Naw, my cats prefer centipedes :). I can't stand looking at centipedes - the ones up north, that is, with relatively short bodies but long 'freakin legs 39, to be exact. AND THEY MOVE FAST!
@celticbattleaxe If you want to see a big centipede, I used to have a pet centipede, and those videos are on my jimbobpics channel. But be warned, the video shows it eating a mouse, and it was much too big to feed to my cats.
@BeanMeister22 I don't mind it eating a mouse, but gosh are they aggressive. They freak me out. Spiders don't. I remember seeing a house spider take on a wasp, and it won and chowed down on the wasp, but it took HOURS. Must have been a desperate spider. The wasp landed in the web, wrapped itself up, and the spider, about half the size of the wasp, kept on trying to wrap up the wasp more, while the wasp kept trying to unwind the silk.
Hey these spiders are in the UK, I doubt they are as big for some reason, they usually reach about 1-1.5 inches long (body) and 3-4 inches long tip to tip legspan diameter!
the worst place we find them is in the Bath, places with water, leave your plug in the bath!!!
AND DRAINS, I would hate to have to work under those drain covers.. EEK!!
I don't kill spiders tho, I let them go outside, hoping they find somewhere else :P
lol mine was bigger :D i live the east midlands in the uk and when we took down our old shed we found one about tht size with loads of spider corpses around it :P ive not seen them mch though i have to say :P
i live in uk we had a huge house spider in our living room last week,i got 3 cats they see it move went up to it and run off,i was like thanks a fucking lot went and put my shoe on and smashed it
Just recently I was getting bites from these bastards, I found 2 big ones and got one out but one has got away somewhere, they wait until you sleep then bite the softest part of your face, neck, arms etc and drink your blood, you can see where when you wake up.
It's unusual for an animal from Britain to invade another country and be noted for being unusually large, fast and scary. Still.. not poisonous or the least bit dangerous.
Just caught one of those into jar. This thing is huge. I hate spiders. When I thing this monster was lurking in my house I have goose bumps. I need to buy a cat. Living in UK right now btw. They have monster spiders here. Seriously. Im happy soon Im going back home.
@UnusualScape I live on the West Coast of the US, but these spiders originally came from the UK into Canada, and then they headed south until they got here.
@BeanMeister22 I live in the UK- Normally the wildlife here isn't bad.. UNTILL ONE OF THESE BITCHES ROLLS UP!
They are litteraly the most terrifying bugs I have ever seen... and over here, where all the other bugs are tiny- hunter spiders (house spiders) get huge.... ridiculously huge, and their favourite places are: Your bed, things you put your hands in, the ceiling above your bed, under things you need to pick up, and of course, your face.
@BeanMeister22 : here in germany we call em "Kellerspinnen" which ist translated "basement spiders"! They ain´t dangerous, their body is about 2-3 cm and they live in dark corners in the basement ^^
@DAVIEtheDUDE He is correct they are originally from North Western Europe, and can be found in most parts of the UK as well. I’ve seen one or two where I live in SW England. They are not dangerous to humans, but they are able to bite through human skin.
@skifi1 Funny you would say that, because at work today their were a couple of flies in the office, and I hate flies almost as much as spiders. I told the guys that if we had some cats in here, we'd never have flies again.
2:05 what if you flushes the spider and started to take a dump and it came back up and went in your butt.now the spider wont be a hobo spider....not a home spider....BUT AN ASSSPIDER
@ThePermareperterram 3 days ago I found a false widow spider in my house, and now I keep feeling them all over me. And yes, I have a lot of run-ins with spiders...and I hate them!
As much as I love my spiders, knowing I could get bitten in my sleep by a dangerous one would mess with me. Which is why it's good to live in Alaska, because everything that can kill you hear can be heard coming.
Get your facts right. Brown recluse spiders venom is not harmful to humans. The only reason they are dangerous is because they have a very small chance of causing necrosis.
@ploxioths "In one study of clinically-diagnosed brown recluse bites, the incidence of skin necrosis was 37% and the incidence of systemic illness was 14%" from Wikipedia. Additionally, experts agree that most of the reported Brown Recluse bites are actually Hobo Spider bites; misidentification is common between the Hobo Spider, Brown Recluse, and the Giant House Spider. Sometimes even spider experts can't be sure without taking a knife to them.
