  • @ComposingDan

Thank you!! I'm really glad you like it :)

    All the best,

    David

  • Enjoyed, it, but the rips were too noticable; Johnny Mandel's guitar notes from "MASH" for the first piece / the motif from J.N.H.'s "Signs" in as the basis of the second piece (at least the opening) / Rota's "The Godfather" theme -- played cleverly on piano for the third piece / a theme from "Rocky" for the fourth. A lot more than just one rip.

  • Thanks for the comment tharpdevenport, but I feel what you're saying is little farfetched. First of all, all that is similar between the first piece and 'Suicide is Painless' is the first arpeggio, and it happens to be in the same key so they sound pretty much the same, thing is, after that first chord, the song develops thematically into something extremely different than my piece and they have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

  • That is in no way a ripoff, these little coincidences happen all the time, and they are inevitable. On the second piece, the rhythm pattern (not the notes) in the cellos is the same from the pizzicato strings on Signs' main theme, but again, there is no real relationship, same rhythms are used everywhere and they are not considered copies or imitations of eachother.

  • On the third piece 'Drama', I can only see that maybe I use a similar set of notes to that of the Godfather theme, but they are nothing alike, both themes convey completely different things. On the fourth piece 'Comedy' I really have no clue how you could see a relation to Rocky, I admit my ignorance on this one...

  • If what you're saying is right, if using a similar set of notes, rhythm or chord progression is a rip then everyone rips from everyone all the time, no-one is original and composition as a profession is hopeless and should be abolished. Just kidding! But I believe I have a point.

  • Excellent music and excellent presentation. Thanks

  • Dude your work on Gone was kickass. I like your scoring style. Keep it up.

  • Wow, the drama sounds like the scene from Dariana's final death. its from a play preformed in france, lovely piece.... sad ending. she turned into a little girl before she died...

  • And finally, at the very end I think the chord should resolve itself instead of just having an awkward chord finishing your piece.

Very good though! And since we are always learning music I wish you best of luck in your work. Good job.

  • Comedy (cont'd), other then that you obviously had a very specific picture in your mind when writing this piece that I cant really imagine so just keep working on this. (that goes for everything)

Horror, this was by far the weakest in my opinion. :( At the beginning the theme is good but I dont feel any tension nor a reason for those "punches". Also, in my opinion I do not think that this is creepy enough. It is more sad then scary.

  • I like the Nature one, how the theme is a harp solo.

Action/Adventure, I did not really like this one so much... I felt that there was not enough tension throughout this piece.

Drama, I thought this one was fairly good. I really enjoyed the piano solo at the beginning but was a little bit dissappointed that it did not continue throughout the piece. :( WHERE DID THE PIANO GO!?!?!?!

Comedy, for this one I cannot really give any criticism except that I did not like the end.

  • Really really nice.

Which software did you use to create music? =)

  • 5*****!!!!!

  • Well done David! This is the first time that I listen your compositions and let me tell me you one thing: YOU'RE GREAT!

  • Genial David adelante hermano no aflojes!!!

  • Wonderful work David!, hope very soon you´ll be part of a great film production.

    All the best!!!
