I still get the windows explorer has stopped working in Ultimate.. lolz.. and my pc is just as powerful as yours.. cept i have a Q9550.. and a 9800gtx+. Its wack.. ive been going on and off with VistaUltimate since it came out. Dual booted XP seperate HDrive.

Its a bit better now, amazing how poor Explorer works MS has to much tied into it, with all those services, to bloated.

My dad's Inspiron 530 has the same CPU, 1 GB less RAM, and Intel GMA 3100 integrated graphics, and it can effortlessly open a picture in Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. You may have recieved a faulty copy of Windows. I don't know a lot about operating systems, so I'm not sure if there are faulty copies of Windows. Or, you may have a lot of data on your hard disk. Try to get Windows 7 Ultimate on it and see what happens.

@Sicj Yeah, it's just that older PC were not suited to run Vista. We installed it on a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 PC, and it displayed a startup error within one week. I'm not sure either. Vista was either poorly coded or it would more likely fuck up on older PCs.

i've told all my friends and family never to buy a computer with vista. few took my advice. everyone who bought a pc with vista hates it and has nothing but problems including my parents. i can't tell you how many times they've brought their laptop to me to find out whats wrong with it. they just use it for the internet and checking e-mails and it can barely handle that without problems. vista blows the big one. i'll stay with xp thank you very much.

I had an OEM version layered in bloatware fro HP. Total Shit, it couldn't run shit and nothing was compatible, I formatted every trace of the shit from all my storage devices, and installed XP but that didn't go well, so I went and bought Vista Ultimate x64 with sp1 integrated and installed it and it runs great. Fuck OEM versions of Vista, it isn't a Vista issue, incompatible programs on the shitty OEM now work perfectly in a personal installation, GTA SA is a good example.

But a "Security Feature" prevent windows to start and reboot the computer if a such thing happen...

And even the Installation DVD can't fix that!

So Vista just keeps restarting!

And I had to fully erase everything I had before to get it to work again...
