Actually, it's not such a bad idea.
I don't remember the exact figures (look in John Lott's FREEDOMNOMICS for them), but apparently government spending as a percentage of GDP in the United States in the nineteenth century and up to 1920 was fairly flat, at approximately three percent, but after 1920 (when women were granted suffrage), government spending as a percentage of GDP skyrocketed, and the massive upward trend continues today.

I think you're right. After carefully reviewing the GAO's report on the GDP I found that most of the deficit was classifed under items such as "Shiny pretty things in the window" and "a great pair of shoes". Still, I like having the ladies around and voting!
