  • Would you recommend i get the "Monsters and madmen" set?

  • @gabester10 I liked the set, get it but don't pay full price. I especially liked the Boris Karloff films in the set. Kinda surprised me by the quality to them.

  • Fanny och Alexander that film hooooo man, simply brilliant in every aspect also Kes (higly underrated) and Tokyo Story, I also have on criterion that 3, you get great films from Fassbinder, Teshigahara, De Sica, Vigo, Kieslowski's films are most freudian, philoshophical films you got except Fanny och Alexander, if you dont have get next from Kieslowski Dekalog (10 films about 45 min, 1 hour), Dekalog is brilliant. You got great criterions, I admit I am jealous on your criterion update.

  • @zigifrojd I found a new love and respect for Fanny and Alexander after watching the 5 hr cut. I've heard of Dekalog but never seen it, I enjoyed the three colors trilogy so I'll give it a watch. Sadly Tokyo Story is my only Ozu. Thanks, I've really been enjoying your uploads by the way, especially considering I haven't seen Ivan the Terrible part II (seen part I) and I've been meaning to see part II.

  • you and jesus went nuts this sale uh lol good stuff as always

  • @HanzoTh3Razor haha yea I always wind up getting more then I intend to. This was definitely one of those cases where I was gonna go easy and not spend alot and I walk out of the store with a full bag and wonder what the hell happened.

  • @kchyatt Every July and November is the sale. There's always rumors that this is the last year of that but those have been every year and the sales keeping popping up every july and august.

  • @kchyatt Last July I saved up for that sale and I didn't save up for this sale at all and wound up getting more spine #'s than in july. Funny how that works out and amazingly enough I didn't really spent that much. My bank account took a hit of course but it's a small hit. Last November I only got 2 dvds.

  • @kchyatt They're one of my favorite bands. There's always July.

  • You did well once again. I didn't buy anything this time, 12 Angry Men was the only one I wanted but it was $33 at B&N.

  • @DrHasslein Yea I think it came out the day after the sale. Really odd.

  • Awesome Haul! That Berlin Alexanderplatz set looks fantastic, I'll have to elevate it on my wishlist. I wonder if it is going to be made blu though?

  • @scyj10 I wonder how many discs the blu would have. My guess would be 3 or 4. It could use a blu because it's not in the best shape in the world but it's kinda meant to look old because it's set in the 20s. The film is very good, even the surreal epilogue.

  • Jeanne Dielman 23, Commerce Street 1080 Brussels

dude that a lot of awesomeness i think u buy more than myself

the BRD set the thing that amazed me the most were the SF ,specially the 1s in Veronika Voss the documentary about the actress who inspired VR is BRUTAL, I just like the 1st half of Revanche not the whole movie, WOMAN IN THE DUNES!! love that 1, of the 3 Colors my favorite is Blue the transfers r glowing brighter better than ever the criterion release of the year

  • @MrJoel450 I doubt it lol. I liked the commentary with Wim Winders on MOMB, had no idea those two guys were such close friends. I have a habit of butchering the french language so I don't even try anymore. I liked that Veronika Voss isn't just a remake of Sunset BLVD. and is it's own movie. The soundtrack to blue is amazing, it's a close second to red. One of the best releases of the year. Woman in the Dunes is amazing.

  • How many films do you have in your collection?

  • @ursomtl I have no clue. I know my criterion collection is 206 spine #s and 151 or 152 sets.

  • No way. Did you get the BRD box set 50% off? I'm jealous if you did.

  • @SteezeWizard99 It was the first thing I grab during the sale. I was worried someone would grab it before me.

  • Wow! Great haul! Jealous once again. I'm glad the Bluray got to you ok! I get a big raise at work starting next week so I'll be buying more criterions hopefully. Great video!

  • @Rchattaway87 Glad to hear about your raise. Coupons were a huge help during this sale. I saved no money going into the sale and got far more than I thought I would.

  • Great pickups! Tokyo Story is one of the saddest films I've ever seen. I can never pronounce the Jeanne Deilman address either, and I'm not going to try haha. The epilogue to Berlin Alexanderplatz was honestly one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. Three Colors was fantastic, I bought Double Life of Veronique solely on that is was directed by Kieslowski.I love the Eric Rohmer set, my favorite is My Night at Maud's. I've been meaning to pick up the Paul Robeson set. Great video!

  • @metalonmetal1 I went for Rohmer and Robeson over some of the other sets I really want like JVS because it's better to grab the most expensive ones while you can. Berlin had some surreal moments but wasn't s weird film until that epilogue. I meant to grab double life in july but I didn't so I spent more for the blu because they stopped making the digipack. I heard it looks amazing but haven't checked it out yet.
