@19dec1981 They pose "yes" or "no" questions in order to further THEIR position in any given matter regardless of who's at fault. Its a game they like to play- they don't care about the TRUTH- just that THEY come out on top in any matter.
@82dr89bg I hate when people ask yes or no questions, for the reasons you describe. When you're in a courtroom and they demand you answer either yes or no, it just shows their corruption. Its everywhere in places of authority. I hope to see a day when demanding yes or no answers in investigations is frowned upon, sadly the authorities are nowhere near close to that place.
Levin has nothing whatsoever of substance to add, so he proceeds to invent a scenario and then push for and pursue an answer to his imagination in a desperate attempt to blacken GGs character. It's low and an indication of the utter failure and farce these monkeys were pursuing.
@tubehows4life no he didn't. Levin asked Galloway if he'd feel bad knowing he was indirectly supporting something naughty. that's like asking a oblivious home appliance vendor if he felt bad for selling a knife to a murderer. It's not his fault and it's completely hypocritical in this case considering the fraud going on in War with Iraq. Answering Levin's question is actually an insult.
@ignorantpom Your ad-hominem opinions on who is an old fart is irrelevant, if you put your fanboyism to one side you would notice that he had Galloway over a barrel, and George struggled. Don't get so precious over it.
But that self-important old blowhard just had to get his little comments in to assert his dominance. He's pathetic as the rest on the inquiry are pathetic. I believe it is you that should set aside your fanboyism.
@ignorantpom Never heard of Levin before this, seen him I think once since then, does not make a fan. But his questions were to ascertain Galloway's attitude to kick backs a friend was getting, Levin was very intelligent in his questioning and owned him pretty hard.
@ignorantpom Ascertaining his comfort with kickbacks helps ascertain his possible comfort in participating in the oil for food gig. Its relevant because if he is comfortable with it, or not comfortable, then the answer means something. He got forceful (not cranky) and pressed him harder because GG wasn't answering the specific question, not because the answer was unfavourable (what would that be? He didnt say).
And your last line shows just what a bigoted person you are.
@theillegalcause Bad analogy, the vendor would have to have been the murderer's best man at his wedding for it to be a relevant comparison. GG said it himself that he took the decision to fund-raise from dubious sources in order to help his decent appeal, there are pros and cons to that and his decision is his decision, but Levin sure had him over a barrel for it. And your comparison with the Iraq war is irrelevant; a.Levin was against it and b.its not the topic of GG's hearing.
@tubehows4life The point is that this entire hearing is hypocritical and irrelevant. Levin is asking Galloway if he'd feel bad knowing he was receiving illegal money from Zureikat via the oil food program. It's a stupid question considering we were the biggest beneficiaries of the program. We should ask ourselves the same moral questions. War solidifies the point about hypocrisy in the hearing. Galloway's ethics shouldn't even be mentioned by Levin especially as a hypothetical.
@theillegalcause6:35, Investigation of UN Oil-For-Food Program. That is the purpose of GG's presence. If we the West benefited from it that doesnt mean that GG can't also be questioned. The war hypocrisy is irrelevant; Levin is against the Iraq war, and was the person questioning him here. The result of Levin's pressing is establishing GG had an illegally circumvented kickback without checking and worse, after finding out about it, has yet to pay it back. Theres the owning.
@tubehows4life Yes he'd feel bad about it, watch 1:48 through 2:10. Levin was looking for an overly simplistic answer that avoided the premise of Galloway's criticism. it supported a false reality in terms of humanitarianism in the oil for food program and made an ethical issue of an initially unethical program. His purpose of using the money is for a right cause no matter the origin. War was on the brink, OFFP was a scam. What is the bigger evil? Galloway is a relativist.
You keep saying there are worse things going on, which has nothing to do with GG himself getting owned, thats what you took issue with me. I say his kickback was worth it, but it is not GG's criticisms of OFF that is in question, they can hash that one out another day, this hearing was about his own involvement in it. GG is a very legalese guy, and Levin pushed a GG shaped imprint in the back wall for it.
@tubehows4life Levin engaged in old-style casuistry to get Galloway saying on camera that he's not "troubled" by kickbacks. I think Galloway coped pretty well.
@tubehows4life not in the least. Levin acts tough because he was in his backyard, Levin would have fared much worse than Galloway were he in Glasgow, that's for certain.