@ploxioths The Brown Recluse is the fourth most dangerous spider to humans. It is uncommon for a human to die from a spider bite, but there are lots of very dangerous species that have been known to kill humans on occasion. Brazilian Wandering Spiders and Black Widows are notorious for this. Sydney Funnel Web spiders and Brown Recluses have a much lower kill rate but are still considered extremely dangerous to humans.
Brown Recluse venom is most certainly harmful to humans.
@ploxioths STFU troll. Saying it over and over doesn't make it true and I'm sure you know that. When you get corrected by someone (or two people!) who know better than you, you should either look it up and find out or secede that you're likely wrong.
@BeanMeister22 no I didn't, but I'll have to look it up. Thanks for notifying me!
*reads article*
I have to say, it seems suspect. Granted, if he has bite marks on his foot and then he died, any logical person would jump to the conclusion that he was bitten by the nearest deadly animal. But as far as I know, black widows don't go wandering much, so it seems unlikely that he would have been bitten multiple times in his sleep by one, unless perhaps it were a mutant with a taste for human flesh.
@Corpzmaker91 lol dude just move already, im in canada and i know lots of people who go in the woods and i saw lots of small spiders but i never saw a big one like the one in this video. also, considering the fact there is snow half of the year in canada, we are prolly the country with the less spiders.
@mrgoldarowana I wish you were right. I live in Vancouver and we get these guys quite often in the summer. Although aside from the SW corner of the country, your probably right about it being too cold.
@Fatasswilly4 I read that they also have a stronghold in lower Northeast Canada and down into the US a bit, and they got there the same way as we got ours; on a ship from the UK.
@simba90s These spiders are originally from North Western Europe, and are very common in the UK. They first showed up in North America in Victoria BC in the 1920s, and have been migrating both southward and eastward since then. They are common in the Pacific Northwest; both US and Canada. They are often called funnel web spiders, but their real name is Genus: Tegenaria, Species: T. duellica (formerly known as T. gigantea)
We got them from Canada, and Canada got them from England :)
@dylanisyourfather They are not really forest spiders, they are called house spiders for a reason. So if you were to start poking around in the celler of an older building in the UK, then you would more than likely find them. Go to Wiki and type in Giant House Spider, and you can read all about it. Also, I lived in this area most of my life, and it was not until I moved to my current house, that I saw one of these for the first time.
@BeanMeister22 Me being British i do sincerely apologise for giving everyone these horrible creatures! they can get MASSIVE and are incredibly common here in the UK. Every time i see one, my cat has a meal haha.
We had them up in scotland... I shit myself when i first found one in my bath! But i mustered all my will and strength to get a large enough glass and a peice of board or lid and trapped it and put it outside, two days later i found it in my guinea pigs cage. scared them into a corner. thinking i got rid of the intruder again, it turned up in my ferret's cage...dead! lol... Served him right!
DUDE! YOUR SO RIGHT ABOUT THE CATS THING!!.. its 1:30 at night, and i go to the bathroom, i pet my cat, he doesnt respond to my petting him, and he just keeps staring at something, so i look up to where he staring, that freakin spider scared the CRAP OUUTTA MEE...and i was sooo happy he was there staring at it. or i would have never seen it... and. it was a brown recluse
i cant find that spider any where in my house i checked in my bathroom my room every corner my grage everywhere and i cant find It ;LET ME ASK YOU SOMETHING WHERE DO YOU FIND IT
Ewww! I have arachnophobia, I don't even know why i'm watching this! >.< I'm soooo glad we don't have any of those in my house. maybe it's cuz we've got two cats and a dog...
nahh... we don't have lots of bugs... we got ghosts! xD
My lord man I would move. Whenever I see movement in the corner of my eye I automatically think it's a spider, but it's usually just my imagination becuase I'm so terrified of them.
it has the carapace stripe characteristic of most species of wolf spider (which are often mistaken as common house spiders) I caught a wolfy a while back and she's got pretty big!! thanks for sharing the video :)
God damn it, I still can't tell if this thing I caught in my bedroom just as I was going to sleep is a Giant House Spider or a Hobo Spider. I'm researching and googling my ass off and I keep going back and forth... "oh ok, I see now, it's definitely a Hobo...", "wtf, ok, it isn't a Hobo, whew...", "aw crap, it's a friggen' Hobo"
0:14 - "This is a house spider, could be confused for a hobo spider."
