  • Yes! I have to confess that I have Kaiser #4, and used it in two recitals (instead of my wooden ones) in December of 2011. The newer Kaisers are better than mine, and mine still plays quite well. If you want an affordable and playable serpent, there is no need to lament when Russ Kaiser keeps them so affordable.

  • Nice job. This is the first video I've found with well-played serpent music.

  • that sounded amazing :3

i wish i knew how to play brass but im a woodwind :/ i play clarinet and bassoon only

  • That was beautiful

  • i play tuba and i want this so bad

  • whoa....its so cool!

  • Having that many brass instruments make me jealous :3

  • Nice playing, thanks for posting it :-P

  • Hmm, sounds pretty cool, actually

  • I just responded with a video recorded this in March this year as a novelty birthday greeting for my Facebook friends. I've not been brave enough to record a performance of anything more complicated.

  • Nicely played! I have a Kaiser of my own (#27), and wrestle with it almost daily. Thank you for the inspiration.

  • Fantatsic! Always glad to hear of other serpent enthusiasts out there! I have number #15.... Lets hear you real soon! I must post another video soon.

  • It's unique. :)

  • Finally a video of someone playing a serpent well

  • You play very gracefully and smoothly, and with a charming sound--which, from what I understand, is a monumental achievement as far as this instrument goes. It can be hard to take this instrument seriously.

  • Thank you very much for your kind words. I think the serpent has a very unique sound and one that often gets a bad name. Perhaps it is not the instrument that is always to be blamed....

  • Thanks--I've read about these instruments but have never had the chance to hear one.

  • I don't think I've seen this instrument before. What a beautifully smooth, and soothing sound.

  • What's the tune? Or is it just a made up demo that's reasonable to play on the serpent?

  • This is part of an original tune of mine entitled "Yearning". I will be putting a group together shortly playign serpent, tuba and ophicleide. I shall post more videos then... Thanks for checking it out!

  • very nice!
