Sony has confirmed that they are working on bringing the entire Syphon Filter series from the PS2 to the PlayStation 3. The upcoming collection will contain high-definition versions of the classic Syphon Filter games that were released on the PS2. The collection will contain Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain, together with Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror and Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow.

If you go their website, you can see various in-development scenes and renders of characters and locations which look just like Uncharted areas. Yeah, I checked your link from another video. Nice cover. :) As you pointed out a forum member e-mailed John Garvin and he confirmed that there would be no more Syphon Filter games. At least we now know for sure that Lian is the only character left.
I never knew that. Sucks to hear this series didn't sell well. What I wouldn't give to have the series continued on the ngp. I was thinking of all sorts of crazy directions the series could go after the ending in LS... *sigh* Ah well, it was great while it lasted. I'd have rather seen SF on the npg than Uncharted though. Spin offs and prequels can only do so much and their stories rarely feel that important.
The new Uncharted should be great though with Sony Bend behind it.
@TallRobby Yeah, it's a load of bull on Hard mode. They have crazy-good accuracy on Hard mode and you're on a moving platform to boot, so you have to whore the machine-gun for a while, lol.

Well it has been confirmed by a sony bend member that they are making a digital graphic novel that will be released this summer on the psn store.

It's been like 2 or 3 years since the last Syphon Filter. I wish they just told us that the Syphon Filter series is over! @Rudemario1 The "british woman" is Maggie Powers, and she made her first appearance in Syphon Filter 3. She gets put into custody in this game because MI6 wanted the virus for themselves.
Lawrence Mujari is a freelance bio-chemist who made his first appearance in Syphon Filter 2. He helped keep Lian alive with temporary antidotes until Gabe could get the vaccine from The Agency's labs.
Why won't they tell us that all of them died so they could stop hearing us question whether they died or not. I don't think Gabe or any of the agents died. Gabe was shot many times throughout the series! it would have been better if they kept going. they could've just made flashbacks of the shooting or something and end up in the hospital in the next one. im kinda pissed that nothing has been said and how it ended without some of the characters not knowing everything which can make it better.

As you probably know, it represents Lian. She never told Gabe that she loved him. She dreamed about being with Gabe but it never happened. And she loved him but never managed to start a relationship with him and never will.
I haven't played the game yet and I tried to read in wikipedia the story, but IT DOESN'T explain why Trinidad shot Teresa and Gabe at the end! Please, tell me!!
Simply put, Trinidad was a whore who was angry that she couldn't finish her mission. Her way to get revenge was to come and finish off Gabe and his crew before they could set up shop. Whether or not Teresa, Gabe, and Mujari survive has yet to be determined.
hey i really think that teresa is fine she was shot with a bigger gun by chance in SF2 and in this one she was still moving because she was shot with just a pistol if she beat death once she can do it again but I think mujari gone and gabe may be dead or alive now i really think he's gone will they live or die who knowns but teresa is fine im sure of it
Penguingod101, I'm pretty sure that Trinidad managed to kill Mujari. He never moves and speaks. Teresa does. It's possible that she lives. Gabe is probably dead though.
Killing him off was retarded. That was not necessary. He never even managed to tell Blake Hargrove that he was her father or spend the rest of his life with her mother Addison.
As for the answer to Gabe's question at the end, I believe Lian would have went into hiding with Shen Rei. She still loved him.
I agree with you, Naroon. The ending to this game is basically a cliff-hanger, and no one ends games like that (at least not purposly). This was my first syphon filter, and dammit, it better not be my last.
I just hope that one day someone is going to get a competent dev team to make a Syphon Filter remake. Since the Ps1 games were always the best of the series and has been going down hill. Plus I hope Sony just lets go of Syphon Filter already. If Syphon Filter 2 had a PC release and online play I guarantee that Omega Strain would have been 20x better
I think that the first three Syphons were the best. They had the best storytelling, the best atmosphere, and best overall feeling. It'd be great if the last Syphon comes out on the PS3 with online play, co-op and competitive, and returns to the style of the PS1 games.
I would actually prefer if Sony lets go of Syphon Filter and another company like Activision remakes either Syphon Filter 1,2,3 for the PC. Because Sony is way to much of a monopoly now due to their losses in sales now. Most likely they would choose a less then competant developer to develop a badly designed game (*cough*Omega Strain*cough*)
If syphon filter 2 had a PC release and Online play Omega Strain would have been 20x better. Plus Syphon Filter would have been way more popular
Well Sony Bend has always been the developer of SF. I doubt any PC releases would have helped in any way, besides the fact that most copies would have been pirated like any other game.
Sony should let go of SF when they finish the story, which I hope happens in the next installment.
PC releases are always known to keep a game alive for far longer then it's life time. If you look at a game like Red Faction. If it didn't have online multiplayer and a PC release I can guarantee it wouldn't be as well known as it is now.
Publishers have been known to push their needs on developers. If you look at Omega Strain Sony pushed a lot onto the developers and the game eventually suffered.
Games are always going to be pirated. There is no way around that.
Barely anyone even plays Red Faction online anymore, and RF2 didn't even have online. Of course games will always be pirated, but you can't pirate PS3 games because no one found a way to crack them yet.
Omega Strain just wasn't that great of a game to begin with gameplay-wise. Released in 2004, it was a modern shooter with controls from a previous generation, and the actual gameplay (defuse bombs, kill endless hordes of enemies) got boring quickly. Nothing could save it.
I meant if Syphon filter 2 got a PC release it would have received far more of a fanbase then it did in 2004. If it did then most likely Sony would have at least hired a much better development team to work on Omega Strain since they would have been expecting more sales and recognition

