The Bluesmobile going 115 mph was actually real. They had to get special permission from the city and so the street was completely blocked off from any pedestrians that could've wandered in.
Funniest thing about the movie is that no matter what happened, e.g. a door gets blown apart by a rocket launcher, a building gets destroyed, a phone booth launches 30 ft. into the air, everyone acts normally as if it happens everyday.
I like the fact that Chicago Police is just shooting at nothing because they were long gone........Also I have to say No Cops were killed during the making of the film
There should be a note at the end of the credits that says "No Chicago Police Department officers were *seriously* injured in the making of this film."
fun fact, the siren tone the chicago city police used during this scene was an "in-between" tone, by putting the knob between two tones, produced that unique high pitched wail/yelp
@beasst94 I have no idea, I'm not that much of a BB freak, I actually stumbled upon the correct number myself and saw your comment, I thought if you wanna be exact then...
*car door slams, girl gets out, starts flamethrower*
*phone booth shoots 30 feet in the air and comes back down*
"Hey Jake."
"Yeah?"
"There's gotta be at least $7.00 in change here."
*reaches over and grabs some coins*
Hilarious!!

They shot the Bluesmobile actually doing 120, so they had stand in people in the scene to show how fast that car was really going.

Those Federal Signal PA-20A Sirens have a cool effect. That high pitch yelp is actually the selector moved in the middle position of two tones.
