I know that everyone's long past the silly guitar solo argument from seven months ago, but it did make my think that one of my favorite guitar solos is Lou Reed's on the studio version of "Nobody But You" on _Songs for Drella_, which consists of a single note and the harmonic played at the same fret.
@ZLUGGO That probably wasn't the idea. They always seemed to have 3 core members plus an ever-changing bass player - some worked out better than others!
@Moshpith More is not necessarily better - it might move things technically forward, but not necessarily creatively or aesthetically. Numbers of notes are irrelevant. The effect is all - and for me, this hits the spot. Sometimes, you have to go backwards to go forwards, too.
@efsb Posters like you, smugglertrev and others offer reasoned comments which I always consider. I agree 100%; I've never gotten into the 'barrage of notes' style of playing. "More is not necessarily better" is true, to which I would add less isn't, either. "and for me, this hits the spot"...who can argue with that? For me, it promotes a gag reflex...who can argue with that? I cannot argue your tastes or likes and shouldn't. I'm comfortable with all my previous comments as pro of 40 years. Thnx

Stunning guitar solo. Now I've heard the sonic equivalent of someone painting the Sistine Chapel with their club foot. If you're going to play that lame, at least take off more of your clothes to distract us.
@smugglertrev I don't know...I'd have to see her naked to make that call. From her guitar playing, she would have to be absolutely stunning for me to give her a reprieve...but I'm willing to be accommodating. Thanks for the gracious reply...nothing personal, I believe in cultural diversity.
@Moshpith Sorry man but if you can't appreciate Ivy's guitar playing, you have no clue about rock'n'roll at all. My only tip would be to not display your lack of taste in public.
@MmeLEnfer That's funny. I've played rock professionally on three continents since the 70s. Probably was playing rock before you were born. Everything that is played with 'attitude' and scooped mids on an overdrive channel isn't rock. If you don't understand that, you have no clue about music, of which rock is a sub-genre. Unless of course, you're more interested in attitude than music. In which case, my only tip would be not to display you lack of musicality in public.
@Moshpith Very witty. You don't have a clue. I don't care if you've been playing for eighty years, you have no ear for style or soul. I can appreciate technical quality in music, but as any real musician knows that's only a small part of the entire package.
Well done, now you've demonstrated your arrogance and presumptuousness in addition to your bad taste.
@MmeLEnfer I've made a good living playing the guitar since I was 20, recorded in Nashville, played all over Europe, Australia and the US. What have you done? I've run into your type forever. Another shallow "opinion" but no dissent is allowed. As soon as you can quantify intelligently what it is about her playing that rises to memorable beyond your "opinion", that might be a starting point. As it is, I can toss a rock out my window and hit a dozen 16-year olds who make her look like a poser.
@FedericoDonelli Personally, I don't WHO they get to head the IMF now, as long as they don't play a solo like the one here. Dominique Strass-Kahn...Yngwie Malmsteen...one central banker is just like another, IMHO.
Just a question: Is Frederico Donnelli your real name or a stage name? Because if it's a stage name, it's a very cool stage name. And if its a real name, it would be very hard to come up with a cooler stage name.
@crabman45324 Overproduced bubblegum music for pre-teens versus arm-in-a-sling assaults on a pentatonic scale that she obviously still hasn't mastered after years of febrile attempts...sounds like a wash to me. It's great to enjoy The Cramps, perfectly understandable that you're moved by the raw emotion, all that makes total sense. The fact remains EVERY guitarist worthy of the name would tag this as a LAME solo, aimless, stumbling, failing to develop...you get the point? No, most likely not.
@jamessalter1 - Incapable of offering anything like intelligible repartee that adds something of value to help propel this scintillating exchange forward, Mr. Peanut here goes to the well again for more of that good old fashioned ad hominem vitriol. Is "Wanker!" an appropriate response to Mr. P? Yes, "Wanker!" is an appropriate response for someone with his painfully obvious deficiencies.
One the best things about these vids other than the music natch, is you don't have to read a bunch of lame arguments in the comments. Way to go Cramps fans!