Few months ago, someone found "Syphon Filter 5" registered on some site as being in development, with Sony Bend being the developer, and them recruiting "Anyone with Xbox 360 or next-gen game development history."
Actually, a rumor from 2007 or so said the PS3 game would be co-developed alongside a PSP version, with both versions being interchangeable. The concept was that someone who owned both games could access extra possible story elements, weapons, gadgets, and things of that nature.
Of course, no concrete confirmation so we'll just have to see. Maybe at E3, but I doubt it even then since they've been mum about everything since Combat Arms released.
At E3 I will not pay any attention to Sony or Microsoft. For me both eyes are on Nintendo. They better announce something huge. The drought of games is killing the hardcore gamers and Nintendo is bound to impress. If Nintendo announces something big I will loose almost all interest in this thing until the SF psp game is out. If it is a Zelda I might never get it.

No worries, I read that too. Quite disappointing and I stopped having hope for a new SF a while back. I think Sony Bend just wanted to move on, so they offed Gabe and his friends. I guess all that's left are for some desperate fans to go write some horrific fanfics with homosexual overtones and resurrecting long-dead characters.

It's been like 2 or 3 years since the last Syphon Filter. I wish they just told us that the Syphon Filter series is over! If there is a new Syphon Filter, that is the only reason why I still have my ps3. I don't think Socom will ever be the same. Syphon Filter is the only game I really like because I've been playing it for a long time! I hate all the other PS3 games! Those other PS3 games make no sense! I shoot someone in the head in Call of Duty one time and their still alive! I love SF!

technically it would be Syphon Filter 6 cause Dark Mirror is 4 and Logan's Shadow is 5 but they would probably give it another back name like those 2. But Gabe will probably be alive because remember Teresa faked her death after the 2nd one so Gabe can do the same.

@NYBornJM Allow me to correct you a bit: The next Syphon Filter would be 7 because we have 1, 2, 3, The Omega Strain (4), Dark Mirror (5) and Logan's Shadow (6). Have Dark Mirror for ym PSP, trying to get this one again too :)

No, they didn't release Logan's Shadow on PS2. I don't think there will ever be another Syphon Filter.

@Rudemario1 The "british woman" is Maggie Powers, and she made her first appearance in Syphon Filter 3. She gets put into custody in this game because MI6 wanted the virus for themselves.
Lawrence Mujari is a freelance bio-chemist who made his first appearance in Syphon Filter 2. He helped keep Lian alive with temporary antidotes until Gabe could get the vaccine from The Agency's labs.

Why won't they tell us that all of them died so they could stop hearing us question whether they died or not. I don't think Gabe or any of the agents died. Gabe was shot many times throughout the series! Maybe a new Syphon Filter will come out for the ps3 and maybe Gabe and the others will be sent to the cemetery but when they open his coffin, he won't be there! :) Maybe the company is wanting to make the game better seeing as you guys hated the past 3 or 4(not SF 1,2,or 3). lol

OMG i totaly missed this when i beat the game!!! Ive been an avid syphon filter junkie from the get go and this, this just blew my mind! How the hell are you going to just kill Gabe and crew off like that? This realy bothers me lol

if you chosse 4 online i woud say logans shadow if you choose for dark mirror u get better mission but u cant swim in dark mirror and on logans shadow you can

Not everyone can play Logan's Shadow online! I bought it and I'm cooming to some fucking shit that asks me to put in some account handle and password. I don't have shitty idea what that account handle or pass could be!

it would have been better if they kept going. they could've just made flashbacks of the shooting or something and end up in the hospital in the next one. im kinda pissed that nothing has been said and how it ended without some of the characters not knowing everything which can make it better.

Oh, and one more thing. I find the song that plays while Lian gives Gabe CPR ironic.

As you probably know, it represents Lian. She never told Gabe that she loved him. She dreamed about being with Gabe but it never happened. And she loved him but never managed to start a relationship with him and never will.

Simply put, Trinidad was a whore who was angry that she couldn't finish her mission. Her way to get revenge was to come and finish off Gabe and his crew before they could set up shop. Whether or not Teresa, Gabe, and Mujari survive has yet to be determined.

hey i really think that teresa is fine she was shot with a bigger gun by chance in SF2 and in this one she was still moving because she was shot with just a pistol if she beat death once she can do it again but I think mujari gone and gabe may be dead or alive now i really think he's gone will they live or die who knowns but teresa is fine im sure of it

Penguingod101, I'm pretty sure that Trinidad managed to kill Mujari. He never moves and speaks. Teresa does. It's possible that she lives. Gabe is probably dead though.
Killing him off was retarded. That was not necessary. He never even managed to tell Blake Hargrove that he was her father or spend the rest of his life with her mother Addison.
As for the answer to Gabe's question at the end, I believe Lian would have went into hiding with Shen Rei. She still loved him.