@tubehows4life No Levin did not own Galloway. Levin asked a rhetorical question and was given an excellent rhetorical response, then levin asked it again and was again given an excellent answer. I expect this flim-flam from neo-con Zionist Coleman, but not Levin who voted against Iraq invasion. There was and remains no evidence that Zureikat did what is being "alleged." Zureikat was never indicted nor prosecuted for any alleged crime in the administration of U.N. Oil-For-Food Program.
@jereuter01 Whether Zureikat did what was alleged was irrelevant, the question was whether GG would be troubled by it and he wouldn't answer (I suspect because he wasn't, fair enough and I understand his reasons, but still). That doesn't constitute an "excellent" answer, his answers were to questions that weren't even being asked. GG was very high and mighty in his opening statement and so Levin put a GG shaped imprint into the back wall for it.
@tubehows4life I disagree. A rhetorical question in a proceeding like this one is irregular and should never be answered directly because it can so easily be quoted later out of context, something GG has much experience. Also, the high and mighty opening statement was made by Senate Republican Chair Coleman who lost election to liberal Democrat Al Franken & now works as lobbyist & board director for Republican Jewish Coalition. The answer was excellent because it is hugely embarrasing,
@jereuter01 Coleman was no doubt lofty too, but GG was using a senate hearing specifically about his connections in the OFFP as a political platform about the Iraq war, which he is welcome to do in his own time but I think Levin saw what he was doing, with his masses of British journalists who followed him over to cover this, so he stuck it to him: GG seeming untroubled by illegally circumvented kickbacks to his appeal undermined his pedestal, especially as GG is a very legalese guy.
To rule least everyone know wtf he done we just gettin lied to so we think we live in a comfortable country of.freedom but we dont and if you think we dont then your indenial of the truth and you need a slap to wake up to the real world ! All american politicions think there all up there higher than anyone else but truth is and showed in this video a man as low.and.degrading as george has showing the imaturity of todays senators ..laughing as a true fact a sad one at thay .just childish
My own political leader and punish him !america you.done right in gettin the hussein family out specially that cunt uday but you fucked up big time to.establish democracy when you even reject to use of torture but use torture urselfs in guantanamo and abu grave and dont let me.furget your dumd fucking.congress memeber who openly admitted the use of torture to.get information out of the enemy for.protection of your country thats is basically saying its alright !fuck sake lets get uday hussein to
He is right george as what he says your just indenial if you.think american and british or any western just like any government isnt corrupt ..the one thing that made me.realise is that fact we british and american gave weapons to the muhajeen (sorry for spellin mistakes)trained them to.fight the russian army amd when we invaded they used our weapons we gave them and trained them in to shoot.down our helicopters..if my brother died by a missle.from a weapon we gave them i would go.after
Dont like george as hes a prick but he does have the ability to hold his grpund and fight off the childish and stupid congressmen who giggle like little boys over an issue that is a proven fact !shows how american politicions think there far superior than any other !i dont think george got owned only.at the second last.question but for the rest of the hearing he owned and shamed and raped the senators!and how the american government is such a riddled place of corruption and self contradictive
@ludocrat Bullshit he asks for a single word answer to a question regarding someone's emotions towards complex situation in an attempt to fog the perception of morons like you who cannot properly follow the dialogue but can only judge by who is talking the loudest.
@TrickRabbitTV Please quote me where Levin asks for a single word answer...? In fact when GG asked to expand, Levin said "provided you can give us an answer I'd be delighted to hear it." I understand the eagerness of some, but dude you can't just make stuff up!
The arrogance of American politicians who clealry thing they have some sort of superiority over foreign (and allies) politicians is amazing. It is an indication of how little respect they have for the world. Yet now the empire is on the wane. China will give them some of their own medicing before long.
When Coleman went back to ask the same question about if he had a conversation about oil with the guy inquestion despite being told numerous times it was when he knew he was fucked. Like a little boy saying "are you sure ou didn't eat my chocolate"
George Galloway is a very shrewd operator, people may not agree with his politics but you have to admire his oratory skills. The other thing is the unbelievable arrogance of Senate members in their questioning of a foreign politician. They should look at getting their own house in order first.
We, citizens of the "rest of the world" are going to collect all the oil in the planet, and handle it to USA politicians, so they can shove it up their asses. I think thats what they do with it, they insert it inside their ass holes and they must enjoy it.
That "million children" thing is bullshit. I was against the Iraq invasion from day 1, but the sanctions were not killing anyone. Iraq has a huge agricultural sector, and always had, plus there was cheating from the start - particularly from the bordering countries (Jordan and Turkey especially.)
