big dinossaurs Balls... X Series was not ready to face 3D grafics... and Axl sucks too...

X8 Was a little better but yet sucked not that BIG dinossaurs Balls. But some Medium dinossaurs Balls... lol

@PikaCommando X can handle things without Zero. He defeated Sigma, eradicated the Maverick Virus, and created a UTOPIA for humans and reploids. He did all that without Zero's help.

I still think the plot for the Zero series would have been so much better if X6 never existed and X himself was the true main villian. Because his motivation was to protect the humans at all costs, he'd begin sacrificing reploids to conserve energy. Then the mysterious cyber elf helping you out could have been Dr. Light, which would make the ending so much more dramatic.

I also noticed that X's theme from X8 was short because you had to unlock X so.......there was no stage theme for him.