I agree with you, Naroon. The ending to this game is basically a cliff-hanger, and no one ends games like that (at least not purposly). This was my first syphon filter, and dammit, it better not be my last.

I just hope that one day someone is going to get a competent dev team to make a Syphon Filter remake. Since the Ps1 games were always the best of the series and has been going down hill. Plus I hope Sony just lets go of Syphon Filter already. If Syphon Filter 2 had a PC release and online play I guarantee that Omega Strain would have been 20x better

I think that the first three Syphons were the best. They had the best storytelling, the best atmosphere, and best overall feeling. It'd be great if the last Syphon comes out on the PS3 with online play, co-op and competitive, and returns to the style of the PS1 games.

I would actually prefer if Sony lets go of Syphon Filter and another company like Activision remakes either Syphon Filter 1,2,3 for the PC. Because Sony is way to much of a monopoly now due to their losses in sales now. Most likely they would choose a less then competant developer to develop a badly designed game (*cough*Omega Strain*cough*)
If syphon filter 2 had a PC release and Online play Omega Strain would have been 20x better. Plus Syphon Filter would have been way more popular

Well Sony Bend has always been the developer of SF. I doubt any PC releases would have helped in any way, besides the fact that most copies would have been pirated like any other game.
Sony should let go of SF when they finish the story, which I hope happens in the next installment.

PC releases are always known to keep a game alive for far longer then it's life time. If you look at a game like Red Faction. If it didn't have online multiplayer and a PC release I can guarantee it wouldn't be as well known as it is now.
Publishers have been known to push their needs on developers. If you look at Omega Strain Sony pushed a lot onto the developers and the game eventually suffered.
Games are always going to be pirated. There is no way around that.

Barely anyone even plays Red Faction online anymore, and RF2 didn't even have online. Of course games will always be pirated, but you can't pirate PS3 games because no one found a way to crack them yet.
Omega Strain just wasn't that great of a game to begin with gameplay-wise. Released in 2004, it was a modern shooter with controls from a previous generation, and the actual gameplay (defuse bombs, kill endless hordes of enemies) got boring quickly. Nothing could save it.

I meant if Syphon filter 2 got a PC release it would have received far more of a fanbase then it did in 2004. If it did then most likely Sony would have at least hired a much better development team to work on Omega Strain since they would have been expecting more sales and recognition

Possibly not, but there have been a lot of rumors and such backing up s 2009 release. A lot of us want it to be released soon, but it definitely won't be released any later than 2010.

yeah it is confirmed some company that does motion capture mentioned that they are involved in syphon filter 5 and Sony Bend is believed to be working on it because they posted an ad asking for a senior game tools programmer with ps3 experience

I heard a rumor about syphon filter 7. To be honest, I wouldnt be suprised if they continued the series. They could make a new lead character, or make a prequal. Who knows?

Nope, I'm pretty sure a sequel will come eventually, but I hope it'll be the last one. Few months ago, someone found "Syphon Filter 5" registered on some site as being in development, with Sony Bend being the developer, and them recruiting "Anyone with Xbox 360 or next-gen game development history."
Screams "PS3 Syphon" to me.

Actually, a rumor from 2007 or so said the PS3 game would be co-developed alongside a PSP version, with both versions being interchangeable. The concept was that someone who owned both games could access extra possible story elements, weapons, gadgets, and things of that nature.
Of course, no concrete confirmation so we'll just have to see. Maybe at E3, but I doubt it even then since they've been mum about everything since Combat Arms released.

At E3 I will not pay any attention to Sony or Microsoft. For me both eyes are on Nintendo. They better announce something huge. The drought of games is killing the hardcore gamers and Nintendo is bound to impress. If Nintendo announces something big I will loose almost all interest in this thing until the SF psp game is out. If it is a Zelda I might never get it.

Sorry to disappoint you but that was just an error listed on the website. A game website posted a reply from a represenative.
"I apologize for the confusion. There appears to be some errors on our credits. Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror was recorded a few years back with Image Metrics, and we recorded Red Steel for the Wii. We recently worked on Socom FTB 3 for the PSP."
I think the Syphon Filter series is over. Logan and Mujari are dead. Don't know about Teresa.

No worries, I read that too. Quite disappointing and I stopped having hope for a new SF a while back. I think Sony Bend just wanted to move on, so they offed Gabe and his friends. I guess all that's left are for some desperate fans to go write some horrific fanfics with homosexual overtones and resurrecting long-dead characters.

Homosexual overtones? Anyway, the ending to this game is ****** up. I didn't like it. I don't mean to sound cynical. It's pretty messed up that basically Lian caused the death of the two men that she loved (Shen Rei and Gabriel Logan) and her two friends.
Trinidad was a bitch but she was smart too. Hurting Lian by killing the man that she loved (Logan) is the worst torture that she could do.
