TITANIC IS BETTER THAN AVATAR. THAT IS A FACT. HOWEVER, AVATAR HAS MADE $940 MILLION MORE THAN TITANIC. WE HAVE THE CHANCE TO CHANGE THIS. TITANIC IS BEING RE-RELEASED INTO CINEMAS IN 3D NEXT YEAR TO CELEBRATE THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SINKING OF TITANIC. IF EVERYONE GOES TO SEE IT, THEN TITANIC WILL RECLAIM IT'S CORRECT POSITION AS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL FILM OF ALL TIME. TELL ALL OF YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS TO GET OUT AND GO TO SEE IT. I saw the show in NYC years ago-and forgot about the piano crashing down on poor Thomas Andrews ! Will say-as good as the original production was-it had no hunky shirtless fella singing !
Um....I could name a plethora of musicals that don't have happy endings, or that are based on serious and/or tragic subject matter. Not all musicals are sunshine and rainbows you know. And this particular musical is very respectful and treats the story with due reverence. Please educate yourself.
I saw it on Broadway and always had a question: on Broadway the stage had 3 floors (each one was one of the classes) and while the ship sank, the stage would literally tilt to a good 60 to 75 degrees. Ok, I know that the school productions don't have that, but did the touring or the foreign versions had it ?
The US tour had the tilting deck but it was flush with the floor instead of being raised multiple levels - so it was like a flat tilting deck as opposed to what you see in this version or the Bway . The Tour didn't have the three tiered set used during the "No Moon" sequence though. I know that this version (the Dutch) and the Japenese versions also tilted the ship during the sinking, but I dont know about the others. I assume yes :)
@Megfly I also saw the US touring version and thought the single deck was very effective during the sinking. From my orchestra seat, I could see that it was worked with ropes and pulleys. Made me wonder why they spent millions on hydraulics in NYC with a 3 level set when 19th century theatre technology and a bunch of talented actors presented a very emotional and surprising scene -- to about a 30- to 45-degree pitch of the stage.
This is excellent! I
