Aretha sounds like hell after years of smoking. Diana's voice has gotten deep from menopause, Gladys STILL has it.
I see we have a difference of opinion and different tastes in reference to what appeals to us. The scat comment was my statement based on my observation so it was relevant to my point. Ella and Sarah vaughn were two of the best in the art of scat, Martha pales in comparison. You are entitled to your view that she is phenomenal I tend to categorize an artist like rachelle ferrell as phenomenal. Thanks for not responding in a nasty manner as some tend to do.

If the 2004 date were not posted, I would have thought this was from the mid-70s. Sounds a bit like The Pointer Sisters hits from that era.

Thanks for your comment.I dont think the sound is unappealing, as martha is moving into jazz on her latest release.
And there is no need for the 'oh goodness she is trying to scat..NOT!' comment as she does a pretty good job when the scatting bit comes in.
this is a F A N T A S T I C song. there is no question about it.
Martha still has it, and she still contiues to peform all around the world.
The fact that people are paying to see her proves that.