@TheLoyalOfficer " Iraq has a huge agricultural sector, and always had, plus there was cheating from the start - particularly from the bordering countries (Jordan and Turkey especially.)"
So did russia...how many people died of starvation due to govermant controlled farming?
Why the fuck do you think Japan attacked U.S in 1941.....oh thats right due to sanctions that was crippiling the economic structure of Japan ( food shortage)
Politics is not about lies, politics is about massaging the truth, Galloway has fought this very process here, and fought it well. If your back is to the wall, always choose your words carefully, and NEVER loose your calm, for to do so will be futile and counter productive to you in the end. Long live freedom and truth, for we are nothing without them.
U.S Senate should know better than to take on Gorgeous George......OWNED in their own backyard......if I see him in the pub I'll buy him a few amber nectars.
George Galloway is One Great Scottish man. These zionist have a nerve to question on people's morality when they have blood on their hand. Where is the weapon of mass destruction Zionist? You destroyed a Country for oil, may you pay for your crimes may God punish you for evil acts.
I'll never get tired watching that..I'v seen it many times.....Galloway is one of my heros. Its a shame people with power dont have the same integrity and decency as he dose. The world would be a better place for all of us to live in.
you must have PROOF beyond any shadow of a doubt. I don't know what the very end result was but I hope George Galloway was at least able to sue them or have his detractors brought to justice. The British and American governments are the biggest criminals in history so you can never take what they say as the truth without checking it out for yourself and even then they often ensure the extent to which you can dig is very limited .
Levin and Norm(other senator asking questions) failed in not applying one basic rule. If you are going to state(not accuse because they went further that and stated that the documents they had were correct and genuine and that George Galloway benefitted financially
What troubles me. Is that the Neocons have led us into illegal wars that have killed innocent people and ripped countries apart. Get rid of the US puppet government and there gung-ho military. Oh' and by the way this is the mother of all ass reamings for the US government Neocons.
After Mr Galloway systematically destroyed both the evidence and the source of the evidence (if it can even be called that) as elaborate forgeries they had nothing to go on. At the point it was damage control, attacking his character rather than questioning the legality of any of his decisions. Regardless of whether or not he found it troubling, none of these makes a serious senate inquiry. In terms of illegality, the US senate had trespassed and were guilty of waging an unjust war.
The questions asked of Mr Galloway is, and this is being kind shocking! They seemed to be clutching at straws and not really understanding that what they were asking was just stupidity! Mr Galloway you have brought nothing but praise on the british people from this appercence.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
galloway is contradicting is own govt. PM Blair and Germany, Spain, Russia and others have concluded Iraq did have WMD. He's an arm-chair quarterback talking only after events have happened and take full credit for knowing the truth
"We have Not found stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction. Iraq did not have the weapons that our intelligence believed were there"- July 2004, Bush
"One of the Hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the War on terror."
-- Bush, 9/6 "Exhaustive review finds no link between Saddam and al Qaida"
AFter reviewing 600,00 captured Iraqi documents. -Pentagon(March 11,2008)
@weinmanjoe Acutually whilst i detest Galloway, you are wrong. he said BEFORE we wnet in that they had no WMD's. So, this is untrue "He's an arm-chair quarterback talking only after events have happened and take full credit for knowing the truth". he had a regular radio show and said so BEFORE we went in and you should know he went on a march that was against the war aswell. He has been consistent, I stil dislike him immensly.
Lol man, of course he is. He disagrees with his own governments policies and actions. That's why he's an MP, to induce changes through the making obvious of errors and moral trespasses
@shaamanplatinum And if he ever bothered to show up to do that perhaps he'd still be an elected representative. He voted in 8% (rounding UP) of the votes held during his time in parliament; that's the equivalent of you showing up one day a fortnight to a full time job (less in fact), especially inexcusable given his constituency was in London yet Ming Campbell who's based in Fife voted 78% of the time. Statistically, Galloway may be one of the worst MPs in parliamentary history.
Yep. But you gotta credit his debating prowess. And so far, I haven;t found one idea of his I can fault him for. In fact, now that I think of it, I've agreed with everything he's said that I've heard so far.
@Faboba Sorry, did I just read that Spain, Germany and Russia said that there WERE wmds in Iraq? No. There were not. Get YOUR facts right. Even the american government knows that their attack was wrongful.
