We Americans don't get much exposure to the breadth of Japanese cinema because most of what comes over here meets certain standards. If we need an example that not all Japanese movies are great, this is it. This movie makes me feel bad for Ito Junji.

@ARandomDaydreamer About the Uzumaki. I agree. I think for an adaption that is set with real actors, it makes more sense to have the story lines occur over time. Not one after another like in the book. It makes sense to have the spiral affecting multiple people at the same time.

I like how from the beginning they incorporated all the stuff leading up to the later parts. (such as the 'surprise guy' and the 'snail guy') I mean, in the manga Kirie would just say 'there was this guy in my class' and it seemed really sudden. But I like how they're leading up to it by bringing out the characters early on in this movie. :D Great manga, turning into a pretty good movie.

People who keep complaining about the movie shouldn't. Sure, they could have done it better (much better), but it could have been much worse. I mean, at least Uwe Boll didn't direct it. Besides, with the small budget that went into this movie, it was done pretty well.

That aside, I do feel legitimately ripped off that they didn't show the guy all twisted in the washing machine, and that ladies eyes being all weird didn't make any sense.

I think it's a good representation of the manga, actually I think it's better. Even though it is not as sick on some scenes but it represents the overall story, and it makes more sense in time organization rather than the manga. The washing machine is a great idea and it doesn't show the corpse cos I think it leaves the image to the viewers. But again, the acting is horrible.
