biofreeze (for bruises or pulled muscles) comes in little packets as well as the triple antibiotic, hydrocortisone and antifungal cream. they're really handy to have outdoors and they are easy to store. also you might wanna keep a coban bandage (like an ace bandage but it wont get ruined if wet) to support a rolled ankle or a banged up wrist.
Hey buddy! Great video as usual! Glad you found that velcro pannel for your FR-1. I have a few of them on different packs I use so I can just swap out the kit when needed. Makes it much easier to get your kit when you need it.
Great information. The only things that I have that's different is "Blood Stopper" picked it up at REI, . I added a small dental kit that has Oil of Clove, powdered Zinc Oxide and a few cotten swabs. The only thing my kit was lacking realistically was a way to treat tooth aches, or broken teeth.
i knew somehow you where in EMS when u pulled the occlusive dressing out I've been in EMS and fire for like 6 years now and everyone thinks I'm nuts because i carry a SAM splint, petroleum gauze, oral glucose, cpr mask and set of nasal airways. i just prepare for the worst case scenario.
what are those items at 3:30? I believe you said mastercall adhesive, but i googled it and turned up with nothing even with keywords "mastercall medical adhesive"
For survival and Bushcraft that is a well thought out kit . I keep mine small for backpacking. I didn't realize you are a paramedic so don't need to explain myself then lol
What about quik clot and related products? Been trying to find a good affordable source for that stuff. It's expensive for something that is usually dated to last only a couple years.
PS: Do you happen to know anyting about a glue that is used by doctors to glue up cuts or other deeper wounds instead of suturing? The kid of a friend of mine had a deep wound the other day and the doctor just glued it together within a few minutes!
Nice video, thanks for the good info, even if we think we know something it is good to see someone elses perspective on the subject. Thats how we continue learning. Take care and have a great day.
The pet stores carry inexpensive packets of Tetracycline (found in fish area), which can be used as a safe, effective broad spectrum antibiotic -- take after meals 250 - 500mg x4 daily, for up to six days. Be cautious of name brand disinformation! This information is based on what I do, not what you should do; all DRUGS have side effects.
just a bit of advice from a fellow medic you dont want to use anything petrolium based on a burn. save those for everything else. they are great for road rash. nice kit i have the same pouch.
@iawoodsman you are welcome. the petrolium traps in any remaining heat in the skin thus causing it to worsen. but road rash makes it a mirical cure go figure.
Cool. What is the name of that glue that is used with steri-strips? I couldn't make out the name of it. I've never heard of that and it sounds great. Thank you for sharing. Tweezers with a magnifier, benadryl for severe allergic reactions, hand sanitizer and anti-diarrheal tabs are the only things I carry in addition to you.
@iawoodsman Thank you. I really appreciate the time you take to make such informative and interesting videos. There are a handful of you that seem to make it a labor of labor love and you all are the ones I enjoy the most. Someday this format may take the place of kids having to go to school. I've learned a whole new life style and several different skill sets from all the sharing people here. I could have learned everything I learned in school from a format like this. Teach a man to fish.......

saline and irrigation syringe seems like would be good addition for that sized kit.
Like you say, "flush the heck outta em".
If you're not familiar with it, Tea-Tree oil "first-aid kit in a bottle", takes near no room and good for what ails ya.

ibuprofen, moleskin, and anti diarrhea pills is what I would add. Then it is exactly what I would carry, nice kit and well organized with that pouch!

If you're out with your Condor II and it starts to rain, is there anything in your FAK that'll get ruined as a result?
