The police should have controlled a number of people crossing the bridge. If not, accidents will happen at every places many People gather. people were killed by police's negligence.

Dear Everyone! I am the one who was in that situation, I am sure that people were killed by Electrical not stampede as the government said! On the second day of the festival I got electrocuted when i sit nearby the pillar of the electricity there(Koh Pich) and also on that time I gave warming to all of my families who were joint at that night to be careful in that location but I had never hoped the big disaster will happen, I am really sorry about that. It is a tragedy. This festival does not have anything to do with religion. It is related to weather- water flow to be precise- unique to Cambodia and on which the festival is based.
Be rational. It is quite simple. This kind of stampedes take place where a large number of people gather , beyond the capacity of the place to hold. Look at the last ten major stapede disasters and they have taken place at religiuous places or football venues.

24 miners died in an explosion in New Zealand today, a horrific tradegy to say the least, however this incident made top, headline news in the BBC and in the press back here in England, with pictures of the victims and families and so on, they were all white. Here, 345 people are dead, perhaps more, and I barely heard about this until today...Just shows you what a different race makes when it comes to what is news worthy. If 345 Americans died, the world would know about it, be sure of that.

Whether tragedy hits in a developing country or the Western world is inconsequential. What happened in Cambodia was awful and we should stop being so inhumane by passing crude or disparaging remarks to take away from the experiences of the victims. It is a tragedy. This festival does not have anything to do with religion. It is related to weather- water flow to be precise- unique to Cambodia and on which the festival is based.
Be rational. It is quite simple. This kind of stampedes take place where a large number of people gather , beyond the capacity of the place to hold. Look at the last ten major stapede disasters and they have taken place at religiuous places or football venues.

24 miners died in an explosion in New Zealand today, a horrific tradegy to say the least, however this incident made top, headline news in the BBC and in the press back here in England, with pictures of the victims and families and so on, they were all white. Here, 345 people are dead, perhaps more, and I barely heard about this until today...Just shows you what a different race makes when it comes to what is news worthy. If 345 Americans died, the world would know about it, be sure of that.
