  • He lived to 96, not too shabby. I miss this guy

  • I tried this with the double broiler tonight with Swai... and WOW, I'll never prepare fish any other way. A little thyme, bay leaf and parsley, and I was set. No exaggeration that it only took 2 minutes to thoroughly cook. Thanks jack!!!!

  • this was the 50s? wow he was great id like to watch him today. hes no nonsense not all the hype /music / fancy sets they use on tv now.

  • is he gay?

  • After what's going on in Japan right now with them dumping that radiation into the water and stuff I don't think I'm going to go catch some fresh fish any time soon.

  • Eating canned fish, however, may contain unusually high amounts of mercury. A good way to circumnavigate this slight problem is by switching the kinds of fish you eat. Tuna and the larger fishes; Ie:Sharks, contain the most mercury. It is almost never a problem, but it is never bad to play it safe!

  • ima gonna to try it right now Jack

  • Product placement even back in that day and age

  • we still have scooby1961

    ...

  • If everyone had a dad like this the world would be a better place

  • @JEMacProductions Ok you got your dads genes.. You have many similarities .. You look alike , act alike .. etc.. On the same side your dad drinks: alcohol, high sugar drinks, unhealthy drinks; smokes, takes drugs, doesn`t keep fit. So everyone would say that you do too (do everything as your dad), and 99% of you-alike would blame your dads for it. Let me say you repeat you the sentence you probably use often : It`s my life - I can do whatever i want with it. Now that we got blame of your -

  • @draman7 dad, the same way we are going to get of the blame of you grandfather - great grandfather - etc.. Your responsible for your own life, not your dad. He is there to raise you until you turn mature. Looks like you didn`t. So let me tell you something - adjust your sentence: If every were like Jack, a world would be a better place. True. So start being Jack. Not the same as him. Be better .. or close to him.. but please don`t just stand their doing nothing - cuz if you do that nothing will

  • @draman7 change. World needs change. Sorry if i bored you. Sorry if you didn`t understand something. I tried to explain it as good as i can. GOOD BETTER BEST - NEVER NEVER REST - `TILL YOUR GOOD IS BETTER - AND THE BETTER BEST!

  • @draman7 perhaps you are right (although I'll have you know that I don't drink, smoke, do drugs/party- not anymore at least). We all have a tendency once and a while to associate the negatives in our lives with the good naturedness in other people. Of course, I am not perfect- far from it. I have made many mistakes, more than someone with my conscience would be readily willing to admit... But my point was to assert the CORRELATION between upbringing and life successes.

  • @draman7 Now if you want to get into hairsplitting (what I actually "believe"). Yes, I believe that nothing is my fault... or your fault, or anybody else's "fault." To me, "fault," is merely one of the ramifications brought upon us by an even larger illusion: free will. This is not to say that free will doesn't "exist." But rather that it exists inside each one of us, facilitating the motivation to continue our existence. What is my will is not your will, and what is your will is not my will,

  • @draman7 but the fact that we can look at each others lives and predict what we are going to do before we even THINK about doing it, tells me that free will as we know it does not have any real objective value. And in our post-idealogical society, objective truth is the only truth that has any meaning.

  • This is actually how my Chinese grandmother makes fish. You can even do it with a whole fish because the skin of the fish is delicious and nutritious.

Add ginger, garlic, and soy sauce. No need to add extra oil because the fish and its skin has natural fats. It's so succulent and moist.

  • R.I.P.

  • i wish he was my father

  • And you can use the fishy water to cook brown rice with!

  • Lalanne is the man

  • im gonna go get me some fish and steam it ,i love fish, tuna all kinds

i hope this works good cause if it does im gonna be eating fish all the time now

  • @mikertones Did you try it out? How was it? I'm thinking about doing this too. I always thought you had to cook your fish well done like you do with chicken. Didn't think a minute and a half of steaming would do the trick :-D

  • @wastnTIMEwastnTIME I haven't tried this, but if you can eat Sashimi, then it seems logical you don't have to cook the fish any more than suits you.

  • he speaks passionately...

  • He is the truth about fitness......95 plus still working out

  • @curtisb3000; "96th" B-day 9-24-10, no cake past 80yrs.

  • excellent!

  • wow! such a head of his time

  • "my New Hot point refrigerator!" hahahaha

  • is this stewing?

  • He's 95 and still kicking , guess everyone should follow his advices .

  • Does anyone else feel happy when you hear Jack talk?

  • I certainly feel happy hearing Jack. Every few months I'll go back and watch his food videos on YouTube just because I want some simple happiness.

  • @Fupper16 Yupp! I catch myself smiling. Lovely guy.

  • @ Honken... Yes, you are right! Thank you for reminding me!

  • Nice technique, oil free!! Before I used to cook fish with olive virgin oil and now I don't have too which is great. Its more healthy this way even though virgin oil is not too bad but its still oil...

