  • There is a freedom in being homeless, penniless and without obligations that drain our soul.

A certain freedom that cannot be surpassed. Not all homeless people are unhappy about their situation.in the 80,s I spent one year living homeless, yes sometimes its hard but you get clever, very clever and very resourceful, there are just as many unhappy people living in mansions and driving Lexus cars as there are homeless.Life is truly what you make it and happiness a state of mind.

  • @rockcityaudio well I been homeless in the bat area off and on for 10 years and it realy sucks. And no mater what, its just time tell u end up in jail, some how some way. I think people go to hawaii to be homeless its warm year round even in the rainy season and all elce fails you can fish and pic frute, I know if I ever end up homless again Ill steal panhandel go caning what ever it takes to get a plain ticket to hawaii, rather be homless in hawaii then NY or some place cold

  • @rockcityaudio You should be doing everything in your power to be a responsible hard working citizen of Hawai'i. I'm not rich and I don't drive a Lexus or live in a mansion. But my kupuna raised me to work hard, contribute to society and be proud of my Hawaiian culture. I will clean toilets and collect cans before I'm homeless.

  • @Nina37Seattle Wow you're so angry and mean! Hopefully you will be homeless someday then you will gain some compassion before you go judging others so harshly, not everyone is as perfect as you are.

  • If,I ever come looking for a Job in Hawaii,I better get a Airline certifcate to return home, just in case I don"t have the money to go back to mainland, some of the people don"t have the money to return home and they indeed become Homelesss,Thats why you should always buy a roundtrip ticket, just in case. Some of them didn"t even buy a roundtrip, only one way ticket to paradise, this time without a home.Don"t let that happen to you.

  • There is enough in this world for man's need, but not for man's greed.

  • beautiful video and it shows the other side of Hawaii, homeless are also human and we have to think in others in need because I think there are many among them who are good people and honest is the same around the world specially in these difficult time with people struggling with their incoming, we can be in that place too so we can’t judge those people I am sure all of them wish a better place to live. I hope they find their way and a safe place to live and raise their children.

  • This will only get worse as the economy continues to go to hell

  • That big guy on the bench by the beach reminds me of my dad... I'm tearing up what if that happened to him.

  • These people need to stop using drugs and get a job.

  • @rubin808

i used to be homeless and u dont even know how hard it was getting by I was 16 now im 22 and i was never on drugs. Not all homeless got there from abusing drugs unfortunate events happen all the time so u should be thankful ur not in their situation and hope u dont end up struggling.

  • @rubin808 Show some sympathy for these people! That kind of attitude comes from people who are spoiled and fortunate enough to have never been in this kind of situation. Not all of these people are drunks, drug abusers, and lazy. Many of them are disabled or mentally/physically handicap. How would you feel if you were in their position and some snob told you to get off drugs and get a job?! Hawaii is a hard place to be poor

  • poverty is on a global scale..This is only a small part of it..We must work together to end poverty before it gets worse!!

  • We have fallen in the category of houselessness recently. We are not BAD people, just ran onto BAD times. We have met many houseless people that are very supportive because this is new to us, they are people just like your neighbor next door with a twist (we're houseless). Being Stereotyped won't change the situation, but being supportive will give us hope.

  • @lokenanilono Yeah, there is nothing "bad" about being homeless. It is a sad thing. could happen to anyone at anytime. there are big differences between being "homeless" and being a "bum" bums do not want help, just a handout. there are plenty of bums that wouldn't take a job if you offered it. I have pity for the homeless and wish I could help.

  • this sad worst part there are yound ppl u wouldnever tell homeless and has far has scam does it matter i mean ill give ol boy 5 10 cause he need it wether he buy a meal or beer up to him god know i done

  • I say help the little kids. To those who work deserve help. but the people who SCAM to get money I say to hell with them I pity and feel sorry but if all they want is a hand out I say to them GET A JOB!!! In my opinion I say Help the Homeless not the Hopeless...

  • Thank you for your integrity and heart

  • Some of these people do not want the shelter, the jobs, the food that is being offered to them, and the other assistance that is offered to them. They have a mental illness that affects a large portion of people. Maybe we should treat the Mental Illness, instead of the homelessness.

  • @tennes2465 you may be right, but for now i think i will stay in Europe, i think the paradise is overhere where i live, not Hawaii

  • Not an easy like being homeless. But as homelessness lives go its not as bad as living in NY or even warmer LA on the streets.
