i hope the netherlands has a god damn good reason to keep their sirens.. because otherwise they should use these, these are much louder and it will scare the driver much more so he will pull over
@leat270576 those silver rolls you see are side roll and impact air bags they are exclusive to pierce mfg, they activate when the sensors detect a side impact and if the truck rolls past a certain point they activate.
@cdffirefighter not even close! theyre silver, because silver reflects heat... now WHY would an LAFD engine need to reflect heat?? idk, probably because they operate at wildfires. guys... in a cab of a pumper... with silver rolls to roll down to protect themselves at wildfires... WHO WOULD OF THUNK IT???
Awww I've been looking for an LAFD ride along for a long time! Great work, I've watched at least half your vids so far. Just wondering though, Why do German Trucks ONLY have a Hi-lo or is that not the only siren they have.
@Crazyfogfighter I'm talking to you! Must be nnice to be perfect! You do things your way in your country, we do things our way! 2 completely different dynamics, get over yourself!
@Crazyfogfighter , Apology accepted. 1) Fire Engines in USA have to meet DOT (Department if Transportation) and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) Stnadards as far as lighting and audible devices. 2) USA is "built" on woodframe construction, meaning we have an excorbate amount of woodframe and combination of wood and ordinarary construction here. 3) NOT all towns and cities have hydrants for water protection, hence the reason for a larger apparatus.
@Crazyfogfighter , To continue, we also do NOT have 10 sirens as you say. Most fire apparatus has a mechanical Q siren and a electronic siren with 4-5 different sounds.
@mrengine9 the german sirens get the attention they need and most cars pull over / give way. Actually german fire engines often could run red lights and pass intersections without almost stopping.
btw.: some very very few german organisations (Fire Departments but also EMS, Police and Federal Agency for Technical Relief) tested or are testing wail/yelp sirens, but it's not common at all
there fire shelters i am a lafd cadet i know

@301whitehall You are 100% wrong, LAFD does not use PA300, they use the Federal Signal Unitrol Omega siren

@LAFD27explorer Umm, not anytime soon, These helmets are Unique, and i think it would be an unnecessary idea to change them

@mrengine9 its tradition, although some countries are beginning to use american style sirens now
zootoo63 1 year ago
@mrengine9 we don't need 20 Sirens to play with. It's completely unnecessary.
Most of our engines or ladders only have the pneumatic two-tone horn, and it works perfect.
Most of the ambulances use electric two-tone horns with two different sounds, but both are hi/low.
We get trough traffic much better than any firetruck in the US, because nearly everybody is moving, although we have only one siren ;)

Well said. What works in Europe may not work in the US. Different countries do different things.

@FirstDue 1. sorry for the idiot word, had a bad day :)
2. so, please tell me the reason for having 10 sirens?
We are not perfect, but i think our fire engines are more elaborated better than yours.
We have a lot more of equipment, more water, more crew-members, smaller engines with less PS and less polution, our trucks are lighter and smaller.
But they do not have 10 differens sirens, 1000 Lights and such an amount of chrome.
The only Problem: They don't look cool :D
