I'm 29 and have been welding for 7 years. I'm going to weld my way to the top. People who can join metals are always going to be needed and the best plant managers start out on the production floor. (my opinion). Welding is not a menial job at all it is a good career path. There are no menial jobs there are only menial people. When I started I worked for tools. Soon my tools will work for me.
very nice... why does it shoot out little balls of metal like that?? its so controlled (time wise) and precise (amount of metal being dislodged from the rod)
we've got lincoln electric powerwave machines at work that do that. you can get a real hot weld with full penetration with good appearance on the outside. We get real clean welds with not alot of spatter and little or no slag. pulsed mig with pure argon would probly make for some sweet aluminum welding. probably look like you tig'ed it.

@ldillon6967 ..welders are all idiots......I know..I'm one of em....shoulda got a degree...sat on my ass....but oh no...I'm a workin man...I;m a dumasss...and I ended up with nothing to show for it....don't let your children do this kind of work...it's a dead end street.....RR
@raginroadrunner Thats the problem nowadays. The young people just wanna sit down and be lazy.. do nothing. But someones gotta take the spot of all the old welders wanting to retire. No wonder welding is a dying trade. Due to laziness. Im 18 and just got my first job.. a welding job.. and wanted to do it since 9th grade. I worked my butt off in school in metals class to get this.
It is happening really fast, you can be sure of that. In real speed this video would be over in just 0.7 seconds. The video is composed of thousands of picture frames shown with the rate of 3000 frames per second. Actually, the interval between the filler droplet shots is no more than 6 ms.
