Hey I agree with you on the weakness of the coil springs...But the Ram does ride better than any other truck...It came along at just the right time for the development of my patented product...Check out my profile for the video
@amermuscle Sorry the truth hurts man, it's OK, before you know it Chrysler, Dodge, your precious Mopar (now just a marketing gimmick) fraud company will be completely FIAT (pretty much already is) and you won't have to see any more of my stupid fucking videos. FYI FIAT is NOT an American Company Mr. American Muscle., Daimler was German as well, also not very American but hey some people don't know any better so that's cool.
@amermuscle It's funny, people who have been victimized by this company don't think so like the Woman who's Mother's Chrysler minivan self shifted into reverse on its own knocking her Mother over, crushing her skull and killing her. I don't think the hundreds of thousand who've been victimized while Chrysler gets away with it would agree but hey you know everything right. Most people who contact me or comment hate this company too and rightfully so.
A lot of Mopars used to be built with torsion bars in the front and leaf springs in the back until it was abandonded as "old technology." I think it's ironic that most new pickups these days use exactly that setup. I don't know what Dodge was thinking with the rear coils on their new 1/2 ton trucks. That's why I'm sticking to my 3/4 ton.
sucksguy...it's obvious you work for ford, what exactly is your background in auto repair or design? Most people today buy a half ton four door to do light duty work and transport the freinds and family. If they want to hall max payload they purchase 3/4 or1 ton's albeit at the sacrafice of some comfort in ride quality. You keep hating dodges there buddy, but until you voice facts instead of empty opinion, nobody will listen.
@jeeper3b Work for Ford? Are you kidding? I was a former owner of several new and newer Chrysler vehicles, all had ridiculous premature issues and Chrysler wouldn't stand behind them and refuses to honor valid warranty claims.
Seriously, I guess you haven't looked at the rest of the channel or the other videos, there's only a couple videos like this that are Ford comparisons.
You want facts, check out other videos and visit the website link on this channel, ALL FACTS, NOT opinion.
@jeeper3b In fact, you seem to have a problem with facts, because YOU are the one showin OPINION here in front of the FACTS presented.
For a serious work capable truck for towing, payload and work, coil springs and car suspension at the rear IS NOT the way to go, it's fact.
What, leaf springs can't carry friends and family in comfort? Have you been in a Ford, ride quality is nearly the same. You're buying a truck, NOT a Cadillac.
Ford went through bankruptcy a few years back too people, it wasn't publicized as well. And Dodge can put variable spring rates (multiple coils) on the rear like many racing shocks have on ATVs, it's not a huge deal. Leaf springs equal wheel hop imo, but for towing out of the box yeah, leaf springs are the cheap and best route to go.
Ford hasn't filed for bankruptcy nor did it ever take government money.
Dodge doesn't use "special" springs on its trucks, not even special heavy duty springs, they're basically just "car" springs, more than likely shared with another vehicle to further cut costs.
The problem with Dodge is selling a "truck" as "RAM tough" when they use cheaper, smaller, less heavy duty car grade front end components, now they're using car suspension in the rear, NOT at all the best for a "tough" truck.
Chrysler died after the 70's. I've never been a Chrysler fan.. gimme my Ford and I'll go on down the road with a smile.
But, I'm really starting to hate Chrysler now. They are pathetic. They took our tax money (as did GM), while Ford passed on it. Chrysler is the laughing stock of ALL automobile manufacturers. China could build a better vehicle, and we all know China sucks with metal.
If Chrysler "actually" recalled the many serious widespread safety defects they refuse to accept responsibility for I wouldn't even be here.
The difference? Toyota issues recalls for widspread serious safety defects and takes major action. Chrysler? Refuse to recall while people CONTINUE TO DIE.
Now do you know why I hate the company so much? Not only was "I" screwed by this POS company, they continue to kill people left and right! But no, it's fine if Chrysler does it, just not Toyota.
I said "I was wondering", and why? Because FIAT said that was a possibility that they were thinking of and could have meant completely or make them all "Dodge badged" FIATS, meaning no more "real" Dodge.
Chrysler got what they deserved? NO, WRONG. Chrysler GOT OUT OF having to accept defect liability while people continue to be injured and die because while Chrysler has MORE SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECTS IT REFUSES TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THAN GM, FORD AND TOYOTA COMBINED.
