hello!! i moved to russia and the same thing happend to me I guess the power is the same as in ireland (200-240v), do you think that if I buy the adapter here it will work or do you think it will blow my xbox? or should I order and an adapter from the US and a power transformer?
plese tell em what do you think and what worked for you
the thing is why your psu blowt up is because in america they use 110V on 60 Hz en in europe the use 220/230V on 50Hz on the net system wen it is not a module psu that can switch from 220/230V to 110V so thats a different amps that you gone get if you psu is 150w on a 230V the amps is 0.65Amps on 110V you amps is 1.36Amps so thats a big difference
I dont know if anyone else has posted this yet, but the reason why it blew the power supply is because in England or Ireland, they use 240V plug sockets. In America, your plug sockets only go up to 80V or 120V, depending on where you live. So you should of check that first before plugging it in, silly :P.
the same thing happened to me! i really need to ask this question that is there any chance that my xbox 360 console is also damaged along with the power brick?!
I just did the same thing tonight. I moved to Ireland and plugged my xbox through the same electrical converter you did. It blew out the power supply and a few other things in the same wall. What number did you call? And will a european power supply work back in the states too?
@fixed11 020 7365 9792 or 0800 587 1102 - They sent me a European power supply and plug..... you will need a power supply and plug that works for US if you wanted to use it in the US and European if you wanted to use it in Europe. Hope this helps!
@xdaznx .....Thanks for the reply, but I just tried using my friends irish pcu and the chord didnt fit into my xbox. It was the same shape but the little silver slits were just off. I bet xbox made them different on purpose. Where can I get a pcu that fits into my xbox and wont blow the power?
@xdaznx ...sorry, one more question: both numbers didnt go through on both my american and irish phone. is there some sort of code i need to type in or take away from those numbers?
@brankodell YES! When I sent in my blown out american power supply, they sent me a European power supply. I have been using this power supply with my Xbox ever since with no problems at all..... Hope this helps!
hey man im from ireland and it would be really helpful if you could tell me if american desktops work over here with a travel adapter cuz i seen a great 1 from america plz reply?
Don't people know that they need to check the power specifications on the power adapter itself to see if it will work with 240VAC/50Hz. You know that little grey sticker there on the power brick. If it says only 120V/60hz and not 100-240VAC/50/60hz then yes you will blow it up. And don't try one of the cheap hair dryer/curling iron kind of adapters for the voltage conversion. They are not designed for long term use. You need a 500W 240V/120V Step Down transformer. :)
did the same thing back in may i was in germany plugged up the box blew the fuse a fuse to the whole side of the room of my girlfriends apt and blew the power suppky to my xbox everything else worked fine with the us converter i shoulda googled first
my xbox360 power adaptor blew a fuse as well, so i replaced it and just two days ago went to plug the new brick into the power socket and the thing literally blew up, it started a fire and black smoke was whisping out of it.

it's because the voltage of the mains electricity it different in the EU than in america.
one of my friends decided to flick the little 'EU/AM' switch on the back of my psu which set fire to my bedroom
