I was lvl 10 before I came out of the cave at the start the npc u follow that cut u loose can be lvld off off stand bk far enough were he doesn't run away and blast him with your flame skill works with Melee also right before the bear fight inside the cave he stands still just walk up and wack away rinse and repeat he never dies runs low on Hp then regens easy way to lvl before u even get to riverwood

Tried this at a higher level and even though I only attacked with Destruction magic and never attacked with a weapon, he eventually let me in the guild anyway. Apparently there is a time limit or a maximum of damage you do where you'll eventually be let into the guild anyway even if you don't fight with a melee weapon. Unfortunately it looks like you can't do this forever until Destruction is maxed.

another way is shadowmere and flames/frostbite/sparks. its resistance is so high u will run out of magicka before u kill it....and then it regens XD. u can also do this with one/two handed, sneak, and the other spell types.