Isnt Ford the company whos cruise control configurations would catch fire and burn your home down or their SUV vehicles would roll over and eject their occupants onto the road,or the police cruisers that would explode when hit from the rear.
@rpur441044 The CC fires were "rare", yet Ford issued a recall TAKING RESPONSIBILITY for the issue (something Chrysler should LEARN).
"Some" Crown Vics were bursting into flames when HIT AT SPEEDS 70MPH and over from the rear.
I got news for you, a test was performed on a Dodge Intrepid Chrysler was offering up for a police crusier AND IT EXPLODED too when hit from behind a high speeds!
The issue is that police cruiser expectations are high. Ford now even uses Kevlar reinforcement!
@rpur441044 the SUV's rolling over was mainly from faulty Firestone tires. Firestone blamed Ford however other tires at Ford's recommended pressure didn't have this issue and weren't blowing out. Again, FORD ended up issuing a recall even though this was a Firestone issue AND TOOK RESPONSIBILITY, again something Chrysler needs to learn.
As for being ejected, that is a CHRYSLER ISSUE WITH GEN3 SEATBELTS IN OVER 14 MILLION CHRYSLER VEHICLES CHRYSLER REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR!
Ford went for better fuel economy and with their 6 speed Tranny compared to the 4 and 5 speed autos that Dodge only offers for 2011 were able to pretty much make up for having less power.
yeah, it's no longer under the Dodge Brand, it's the "RAM Brand", I think it's stupid as hell. Sounds like another gimmick, dumb corporate executive decision or something.
It's like Ford saying well, our trucks are no longer "Ford", they're the F-Series Brand or GM saying our trucks are now a seperate brand the "Silverado Brand and Sierra Brand". I mean come on Chrysler!
I'm wondering if FIAT is setting things up to phase out Dodge altogether and is why they seperated the truck brand?
It gets better, they try and claim that coil springs are better for a truck (cars had them for years, Jeep Wranglers have them, Trains have them LMFO!).
If people were looking for a car they'd buy a car, Trucks are supposed to be on an entirely different level of durability and be able to do heavy duty work.
People don't buy a truck to rock climb like a small Jeep Wrangler.
Trains use "many" (short and extremely thick) coil springs near each wheel!
Yeah I agree with fixinggrace.... I love the new body style of the rams, but shit. If it cant be used for what a truck is for.... it aint a truck.... oh not to mention, dodge is going to do shitty in a couple of years, they're discontinuing the dakota. which i think still uses leaf springs.
GM used coil springs on their 1967 to 1972 trucks for some unknown reason and promptly returned to them in 1973. The could have worked, but light trucks are 1 1/2 times larger and heavier than they were 40 years ago and expected to carry more. Of course frames were wider in relation to the truck in the 1960's than they are now.
Yeah I'm really thinking Chrysler did this to cut costs and corners, they are probably either shared with another Chrysler vehicle platform or their vendor gave them a better deal with coil springs. Then they played the whole thing up and turned it into a marketing gimmick.
It's really too bad b/c I like the looks of the truck. Chrysler will go to great lengths to save money on a part (all manufacturers do, but Chrysler takes this to extreme). My now disabled car is a dodge and I've had several brake light switches fail and burn out the battery b/c of the poor design. In contrast, the switch on my Windstar failed in the "off" position and was much better built, saving me the cost of a new battery when it went. A lot easier to install too.
Epic Dodge fail. These trucks may look nice, but if you can't carry anything in them b/c of safety concerns, it might as well be a big, gas-guzzling car. Ford has made the best-selling trucks for a reason, because they work.
@fixinggrace that is an epic dodge fail, that new HEMI is a gimmick!!!its only 5.7 liters,i even saw one 3.3 AWD hemi!!Dodge does not take care of their saftey, and will most likely go out of buissness.Toyota Took care of their acceleration problem in the tacoma, but dodge blames it on the owner every time!!!!!This is a reason why Chevy and Ford are doing way better than them, and even Chevy managed to get out of bankrupcty and Chrysler is still in it!! Chrysler sucks and i will never own one!
@Jmster1 Yeah Dodge has turned the HEMI into nothing more than a gimmick too. Even Mopar Enthusiasts that really know their shit know the new engine Chrysler calls a "HEMI" is not even a real HEMI as it is not even fully hemispherical. They simply brought back the name for marketing! I agree Chrysler doesn't give a shit about customers, people have been learning this and will never bounce back because of it!
