I'm still reading my newest book on the Rodriquez Brothers, as the tales I have heard about them made me want to learn more. They both were amazing, gifted and fearless, like many in that day. We lost so many, many amazing men. I only wish the sport had the safety we now take for granted!
Argueably the best driver of all time in, undeniabley the greatest sports racing car of all time. Great role model!!!! So proud Porsche trusted him to pilot the greatest race car of all time in it's first season. SO PROUD!!!!!
THIS GUY HAS BEEN THE BEST DRIVER EVER IN THE WET (maybe Senna could be as good as PEDRO), He was one of the great drivers of the romantic era of F1 and SPORTS CARS, I been fan of the Motorsport since 44 years ago and still nowadays I have not seen someone like him (well maybe Ayrton was like him) there was NOT anything in technology driver aid, JUST the driver skills with just one goal WIN! The fans from that time loved him very much, Pedro used to live in France and was very loved everywhere
he has 917-016, the car pedro drove in 1970 and 1971. the actual real car. i can send you pictures if you want, or if you have a facebook, i have a lot of pictures on there
Both of them, Ricardo and Pedro, were excellent drivers, being married with the daughter of the younger of the Rodriguez brothers, Alejandro, gave me a different approach of the way they were and lived. People doesn't die when they are gone, but when they are forgotten. Keep their memory allways alive
how can he be called the "less spectacular" he was the best driving under rain, and had more time to develop his skills, hes the best of the Rodriguez
I reference Pedro as that because Ricardo was the brother that people penned as a can't miss driver. We got to see Pedro race for sometime, but not his brother. However, as you can see, I made a video about Pedro and not Ricardo, so no disrespect this great driver.
That's because Ricardo died some years before Pedro, but before he died he was astonishing, fearsome driving, later Pedro had many great races, Le'Mans, Brands Hatch, etc
Lovely. A great driver from a different era. Is "Pedro Rodriguez" the greatest name a real racing driver has ever had? Could be, could be.
I remember watching him win the Oulton Park Gold Cup on the BBC. At the hairpin hid slid off the track, all four wheels on the grass, gathered it up and still won.
The list of wins at the end includes Austria 1971. Jo Siffert won that race. Pedro had already gone...
A comment on the music choice: My opinion is that music is timeless and era specific music is unnecessary. FYI for those interested, the music choices were: Oakland Raiders' fight song; Knight Rider, Hawaii Five-O, Airwolf, Taxi. Obviously none have any relevance to Pedro but each song had a flare that I felt appropreiate when putting together the clips.
My father told me about this site. He was best friend of Ricardo and Pedro. He met Ricardo when he was 13 and my father 14 when they met at a stoplight and had a race. My father beat him because he was drivig his modified MG TF1500 and Ricardo was driving an also modified FIAT (with smaller displacement) if I remember correctly. Afterwards, they, Ricardo, Pedro and my father all had MG TF1500 in red (Dad), green and white.
That race when he met Ricardo was in Masaryk in Polanco Mexico City. They also used to race their MG's but they would do it only in fouth gear starting at about 15mi, jajaja. Imagine a bunch of teenagers (16,15,14) racing in Polanco.
Anyway, great video. I think both of them were great drivers, but for what my father has told me, Ricardo had the edge.
during these great races on the track and the sunday at norisring nuremberg is still in my memory. Later in 71 seppi siffert dies at Brands Hatch and ten years later herbert mueller on the nurburgring. Horrible days
Thank you very much for this excellent Video, No doubt that the Rodriguez Brothers along witn Moises Solana and Joe Ramirez were guys that gave us the legacy of racing!
My favourite driver of all time (infront of Senna). He was just coming into his prime when he died, imagine what he could have done in a Lotus 72 or Tyrrell 005?

music doesn't matter here .. if you know all the things that form racing, and its history ... The music will sound good

Pedro wasn't even alive when 95% of that backing music was produced. Otherwise very good video footage.

The 1980's Knight Rider music seems inappropriate for film footage of the early 1970's
