The avg. per capita debt in Germany is about $12k (2009, according to government sources) - but with middle-aged people around $45k in debt on average. The only difference to the US being less-insane interests rate and Germans going into debt later in life and not straight out of college. Close to 3 million households are over-leveraged, meaning they've more debt than they can possible ever pay back. Germany is rapidly approaching US standards.
You should also look at the other part of the medal. Capital to debt ratio in Germany is like 3:1. For the 2 Trillion € debt of the country there is also a 7-8 trillion in financial assets but thats mostly overlooked.. I guess you couldn't get voters with such a thing.

My family visited the Henry Ford Museum in July this year and went to the city of Detroit for a look ,,expecting to see a vibrant hard working city we were shocked at the way BAD Government had let the whole of Detroit city in ruins. The people were lovely and helpful and I never felt threatened .

The avg. per capita debt in Germany is about $12k (2009, according to government sources) - but with middle-aged people around $45k in debt on average. The only difference to the US being less-insane interests rate and Germans going into debt later in life and not straight out of college. Close to 3 million households are over-leveraged, meaning they've more debt than they can possible ever pay back. Germany is rapidly approaching US standards.

The overall not-as-bad-as-the-US capital/debt ratio is pretty much irrelevant for the private citizen who has no way to pay for his obligations since his income hardly covers the living expenses. With increasing inflation and a world-economy that isn't doing terribly well right now, this becomes a serious problem for more and more Germans.

Detroit died because the US bought foreign cars ..US car manufacturers made crappy cars..US car makers exported production to foreign countries.. take GM it invested $500M + in Mexico and over $200M in Canada with only $100M in the US..those jobs ?? they are created in foreign countries like most corporations they create jobs in China India or other 3rd world countries not in the US

Not a government that tries to control the people by regulating their jobs out of existence. Then explain to me that with tax rates SO high during that time period why corporations werent leaving the country in droves as your logic suggests. taxes arent the problem for corporations today, its the bottom line and how to make more, corporations DO NOT move manufacturing to other countries because of taxes, they move shop for cheap labor. I also think you need to read up on shell corporations.