That's as ridiculous as purporting that that Iran is trying to get nuclear weaponry, despite the fact that it's a theocracy and that has constantly condemned the EXISTENCE of nuclear weaponry. It's also a SHIA muslim theocracy, which completely out-rules that notion.
@shaamanplatinum I think you meant that reply to be directed at someone else? Regardless; I have never suggested Iraq had WMD, I did not believe that to be the case. Galloway was not alone in his opposition to the war, a list of MPs can be found voting 'aye' here (Youtube won't let me post the link, check the publicwhip's office for the 26-02-2003 vote (note; 100% of the Liberal Democrats). And the fact that Iran is Shi'a does not mean hey have no interest in acquiring nuclear weapons.
sorry for the mistake, the comment was directed at someone else.
But you really don't know about what Iran has been saying about nuclear weapons. Remember, Iran is a Shi'ite theocracy. Maybe you should check the stance of Shi'a Islam on nuclear weapons. Shia islam is very total in it's stance on this subject. So is Iran's Supreme Leader, who is an elected cleric himself and would know this.
For some reason you put lawyers and academics in a room and all you get is smear nonsense and political crap. It scares me that men like Levin and Coleman are "leaders". If they could prove those accusations they made then Galloway would have been finished. Obviously they couldnt prove it, so they do all they can to promote a public opinion of guilt. I cant believe these men are paid for this "public service".
to be honest im pretty shocked by the standard of the questioning. im not anti American but these people help run the country! if your going to speak in public you honestly...
Galloway is a piece of shit. Keep grabbing your ankles for the arabs George. Who would you turn to for help if muslims took over your tiny little defenseless country? That will never happen because REAL MEN in the west won't let it. Someone should audit this human excrement's finances to uncover the Saudi money he has been paid with.

Answering Levin's question is actually an insult.

is levin the old fart that kept getting all pissy and entitled?
the one that kept repeating irrelevent questions?
ignorantpom 2 months ago
@ignorantpom Your ad-hominem opinions on who is an old fart is irrelevant, if you put your fanboyism to one side you would notice that he had Galloway over a barrel, and George struggled. Don't get so precious over it.
tubehows4life 2 months ago
@tubehows4life
Fanboyism of whom? Galloway? He's a joke.
But that self-important old blowhard just had to get his little comments in to assert his dominance. He's pathetic as the rest on the inquiry are pathetic. I believe it is you that should set aside your fanboyism.
ignorantpom 2 months ago
@ignorantpom Never heard of Levin before this, seen him I think once since then, does not make a fan. But his questions were to ascertain Galloway's attitude to kick backs a friend was getting, Levin was very intelligent in his questioning and owned him pretty hard.
tubehows4life 2 months ago
@tubehows4life
how is that in any way relevent to the charges placed before Galloway?
You say he 'owned him hard' but all he did was to ask an irrelevent question and then get cranky when he didn't get the answer he was hoping for.
He's just a typical, arrogant yank and a blowhard.
ignorantpom 2 months ago
@ignorantpom Ascertaining his comfort with kickbacks helps ascertain his possible comfort in participating in the oil for food gig. Its relevant because if he is comfortable with it, or not comfortable, then the answer means something. He got forceful (not cranky) and pressed him harder because GG wasn't answering the specific question, not because the answer was unfavourable (what would that be? He didnt say).
And your last line shows just what a bigoted person you are.
tubehows4life 2 months ago
@tubehows4life no he didn't. theillegalcause 2 months ago
And your comparison with the Iraq war is irrelevant; a.Levin was against it and b.its not the topic of GG's hearing.
tubehows4life 2 months ago
@tubehows4life The point is that this entire hearing is hypocritical and irrelevant. Levin is asking Galloway if he'd feel bad knowing he was receiving illegal money from Zureikat via the oil food program. It's a stupid question considering we were the biggest beneficiaries of the program. We should ask ourselves the same moral questions. War solidifies the point about hypocrisy in the hearing. Galloway's ethics shouldn't even be mentioned by Levin especially as a hypothetical.
theillegalcause 2 months ago
@theillegalcause 6:35, Investigation of UN Oil-For-Food Program. Theres the owning.
tubehows4life 2 months ago
@tubehows4life Yes he'd feel bad about it, watch 1:48 through 2:10. Levin was looking for an overly simplistic answer that avoided the premise of Galloway's criticism. it supported a false reality in terms of humanitarianism in the oil for food program and made an ethical issue of an initially unethical program. His purpose of using the money is for a right cause no matter the origin. War was on the brink, OFFP was a scam. What is the bigger evil? Galloway is a relativist.
theillegalcause 2 months ago
@theillegalcause 1:48 does not say he felt bad about the kickback :-/
You keep saying there are worse things going on, which has nothing to do with GG himself getting owned, thats what you took issue with me. I say his kickback was worth it, but it is not GG's criticisms of OFF that is in question, they can hash that one out another day, this hearing was about his own involvement in it. GG is a very legalese guy, and Levin pushed a GG shaped imprint in the back wall for it.

