@KikyoChanXD Actually I was here (nearly a year ago) because I was interested in this movie. When I looked down at the comments and saw that there were people arguing over the legitimacy of the theory of evolution, I couldn't resist the temptation to join the argument. I didn't want to be a troll; I hoped (irrationally) that I might actually persuade someone to reconsider the possibility of evolution being true.
I really loved this movie!! I mean you really did get a great discription what it must have been like during that time in Christ's birth with Mary and Joesph, and their relationship. My only thing about the movie there were scenes that did felt like it was an action movie, like the scene where mary and Joesph were crossing that river of rushing river!! lol But, seriuosly, great movie, I was just glad it was in English and had no subtitles!!
@artistjada until the late 1800's in the West, no one married for love...it was all about property, security, alliances...so, she wouldn't be wondering why she had to marry him if she doesn't love him. Plus, she's pretty old at 16 or so....most girls were married or betrothed at 12 or 13.... And she would have known him...it's a tiny village, where, likely everyone's related in one way or another.
@DimeraFan28 history tells a different story...the Romans weren't nearly as bad and the Jews weren't nearly as good. But, it is a terrible scene in the movie, nevertheless.
This Is Still The Best Movie Ever, It's so Unbelievable, Wonderful, and Amazing too, I Remember renting this movie in December, and it was so Unbelievable, I was just hooked on it, I think that the girl that played the virgin mary is so beautiful, and the guy that played Joseph is so handsome, So I hope that Everyone watched this movie, It's the best movie to watch during the Holiday Season.

I Remember a friend of mine went to see this movie when it was in theater's on December 19th, and my friend told me that it was unbelievable. my friend had never seen anything like it. oh btw I think that Olivia Hussey is stil the best person to play the virgin mary.
If you come from a poor family in most parts of the world your parents arrange a marriage for you. I kinda like the idea of an arrange marriage, you don't have to love your spouse right away. People learn to love their spouses in time.

There is one detail about this movie which should be corrected: Mary would not have been forced to marry Joseph. Yes, the father and the groom worked out the arrangement, but according to tradition Mary was under no compulsion to agree to it. Drinking from the cup and signifying her agreement was, historically, an act of free will.

If you study it (and I don't mean just reading anti-evolution essays), it may start making more sense and sounding more plausible to you. Also, if it helps, you can interpret the Bible metaphorically to support it, as you've done with the Big Bang. First fish, then birds, then land animals, last humans.

It has never been anything more than a theory because no one has been able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that it is fact. Same thing with the Christian perspective.

The creationist and evolutionist perspectives are both theories. THere is evidence to both sides. Overwhelming for either? No If there were one or the other would be named a law. As you say that the creationists are a minority, do you really think that if there were lots of evidence for evolution that it wouldn't have been a law by now?

They don't have as dark as skin on average as Israelis. And sorry to disappoint you, but there IS at least a stereotypical Jewish look in the U.S. Not all Jews fit it, of course, but most do due to the fact that they are an ethnoreligious group thus the people have similar features to one another, like any other ethnic group.
Why don't you like how they portrayed Mary? Really, there isn't a whole lot known about Mary and Joseph. I went to Sunday School for all of my childhood and never learned much at all about the Middle East pre-Christianity and early Christianity. I'm looking for resources that tell more about events in the Bible from other's viewpoints. It's not that I don't believe the accounts of the Bible. I just have never seen other works that speak of the happenings of this time.

There is one detail about this movie which should be corrected: Mary would not have been forced to marry Joseph. Yes, the father and the groom worked out the arrangement, but according to tradition Mary was under no compulsion to agree to it. Drinking from the cup and signifying her agreement was, historically, an act of free will.

If you study it (and I don't mean just reading anti-evolution essays), it may start making more sense and sounding more plausible to you. Also, if it helps, you can interpret the Bible metaphorically to support it, as you've done with the Big Bang. First fish, then birds, then land animals, last humans.

The creationist and evolutionist perspectives are both theories. THere is evidence to both sides. Overwhelming for either? No If there were one or the other would be named a law. As you say that the creationists are a minority, do you really think that if there were lots of evidence for evolution that it wouldn't have been a law by now?

I went to Sunday School for all of my childhood and never learned much at all about the Middle East pre-Christianity and early Christianity. I'm looking for resources that tell more about events in the Bible from other's viewpoints. It's not that I don't believe the accounts of the Bible. I just have never seen other works that speak of the happenings of this time.