  • Olive oil is rich in a lot of essential fatty acids, especially the omegas (most prominent being #9). Oil is not bad; it's in fact one of the finest sources of fat there is (olive, that is).

People have this impression that fat is responsible for the decline in healthy when it's really about overconsumption of carbohydrates and a unbalance between fatty acids, i.e. not consuming enough fish or olive oil.

  • I'm craving some fresh fish, and I want Jack to make it for me.

  • i can't believe this video was done in the 1800s

  • LOL, I like my fish on the raw side, I mean rare side...

  • I eat a lot of fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines and mackerel, but generally I buy it tinned simply because it keeps longer. Upon opening the tin, I do NOT proceed to cook the fish any further than the manufacturers may have done so already. Question: am I still getting the health benefits?

  • Jack Lalanne has stated he prefers fresh as possible and has talked about the healthy & strong natives of Fiji he met who eat their fresh caught fish every day. He occasionally eats canned tuna, sardines etc but not everyone can afford super fresh, wild caught fish. You are still getting health benefits with canned or flash frozen fish, but eating straight out of the sea would of course be optimal.

  • @cottonwhiskersuk yes you are.

  • @cottonwhiskersuk You won't be getting the flavor most importantly. Maybe less nutrients, but be very ware of sodium when things are canned. Otherwise, fresh fish can be a luxury for many people. You're fine if you eat it canned, you're a million times better off than people eating hamburgers and hot dogs.

  • @cottonwhiskersuk

Canned fish is great and you still get many health benefits. But of course it cannot compete with fresh fish. However, fresh fish is a bit more expensive. So for anyone on a low budget: Why not having two or three canned fish during the week and then one fresh fish on the weekend? Fresh fish once a week should be worth spending a few extra bucks.

  • AWESOME!! I'm going to try eating fish 3x a week.

  • I know this, that once I was blind but now I can see. That is my proof. I pray God reveals Himself to you and wish you well too.

  • Real soy sauce is a fermented food. It's made from real sea salt, not the dangerous, highly refined stuff most Americans eat. Look for soy sauce that says "naturally brewed" and isn't full of additives, like "caramel coloring."

  • isn't Soy Sauce full of sodium?

  • I love the Hotpointe plug.

  • I am dying for fresh fish now. lots of lemon juice. Amazing.

  • Great Vid.

  • is that the same jumpsuit he still wears??????

  • Lol Vigorously!!

  • Thanks Jack. I will do that.

  • I cooked fish for the first time today, i was amazed how easy it was. Did 1st bit of salmon in flour and fried it, then chopped up 2nd bit of salmon and stir fried with chopped mushrooms, onion and peppers. With boiled rice on the side.

I'll be having fish once a week from now on, top meal.

  • TIP:place a plate under the fish to collect all the juices.thats the best part.serve with plain rice

  • Ponderous man, Fricking Ponderous!! LaLanne rules...ahead of his time!

  • VIGOROUSLY!!

  • were can i buy his outfit!?

  • I had no idea that you could steam salmon for just 90 seconds! I've always fried it to death!

  • Again, very impressive, way ahead of his time. Even before science knew what Omega 3 was, Lalanne understood the importance of fish, and that frying it ruined the EFA's. He even used soy sauce... at least 20 years before it became fashionable to cook Asian food.

  • @RaptormanMT Omega 3 is also in walnuts

  • So you hear that ladys..... put the fish on your rack

  • funny

  • i have been eating fish like this for about a week now

..its good...my good...also because i love sushi...and its more healthy than greasy fish

  • Im gonna go fix some fish now.

  • man, we need someone no nonsense like him !!! a real good example & a real role model for our youth ...

  • i love you jack and your great but i don't like raw fish.

And i don't want to catch salmonella again.

  • salmonella is tough to get from fish. you must be very unlucky.

also, ever hear of sushi? raw fish, my friend.

  • fish the king of all foods ..from a man that everyone loves

  • the guy at the end of this video looks like the guy who played beetle juice.

  • I wish i were as fit as he is.. Im 14 but still.... I dont have the inspiration :(

  • actually it's call incentive

  • This man IS way ahead of his time. Jack LaLanne is amazing. Also, people might be interested in reading Norman W. Walker's books on Juicing from the 1930's-1980's. He lived to be 99 years old. Juicing is great, and eating mostly fresh fruit, veggies, sprouts, grasses, fish, etc. is sooo healthy!

  • Wow! A new hotpoint?! Gotta get me one of them!

  • the man was way way ahead of his time.

  • As Jack said, "If man made it, don't eat it!"

  • Jack is 1 in 6 billion

  • So ahead of his time!

  • Now I understand why my mother thought Jack was sooooo handsome!!