Yes, but it is a known fact that if a hobo spider gets into your house, it is no longer homeless and thus becomes a house spider. They are the only species whose name changes acording to its current habitat [citation needed].
@djdogjuam This is the best comment so far, but I do see one small fault with this theory. A hobo is essentially a bum, and even if a bum has his own house, he is still a bum. Therefore if we use the Hobo-orean Theorem, we can reasonably conclude that a hobo will still be a hobo, even if he has his own house :)
@BeanMeister22 Agreed. There is a saying that I used to use when I was homeless. And that is "There is more to being homeless than just not having a house." I never understood it really til about a year ago lol
@RyushuSuperCat Yes, it is a very distinct pattern, but even with a pattern like that, it can still be next to impossible, even for experts, to positively tell the difference between a Giant House Spider, and a Hobo Spider. The first is beneficial to have in your house, and the other one is poisonous.
So what were trying to say here is your cats have a "spider sense". So what we can agree on is you have 3 cats that have some on Spidermans powers? Im confused O_O
I was living in host family in UK and in the night i was playing Pc game on my laptop and i desided to switch light becouse it was annoying me, screen light was slightly illuminating my room, and i saw on right of me something moved forward to me, I turned my head AND THAT BIG F@@@@ SPIDER was standing near to me, and next thing that came to my mind was i dont have heavy thing to kill him)) guess what i done???? ^_^
EWWWWWW!! i almost faint and have an heart attack when i see one the size of my little finger nail so you just imagine my reaction to seeing one of those... and the comment saying they live in the uk has made me invest in a cat to sleep with me LMAO
Uh, dude, that's a Wolf Spider.
Still, she's cute :D

My lord man I would move. Whenever I see movement in the corner of my eye I automatically think it's a spider, but it's usually just my imagination becuase I'm so terrified of them.
ViperXXXXXXX 8 months ago
That spider lived 3:55 seconds longer than it would have at my house.....lucky bastard

"Can't flush them down the toilet because they'll work their way back up"
Spiders breath through their skin, they'll probably drown if you flush them.
10dmcghee 8 months ago
how the HELL did you catch that mammoth of a spider? i'm already afraid of little spiders.
jordancurry123456789 8 months ago
are you sure it isn't a wolf spider?
it has the carapace stripe characteristic of most species of wolf spider (which are often mistaken as common house spiders) I caught a wolfy a while back and she's got pretty big!! thanks for sharing the video :)
BooshgaFilms 8 months ago
God damn it, I still can't tell if this thing I caught in my bedroom just as I was going to sleep is a Giant House Spider or a Hobo Spider. I'm researching and googling my ass off and I keep going back and forth... "oh ok, I see now, it's definitely a Hobo...", "wtf, ok, it isn't a Hobo, whew...", "aw crap, it's a friggen' Hobo"
etc...
makemehavefun 8 months ago
Every time i see a spider vid/pic i get a crawling sensation on my arm or leg, and every time i mistake it for s spider and jump lol.
At times like this i feel lucky to be Irish

0:14 - "This is a house spider, could be confused for a hobo spider."
Yes, but it is a known fact that if a hobo spider gets into your house, it is no longer homeless and thus becomes a house spider. They are the only species whose name changes acording to its current habitat [citation needed].
djdogjuam 8 months ago 56
@djdogjuam This is the best comment so far, but I do see one small fault with this theory. A hobo is essentially a bum, and even if a bum has his own house, he is still a bum. Therefore if we use the Hobo-orean Theorem, we can reasonably conclude that a hobo will still be a hobo, even if he has his own house :)
BeanMeister22 8 months ago 6
@BeanMeister22 but if you live in a house you are no longer homeles therfoe you are not a bum/hobo
lins12341 8 months ago
@BeanMeister22 Agreed. There is a saying that I used to use when I was homeless. And that is "There is more to being homeless than just not having a house." I never understood it really til about a year ago lol

Quite a striking pattern on its back.
RyushuSuperCat 9 months ago
@RyushuSuperCat Yes, it is a very distinct pattern, but even with a pattern like that, it can still be next to impossible, even for experts, to positively tell the difference between a Giant House Spider, and a Hobo Spider. The first is beneficial to have in your house, and the other one is poisonous.
BeanMeister22 8 months ago
@BeanMeister22 Venomous,,, not poisonous....
