If Gas, external sounds, and some shakiness isn't a problem than you can drive for reals. Which can get you some much cooler shots and a lot more realism although the 3 extra factors listed at the beginning can kill this possibility for some people.

the green screen turned out better than I thought it would, nice tip with the pillow for stabilization. I really never plan to use projection, too often you can tell that it is fake. I was thinking what the heck when you mentioned lighting only, but yea that turned out great, and even the flashlights as a car following was great, of course you would have Stark do this part, he probably follows people in the dark all the time. lol

You can also just hold up a white reflector in front of the window on a sunny day and over expose the white reflector, so it looks like they're driving outside on a really bright day or during the sunset. They did this for the Transformers scene where Sam and Mikaela were in the car together.

to anybody that thinks it would be easier to make a movie while just going for a "ride", they've obviously not tryed it, and quite possible rarely shoot videos. While trying to get the audio right, the lines right, the shots right, the lighting, glare, focus, continuity, and everything else correct, it really is easier to just shoot in your garage..
