  • i can draw that good and u r amazing im just wondering if u are proffesinal and if sooo...how do i get to become noticed

  • @kisshardrocker14, Hi! I am not a professional artist, yet. I would like to become one eventually. I don't really have any useful advice on getting noticed, unfortunately. Thanks for the kind comment!

  • awesome

  • that is some gay music but good drawing

  • i m self taught artist too

  • i m self taugt artist too

  • What I wouldn't GIVE to be able to draw like THAT!!!!!! You make it look SO VERY EASY. Do You have any art school / college training , or is it just years and years of practice and experience that made you this good? Drawing and Comic book work are my GREATEST passions in life. In fact It's always been a dream of mine to one day make a career of my own in those fields. You Give such great attention to shading and detail. I hope to learn that myself someday. Keep up the great work!!!

  • @darkstar1977a, Thank you for the kind comments. I am a self-taught artist.

  • hey great drawing what pen is that your using a sharpy?

  • too fast and stupid

  • @MrDaveblundell oviosually u r and idiot..and jealous....and too fast.... u do know there is a pause and rewind button

  • too fast

  • stupid speed drawing

  • Cool stuff man can you draw me an elmer fudd twentieth century up date withe machine gun and Rambo style with cammo outfit can any one who has commented do this for me please

  • Not bad. All with a sharpie. You are not in my league but not bad. But great vid. I hope it teaches others because you really are a good artist. I bet you are a great teacher as well. Keep it up my friend. Maybe someday we'll meet and you'll see I mean no disrespect.

  • #FTW

  • Matt, have u ever seen wolverine with medals on his gloves, if so can u draw it?

  • I have to ask- how did you learn to draw? did you copy from stuff or just, like, did it and watched what happened? (earlier in life not with this piece boviously) great vid.

  • @TaskMaster619, Hi! I pretty much just looked at the characters for reference, and then just drew the pictures. Once I have drawn a character a couple of times or so, I usually don't need reference for them anymore. Thanks!

  • you are amazing but do you have to look at a picture and draw or can you draw from your memory?

  • @liukunglao, If it's a character whom I am familiar with and have drawn at least once before, I usually don't need any reference. Thanks!

  • oh man you draw so much how can you do this?

  • I would use music that fits with wat you are drawing :)

But the drawing it'sself is cool

  • his claws are to small..other than that its fantastic

  • you're awesome

what materials do you use? a pen brush?

do you know some places in portugal where i can find this kind of materials?

  • @The2mcool2, I use markers, techinical pens, and brush pens, or anything that gets me the kind of line I want for the picture I am working on. I really wouldn't know where you could go to in Portugal for art supplies, but there are online stores like Blick's where you can order supplies. Thanks for the kind words!

  • how many times did you drew that?

  • @MariJuaNiC, That exact picture? Just the one time you see in the video. I have drawn Wolverine, the character, many times.

  • Wolverine's awesome.. u r awesome too XD

  • ok and if those claws look like toothpicks then that makes butcher knives look like scisors yoou fucking dumbass

  • ok i could name so many things wrong with this. first of all his left arm is gigantic its way to big if you wanted to do forced perspective and wolverine looks like he eats 8 big macs a day th little things that he has on his mask arent the same size his claws look like tooth picks and i dont have a single wlverine comic where he smiles

  • wow all i can say is ur obvsly a fucking dumbass his left arm is..SLIGHTLY bigger becuase his whole left side of his body is lunging foward and thats common sence u obvsly needa learn ur points of perspective..nd i see absolutly no smile..i garentteee this drawing has more talent and perfection than u have in both ur feet and hands..so shut the fuck up

  • @PEAMSlgnd7 hey have you ever read a comic i dont think ive ever seen an arm that big and he looks like he a molded piece of crap

  • telent in its rawest form, you r gifted. this shit is fuckin crazy

    -- Matt

  • tht is awesome i can draw but only copying images did u just draw tht off the top of ur head?

  • Yep. That's usually the only way I draw things, unless I need some reference for something I never drew before.

    --Matt

  • No, I am self-taught. Thanks for the comment!

    -- Matt

  • you mean you dont haave any degree in design or something?! you just draw and thats it?!

  • That is correct.

    -- Matt

  • damn, you mustve really cruised most of the time drawing when you were kid, youre lucky to be dedicated man, i dont have much discipline for too long, so im good at many things but not really really good at any of them

  • @MattHawes really inspiring mang!!

  • That is truely astonishing. The steps taken that go from a blank page to something with so much value on it is simply breathtaking. As an aspiring artist, I have to ask - got any tips for anatomy? Or for the tools needed to ink? I've mostly been using nibs but am having a very difficult time using them. What pen were you using?

  • For most of my drawing videos I use Sharpies (the one in this video was an ultra-fine point), because they show up well on camera and I am able to ink more quickly with them. But for more professional work, I use technical pens, markers, brush-tipped pens, or, well, even Sharpies if it gets the line I want. Really, despite what some other artists might say the pen is just a tool and whatever you think will get the line you want to achieve is what you should use. (continued)

  • I know a lot of comics professionals use brushes and ink, but I like more control and so I use pen. I hate messing with dipping pens because of the mess. LOL. Otherwise, I would use them more often,

As for anatomy tips, look at real people and notice the different body types. Look at how the different muscles look, and how light affects the definition of different parts of the body.

    Thanks for the kind comment!

    -- Matt

  • how long did you study anatomy?

  • Honsetly, I'm still studying. Heh. An artist is always observing and learning. But, I got the basics down about the time I was fifteen-years-old.

    -- Matt

  • sup man i no you kinda got your own style and all but it would be dope if you would draw wolverine from new x-men with like the small body and slicked back hair. he looks bad ass....with a cigar..just a sugestion think about it peace

  • Thanks for the suggestion!

    -- Matt

    btw i have a question.

the opening part where it says "hawes draws" and it has all those characters in the background. is that seperate drawings edited together or did u actually draw all of those?

  • I drew all of those characters together. That background picture is actually an old drawing I did years ago. Thanks for the kind comment!

  • Great piece of work Matt. Ive seen all of your drawings, and I got to say, you're on top. With those Incredible drawings, Stan Lee & Joe Quesada should be on the Phone with you on bended Knee begging for you to draw comics for Marvel, or the owners of DC or any Corporation of Comics. So keep making Happy Drawings & Keep Rising you are Numero uno.Blessings.

  • Thank you very much for your kind words!

    -- Matt

  • Hey, I have a question. How do you get the camcorder to move right where you wish to focus on, is there a strap you put on so the camera follows wher you want it to go?

  • Hi! I'm actually holding the camera as I draw in the videos where the camera moves. Thanks!

    -- Matt

  • The way you hold your drawing utencils is so cool, I'm good at drawing too, maybe we can meet, and have contests.

    --Max(Finnish name Aleksi)

  • Hi! I draw most of my art for the videos at the shop, but I draw anywhere, really. Thanks!

    -- Matt

  • hello, just thought id take the time to tell you how good your drawings are and i know u get that alot but i dont care. I was just wondering how u would get into a busniess like that..drawing for comics and such...

  • I always appreciate kind words. Thanks! As for your question, the two ways I know of to get a job in comics is to go to conventions and show your work to editors, or to send in submissions to the publishers.
