  • great!

  • no, the songs on this one can be found on our first ep "This State Of War". You can download it for free at our bandcamp-site.

  • what song is it ?

    is it from Axis ??

  • is the sm57 a good mic for recording? im looking for some mics to record with nd i heard that this might be better than most condensors. Thanks, and nice song btw.:)

  • @drummerboy9551 SM57 is the go-to affordable instrument mic. It's okay for vocals too, but the best mic choice always depends on the singers voice and on your other gear. If you have money for just one mic, get this one.

  • what Program u Use ?

  • @halimsharingan Cubase 5

  • @300009puc yes, it's SM57.

  • What is that on that dude forehead?

  • @666jony666 just a regular band-aid. I had a few stitches on my forehead.

  • Your first song was awesome what's the name of it?

  • @Readsville it's This State Of War. You can download the song for free at our site nerveend.com

  • how can this video have 7 thumbs down? Music? Niiiice. Humor? Niiiice. Production? Niiiiiiiiice. And only with software! Come on people dont be so negative.

  • Bugera 6262!

  • @thunorrr we actually used the amp for a different session, the guitars on this one is DI-tracks + vst-plugins only.

  • @Ronixis Did you use VSTi's for the distortion on the guitars in the Amnesia track? You guys make some great music. This is the style I want to record.

  • @thunorrr yes, all guitars are just vst-plugins. Check out my the ending of my Nerve End - Mixing Session -video for all the presets.

  • Wat editing program do u use? :P

  • @TheGuitarGuy555 do you mean a recording software or video editing software?

  • @Ronixis Recording software, :S soz i made it sound confusing before xD

  • @TheGuitarGuy555 we used Cubase SX3 on this one. I've since updated to Cubase 5.

  • I'll be honest, not I fan of your distorted style, but great cleans and track, outside of that,

  • @MindOfPagan thanks for the honest feedback!

  • Wow what type of vocal is this? I like it, how to do it? =O

  • @StalinStudio I really don't know :D I just yell loud and add some heat (by pushing from the diaphragm) and the voice gets distorted. I'm constantly on the edge of my highest register, so it's a really hard thing to pull off live, but I'm getting better at it. This isn't probably the safest or the easiest way to produce distorted vocals, but for me, this feels the most natural way of doing it.

  • @Ronixis i wish i could use more diaphragm and less throat constriction but its hard, especially if you are constantly teetering on the high end of your own register so good job yet again man. dig the vocals for sure, very different in a sea of sameness

  • i have question about the mic .. does it capture the surrounding envirnoment or just the sound in front of it? my room has the street noises to come in & i dont know how to solve this

  • @EhabSami88 SM57 has a cardiod polar pattern, which means it picks up the most sound on front and some from the sides.

  • @Ronixis

yea i kinda know that, but i mean through ur experience, have u tried recording with some noise outside the room? does it pick that?

srry for much Qs:) im totally pissed with the outside noises & dont wanna purchase a mic that picks them & end up disappointed .. if u have any ideas too that will be much appreciated:)

  • @EhabSami88 well, the only noise in our recording room was from the PC. I'm not sure of what kinds of noise levels you are talking about, but I guess you'll be fine if you don't keep your windows open 24/7 :D

Also, our recording room sounded like shit, so that's one of the reasons we used SM57. Because it's cardiod polar pattern, it picked up only a little amount of the room sound and mostly my dry vocal sound.

  • @Ronixis

gr8, thank u so much that was helpful:)

btw, im a big fan .. love ur tracks, PLEASE DO MORE :)

  • @EhabSami88 yes, we'll release fresh tracks in near future :)

  • if kermit de frog had a metal band this would be it

  • Helvetin hyvää settiä! Soinut viikon vähintään kahdesti päivässä... saikos teille maksaa ep:stä ihan rahaakin?

  • @saheltaja hieno homma! CD maksaa 3 € + 1 € toimituskulut. Pistä tilaus ja yhteystiedot sähköpostilla: contact (at) nerveend.com

Jos haluat maksaa PayPalilla, voit tilata myös suoraan nettikaupasta: nerveend . bigcartel . com ...tuolta löytyy myös muuta merchandisea. Ei oo montaa levyä enää jäljellä.

  • hmmm, i hate to ask so many questions, but i figured why not as you'll most likely know ;p I want to be able to record my guitar without a mic, so if i get guitar rig will it simply hook up to the comp then i can record it through cubase or w/e or do i have the wrong idea? :X thanks!

  • I'm looking for a mic for recording - Mainly vocals. But intend to use it for recording guitars & percussion too :/ would you recommend this mic? it sounds like the best from which i have compared it to. awesome stuff btw \m/ thanks :)

  • @jaklol09 Yes, SM57 is awesome for guitars and snare. There's professionals who own like billions of dollars worth of gear, and still use SM57. It does a pretty good job on vocals too, if you use a pop-filter. So make sure you have one, if you are going to use this mic for vocals. Otherwise you'll get horrible pops whenever the vocalist sings the letter "p".

  • @Ronixis great thanks for the info :'] you're using the mic for the actual recording right? :p haha you guys seems cool as fuck !

  • @jaklol09 yes, we did. We also used SM58 for a few screams, but 99% of my vocal takes were recorded with SM57.

  • @Ronixis great thanks, it's decided then i'm getting this mic :D thx!

  • Amazing!! Your vocals are great! ¿which microphones where used to record the distortion guitars? Cheers!

  • @HeilTheOperator thanks! No mics were used for guitars :D We recorded guitars through instrument-input on my firewire interface and modelled them with freeware amp simulator plugins.

