  • Cannell was brilliant, he defied traditions and cliches, breaking new ground with his writing, but he himself was also a cliche and old school tradition...smoking a pipe while at the typewriter and nearly always wearing a turtleneck and/or black sport blazer. He looked the part of a TV prodcuer, but never seemed to act like one.
