i absolutly love this song this and mrs murphy i love scott walkers way of telling a story as he sings this song is my song it reminds me of lazy days in my bedsit as a student THANKYOU for this VT x
WalkerBros4Ever..Lord, you read my mind and expressed it wonderfully! I discovered this song the same damn way..finally flipped my 45 over and was just forever blown away!! 45 years later this song still just knocks my ass out! Thanks for putting it up... If you ever get to Seattle, the beer's on me!
As NME writer Keith Alston put it, this song is "Pure Walkerama".
When I first heard this song in 1966, I was living in a bed-sit in Leeds, nursing the wounds from a recent break-up. It has been one of my favourite songs since then.
It was written by John Stewart, a fourth Walker Brother who was with them when they arrived in UK. Unused to the right-hand drive UK road system, he stepped off the curb and was hit by a car, breaking his leg and ending his career with the Walker Brothers.
@Wisterialodge how did it reduce their chart succes do you mean they should have saved this for an A side well they didnt get a 2 sided hit like the beach boys
Agreed. Such a shame (and a loss) that for last 30-40 years both he as a performer, and the media to try to persuade him to perform, have avoided each other.
I had the album, so couldn't miss it. This may well be my favorite Walker tune. The song foretold long segments of my future life. Been looking for it forever on YouTube, thanks so much for putting it up!

Great song very underrated and didn't get the popular accolades of some of their others.

Lovely song, and THAT VOICE!! Now his music is so abstract it only makes sense to him and just a few others, unfortunately.

@pattiameo So true about his current "method". Self indulgent to the exclusion of his appreciative fans who love his rich, lilting bass baritone.

Another great song. The Walkers put out good B sides but it reduced their chart success.