  • man i watch this video more then a few times i love the music!! im also debating on getting a SM57-LC , i already own a audio technica at4040 but still want to try that mic out!

  • @D40Oz1 Thanks for the feedback! You can never have enough SM57's :D It's the industry standard as a multi-purpose mic. Even though you wouldn't like it on vocals, you would definately use it for micing amps, snare etc. at some point.

  • I noticed you used cubase, what effects did you put on ur voice to make it sound more whole and not thin.

  • @PyschoMechanix40 check out my "Nerve End - Mixing Session HD" -video. There's all effects I used on vocal tracks. Mostly Blockfish compressor and Waves L1. Also, almost all of the vocal lines are doubletracked and that's also making them sound fuller.

  • & what guitar are u using btw?

  • @hobazzz Ibanez JPM100P4. It's the camo colored thing you can see in most of my videos.

  • excellent recording!

i have a question, would the sm57 sound like this with my m-audio fast track pro interface ?

im thinking of getting the mic for vocals too

  • @hobazzz Yes it should. If an interface is atleast somewhat decent, it shouldn't affect the sound that much.

Yes, some interfaces have better preamps and ad-converters, but... there are plenty of other factors affecting the final result that are much more significant: right mic distance, right amount of gain, using the right compressor and having good room acoustics.

Get those things right, and I'm sure your SM57 will sound good!

  • @Ronixis

thanks so much for the fast respond :)

    ur a great vocal btw

  • Awesome!!!! Really want to know what Mic pre you using....

I also have a sm57 but it is really hard to make the gain up naturally by using Edirol UA-25ex built in preamp.

  • @willytai Thanks! I plugged the mic diretly to my Mackie Onyx Satellite firewire interface. It has pretty good preamps compared to most of interfaces in it's price range.

  • ouch

  • This is awesome, man, nice vocals, great quality on the sound. Greatings from Mexico. Cheers dude.

  • @pelosmaster thanks!

  • Searched for SM57 videos because I'm thinking about getting one and a Line6 UX as an interface. Your band is actually pretty awesome, I'll check your music out later.

  • wtf is that on the singers forehead??? XD klingon

  • @xulavenger I had a 3 inch cut there. there are stiches bulgin out under the band-aid.

  • where do i plug this mike into an is it recommended for live performances???

  • facial expression win

  • What was the guitar setup for this album? :D

    Sounds good.

  • @cobfan25 Thanks. Check out my "Mixing Session HD" video. You can see my complete guitar setup @ 7:18

  • Totally unrelated, but the singer looks like Jeff Hardy.

  • I've saw countless videos showing clean vocals into an SM57. My question is this... Is an SM57 good for recording aggressive death metal vocals? If so what steps should be taken to ensure a good recording?

  • Muy Buena cancion saludos carkanles desde el puerto , yeah u know , whats is

  • SUPER GROUP INDEED

  • nice song man

  • Thanx!!

  • Damn now i dunno which to get... the 57 or 58..

  • @vandomVenom if you are going to do a lot of live vocals, then I'd suggest to get 58. If you need to record a lot of instruments too, 57.

  • @Ronixis hmm its cause i play the guitar and piano but i also do vocals and live shows. Soooo.. Im torn. 57 isnt for live?

  • @vandomVenom I wouldn't use 57 for live vocals, since it's extremely sensitive to lisp without a pop-filter. SM58 on the other hand has built in pop-filter which makes it much usable for live vocals.

  • @Ronixis Thus enters the A2WS :)

  • @vandomVenom Thanks for taking time of to ans these questions! Appreciate it!

  • @vandomVenom no prob :)

  • Hey dude, what´s this song´s name?!?

  • @Edgreek the first song is called This State Of War and the second is Amnesia. You can download both of them at our Myspace-site. There's a link in the description box.

  • man this sounds sooooo smooth!!! , k so im debating on buying a AKG C214 or the Rhode NT2A

but honestly your vocals are only recorded with a Shure SM57??

  • @D40Oz1 that's right. I'd probably prefer a SM7b, but don't have the money for it at the moment. I've heard that at least Björk and Bono have used SM57 in the studio, so I guess it's not the worst choise of mic for vocals!

  • heal yourself....

  • Is that a SM57???

  • @DamnUSlutz that's right

  • lol that's the exact same way i record my vocals.. with a external pop screen and a sm57 .. people think i'm crazy..sm 57 just shines on some voices where no condenser can touch it.. and i hate how foam windscreams muddy the sound. nice to see someone else use the same setup :P

  • thanks dude, that would be awesome

  • im going to buy this ep thats for damn sure

  • Nice to hear that. We are going to release it as soon as the printing is done. I'll keep you informed.

  • How is the EP coming along?

  • everything is tracked. we are doing some minor tweaks with the mix and it's ready to be released

  • Nice... those guitar parts were recorded with that Bugera in this vid?

  • Guitars on this video are actually modelled with a freeware guitar preamp VST plugin. Bugera was used on a different project.

  • @Ronixis O_o omg... with FREE vst??? ou fak!

  • Yup. Google "LePou plugins" or "TSE X30 plugin" and you'll find tons of great freeware guitar preamps.

  • badass

  • I want to buy this album!!!

  • We have 3 songs finished, just one more and well release the EP. Thanks for the praise!

I guess the price will be around 3 or 4 usd when we get it pressed

  • I'll give 20 USD to the amazingness that will be this EP. Let me know when it's out and I will definitely buy it!

  • Awesome indeed

  • LET ME WAIT NO LONGER!!!

  • Don't worry, we'll release it as soon as everything is ready. It's almost done.

  • simply awesome!!!!

  • thanks :)
