  • What version of Arduino does the library work in, I have v1.0 and 0023, and I can't get the library to compile.

  • Hey does the library have the controller programmed such that the anolog sticks are variable? so that when do push up slightly it will go slow and push up all the way it will go fast? does it have it for forward and reverse? i would like to know because i am working on a robot arm for school and such a controller option is needed.

  • Bill,

I have a PS1 controller, and I installed your library. I have no clue how to hook up the controller to my Arduino Uno, or how to program it. Can you help me please? I will try and find some websites to.

  • @AKSoapy29 On my blog there is a wiring diagram and in the library there is an example sketch showing you how to program with it.

  • @madsci1016 So pin 1 on the PS1 controller to Arduino pin 1? I'm confused by the diagram.

  • @AKSoapy29 The diagram matches up name of pin to color of wire/position in connector. In example sketch, it tells you which wire by name goes to what pin on the arduino, but it's changeable. You can use any pin on the arduino as long as you change the code in the sketch to match.

  • @madsci1016 So 13 is clock (blue), and so on? So how do you activate the rumble? I believe you supply 7.5 vdc on the 3rd pin on the PS1 controller (purple), right? Then call the function in the program?

  • @AKSoapy29 yes

  • @madsci1016 Awesome! I'll try it now :)

  • @madsci1016 Awesome! I'll try it now :)

  • @madsci1016 Which pin is command, and which is data?

  • @madsci1016 I can't upload the sketch to my Arduino. IDE is saying:

'class PS2X' has no member named 'config_gamepad'

  • @AKSoapy29 Did you modify the example sketch, or are you getting this error un-modified?

  • @madsci1016 Un-modded.

  • @madsci1016 email me at the address on the bottom of my blog

  • @madsci1016 Email you what though?

  • @AKSoapy29 Anything, so we can discuss this over email and not over youtube comments

  • @madsci1016 Sent.

  • I noticed this library and I will use this for an ROV however I'm a noob to arduino and programming and I would like to know how you sent the information of the analog sticks to the robot and decode. It would help if you could tell me the source code for the reciever and transmitter sketches. thanks!

  • @Anthonyl14107096 The Receiver was not an Arduino and I don't have the sketch for the sender anymore. I can tell you I programmed them to send and receive ASCII NMEA strings and that's how I sent the data.

I get a lot of questions like yours with people asking me how to send data between two Arduinos that I might take the time to write a quick Library to help them out. Stay tuned, I'll try to do it today.

  • Can i have a copy of the source code for the Arduino, if possible?

    Thanks, jalexge.

  • @jalexge This is running a library I developed here: billporter.info/playstation-2-controller-arduino-library-v1-0/

  • @madsci1016 Understood, but I am in the process of making a very similar project, and was wondering if I could obtain a copy of the Arduino code to adapt it to my use, but its no problem if its not readily available.

  • I'm doing an Arduino project with a playstation controller, and im just wondering how you connected the controller to the arduino.?

  • @FergusB3 I spliced the connector off and added pin headers. If you check out my website, I've linked a $5 adapter that will help you out.

  • where is the pull up resistor? are you using arduino's internal resistor function? I'm trying to use a ps2 controller as a PC gamepad, but I will eventually use it to do other things. This is my first Arduino build. :)

  • Nice I am working on a Logitech wireless one with an Arduino Duemilanove, let you know how it turns out

  • @PorterParker

    Any progress?

  • @madsci1016 it wasnt getting power and i don't really know how some of the power things work since it is wireless and the controler has a battery pack