@tubehows4life not in the least. Levin acts tough because he was in his backyard, Levin would have fared much worse than Galloway were he in Glasgow, that's for certain.
vrny1975 5 days ago
@tubehows4life No Levin did not own Galloway. Levin asked a rhetorical question and was given an excellent rhetorical response, then levin asked it again and was again given an excellent answer. I expect this flim-flam from neo-con Zionist Coleman, but not Levin who voted against Iraq invasion. There was and remains no evidence that Zureikat did what is being "alleged." Zureikat was never indicted nor prosecuted for any alleged crime in the administration of U.N. Oil-For-Food Program.
jereuter01 4 days ago in playlist George Galloway on the Iraq Invasion
@jereuter01 Whether Zureikat did what was alleged was irrelevant, the question was whether GG would be troubled by it and he wouldn't answer (I suspect because he wasn't, fair enough and I understand his reasons, but still). That doesn't constitute an "excellent" answer, his answers were to questions that weren't even being asked. GG was very high and mighty in his opening statement and so Levin put a GG shaped imprint into the back wall for it.
tubehows4life 4 days ago
@tubehows4life I disagree. A rhetorical question in a proceeding like this one is irregular and should never be answered directly because it can so easily be quoted later out of context, something GG has much experience. Also, the high and mighty opening statement was made by Senate Republican Chair Coleman who lost election to liberal Democrat Al Franken & now works as lobbyist & board director for Republican Jewish Coalition. The answer was excellent because it is hugely embarrasing,
jereuter01 1 day ago
@jereuter01 Coleman was no doubt lofty too, but GG was using a senate hearing specifically about his connections in the OFFP as a political platform about the Iraq war, which he is welcome to do in his own time but I think Levin saw what he was doing, with his masses of British journalists who followed him over to cover this, so he stuck it to him: GG seeming untroubled by illegally circumvented kickbacks to his appeal undermined his pedestal, especially as GG is a very legalese guy.

That "million children" thing is bullshit. I was against the Iraq invasion from day 1, but the sanctions were not killing anyone. Iraq has a huge agricultural sector, and always had, plus there was cheating from the start - particularly from the bordering countries (Jordan and Turkey especially.)

So did russia...how many people died of starvation due to govermant controlled farming?
Why the fuck do you think Japan attacked U.S in 1941.....oh thats right due to sanctions that was crippiling the economic structure of Japan ( food shortage)
Also look up sanctions on germany after WW1...
stonewall1888 5 months ago
@stonewall1888 Japan attacked because of the OIL EMBARGO, not food.
The Russians starved because they are Russians.
Germany always relied heavily on food imports, which the Brits were cutting off. All invalid comparisons. Iraq cheated from Day 1.

In fact, now that I think of it, I've agreed with everything he's said that I've heard so far.
shaamanplatinum 4 months ago
@Faboba Sorry, did I just read that Spain, Germany and Russia said that there WERE wmds in Iraq? No. There were not. Get YOUR facts right. Even the american government knows that their attack was wrongful.
That's as ridiculous as purporting that that Iran is trying to get nuclear weaponry, despite the fact that it's a theocracy and that has constantly condemned the EXISTENCE of nuclear weaponry. It's also a SHIA muslim theocracy, which completely out-rules that notion.
shaamanplatinum 4 months ago
@shaamanplatinum I think you meant that reply to be directed at someone else? Regardless; I have never suggested Iraq had WMD, I did not believe that to be the case. Galloway was not alone in his opposition to the war, a list of MPs can be found voting 'aye' here (Youtube won't let me post the link, check the publicwhip's office for the 26-02-2003 vote (note; 100% of the Liberal Democrats). And the fact that Iran is Shi'a does not mean hey have no interest in acquiring nuclear weapons.
Faboba 4 months ago
@Faboba
sorry for the mistake, the comment was directed at someone else.
