@weriwulf Hmmmmm......They are both really nice...Just different. If you are a purist the 245 is good because it is a stop tail piece, it has a bit more meat in the body so it sings tonally a little more.
The Santana has more of a comfort factor and it has a trem. A little faster neck, but it still has great tone too!
@weriwulf It wouldn't be fair to say one is better than the other. Personally being that I love singlecuts the SE245 is the better choice for me. They are a but more warm sounding and have a bit more bass to both pickups than the thinner Santana SE. They both use the same PRS SE245/Santana SE pickups which are amazing pickups. The Santana is a bit more comfortable to me as far as the weight aspect compared to the SE245. Do I own either? No but I do have a 2011 Singlecut and Tremonti SE
@weriwulf It's just preference. Both the Santana SE and SE245 solid gigable guitars straight outta the box though I a guitar modder. My Singlecut SE is the scarlet red one that I added gold hardware, locking tuners, PRS VB and HFS USA pickups, and I replaced the 3 way switch with a 5 way PRS rotary knob, as well as a flame maple style headstock vinyl decal and PRS Style Eagle headstock decal My Tremonti SE has locking tuners the Tremonti Tribal vinyl decals, and PRS Dragon II pickups.
lol the bridge is already too hot. idk why anyone would ever even want to mod it with something hotter..good luck though. i already have to have the tone cut at 3/4 with just the regulation se, not the santana.
hi i am very interested in buying one of these but i would like to be able to play some metal to! Do you think its ok for metal to? (by metal i mean mostly opeth)
Dudes, what a better way to demo a guitar playing throu clean sound!?? I'm so happy that the first thing this demos show is the clean sound of the guitar! If u don't like the demos this guy presents, may I suggest that u don't look at them in the first place...
There are some not-to-well thought out comments on here regarding the man demoing the Santana SE model in a clean jazz style. If your cemented in one guitar style I'm sure that explains the narrominded point of view. There are other videos that demoed this guitar in other styles, go look. I play rock, soul, funk, jazz, and metal...a versatile guitar such as this would appeal to a musician such as myself that can handle a wide palet of styles. Free your mind and your ass will follow.
Tasty. So nice *not* to hear someone chug a 5-chord distorted to stupid levels. I always look to your take on gear. Keep up the great work. You are appreciated, Mark. Let the others say & do what they will, you are unique & fresh. BRAVO!
Hey, i found one of these used today but for some reason it was slightly diff.. i had a stoptail bridge, the humbuckers looked more like the gison les paul style and the neck didnt have the bird inlays... wht would b the reason for this? do they make some like this or would it have to b something the previous owner did on hs own?
nice playing man but i have two questions the first one is this guitar is made in the us or korea the second question might sound stupid but i was looking at the prs usa se mark tremonti and is that made in the us or korea thanks
@aliannab2009 all prs se guitars are made in korea as far as i know, ive done some research and im pretty sure tht one of the major differences in the se models and regular ones is tht se's are made in korea while the others are american made....
i really love these reviews...they are by far some of the better ones on youtube...but, i would highly, HIGHLY enjoy hearing this guy play something other than jazz, even if its not this guys specialty i would still love to hear some older classic rock, maybe even a little hard rock just to get a sense of what the guitar is really capable of, because in my honest opinion....any guitar you buy on the market can do jazz, all the way from a pure "jazz" guitar, to a guitar fitted with EMGs
i really like your playing. and your reviews are good. but it would be very helpful , if you d play a bit of rock... because santana plays kinda rock and it s his guitar...
if you could do that in other videos with guitars like this i d be very thankfull
Sweetest PRS SE package to date, and probably the sweetest-sounding. Built just like an SE Singlecut Trem, but with dual cutaways, shorter scale, and different pickup voicing: There's more midrange, so there's more punch -- but still plenty of chime. If you wanted a Tremonti SE's lovely tone, but with more PRS look and feel (tremolo tail, no plastic binding, bird inlays): this is your guitar. Only un-PRS glitch is that the treble-side cutaway is too shallow! (Watch the video carefully.)
I bought the yellow finish SE at Guitar Center mid February. I gotta say.. for the price of $709, this is a superb value. In fact, after trying all many guitars under $1,000 this was my favorite. I have a vintage collection of Fenders and Gibson from the 40's, 50's, 60's and few new axes such as a gold top Les Paul from 2005 which is a superb guitar. But this Korean PRS SE stands out. It's finish, tremlo, action, and sound are excellent. Go for it and you won't be sorry.

Thank you for a nice demo, a good demo is always appreciatted. I would have to agree w/others its that better to hear the clean sounding guitar first, then maybe some guitar and amp volume tones and tube driven distortion, not pedals. I played this guitar in GC yesterday, I love the neck and features. I have smaller hands, neck profile was great (for me). I ordered one last night, cant wait to use it with my Marshall Class 5. IMHO, Killer axe for the money, go try one if you get a chance.
Great demo. Seems like you guys dig this guitar lots. How does the build quality, playability, pickups/tones, etc. of this new Santana SE compare to the Gibson Les Paul Studio Faded? Both guitars are like close to the same price so which is the better buy? Many thanks for any comments or advice.
@firemiststrat Both are nice guitars. They feel different it would be a personal preference. One is a stop tail one has a trem. One is single cutaway the other is double cutaway. The Gibson Les Paul Studio Faded is $749.99 with gig bag. The PRS SE Santana is $699.00 with gig bag.
@seandog1234 i also agree, i hate reviews when the guitar tone is hidden by effects and distortion. I think this is a much better way to review a guitar
@snix2 the dude just played in his own style. he doesnt have to play hard rock if hes not that into it. he gave us a real demo on how he would use it. if you want to see something different then pick the axe up!
@snix2 Respect - but almost every review I stumble upon demonstrates the heavy and distorted sounds and many have shredding. I cannot express how glad I am to get reviews which don't dwell on it.
Probably because most demos seem to neglect the clean sound of the guitar, and only play with heavy distortion. I personally enjoy hearing a guitar demo with a clean tone because the guitar has less to hide behind.
Got this guitar for my birthday.. amazing freaking guitar i swear i have it in black :D l
