Am I the only one who thinks that Midheaven was a great album in it's own right? Yes, it's not even remotely similar to Nocturne but people don't seem to consider that THAT WAS THE POINT? Fans reacted shit because "oooh they experiment too much" but if they'd gone and done Nocturne 2.0 they would have said they were reptitive. Midheaven had a far more melodic approach at making music, the riffs aren't any less cool than Nocturnes. You can't say Tapley is a worse writer than AJ. Just different.

I used to think Dean was just an ok guitar player, but after seeing that he did most of the shredding on midheaven and now i'm learning that he's covering a lot of the leads from nocturne my respect for him is going way up

The parts they play have been consistent in every video I've seen. And if Dean was to take all of the hard parts that AJ used to play, that says to me that Tapley couldn't play them.

the whole tour had monks follow it and they handed out books for donations, most people just threw them on stages all day
