While I was on my way to Best Buy to get the G74sx for Christmas a car pulled up as I was walking into Best Buy I noticed the driver pulled back a bow and there I was in the Best Buy parking lot knowing I took an arrow to the knee. lol
well honestly i like how the alienware laptops look compared to this, but im guessing this performs better and is cheaper XD considering alienware is some overpriced shit, still, not really sure, cant decide :/ help anybody? XD
@Link123941 This is better. Alienware is just name and lights. If that's your thing, overpriced, weaker, stuff like that, then get Alienware. The G73 is better, and I love mine. I don't know about you though.

@hazza3 You can get this for about $1150 at BestBuy if they still sell them. But there's the G74 now, which has more hard drive space, and a better graphics' card. But it's missing the three upper-right buttons, and doesn't look as nice as the G73, plus the fans are fused into one big one in the middle now. That goes for about 1200-1300 I believe. Hope this helped. And the specs for this are the same as the Alienware M17x. Better even I think.

@hazza3 Well the ones that expensive likely have more than 8 GB of RAM, a Blu-Ray player, more than 2.9 GHZ (in which 2.9 is the number of GHZ for normal ones) and most likely 1 TB to 1.5 TB of hard drive space. I got the cheapest and weakest ones of the G73. But just because it's the cheapest of them all, doesn't mean my G73 is weak. It runs Crysis 2, Fallout: New Vegas, GTA IV, and other high graphic games on Ultra, with graphic mods!

@ttarkus Asus G74Sx is one of the most powerfull computers right now. if you would run Chrysis and GTAIV then i can tell you the G74Sx has NO problems running it at 60 FPS. :-)
but i havent tryed the G73 but the G74Sx is very powerfull and is for the ultimate gamers!

And believe me, you can get extremely cool cases if you know where to look. Finally, i wouldnt let someone else than myself to build my PC.
I have had my Asus G73Jh-A1 for almost a year now, not so impressed with it. graphics temp is around 82°C with moderate load, probably the reason the new G74 series puts the heatsinks together for more area of heat dissipation. Also the touchpad becomes unresponsive at times, no worries there due to the Asus GX800 mouse that was provided. Keyboard skips a few characters if typing too quickly. Not a terrible computer overall, but has qualities left to be desired.

@paniclego97 the jh is the one that overheats super easy, because of the poor combination of no sandy bridge and ati card, also the cooling system isnt as good as newer g73's

For anyone planning on buying this computer I've had it for 6 months and all it does is have issues. So if your planning on buy a G73 you better have a local computer repair or Best Buy cause your gonna get to know the people there real well. I mean the mouse pad is awful.. I mean AWFUL it goes right when you go left and left when you go right and oh by the way don't think about gaming with the mouse pad because you'll kill yourself. On the plus side key boards great and so are graphics.

I would not suggest, ASUS have lots of problems. I own G73J and experience 3 annoying problems 1. Touchpad is not working properly, mouse pointer jumps around when drag and re-establish contact with touchpad 2. keyboard squeaks once unit is warmed up 3. most critical, it starts beep randomly which usually ends with entire system crash, when reboot it says boot disk cannot be located.
Have sent unit already to the RMA for second time, last update - again - they cannot reproduce problems.

Nothing kind of overheating.... BUt it produces more heat than any other laptop. bcoz of it massive processor and graphic support and massive 6 GB RAM.

@paniclego97 the jh is the one that overheats super easy, because of the poor combination of no sandy bridge and ati card, also the cooling system isnt as good as newer g73's

@paniclego97 JH model sometimes has faulty thermal pasting, you may need to do a redo on it. My sw runs extremely cool.

it's about 13 bucks, then just google how to apply thermal paste, and i'm sure you could find an article how to do it exactly to the g73 series.

For anyone planning on buying this computer I've had it for 6 months and all it does is have issues. So if your planning on buy a G73 you better have a local computer repair or Best Buy cause your gonna get to know the people there real well. I mean the mouse pad is awful.. I mean AWFUL it goes right when you go left and left when you go right and oh by the way don't think about gaming with the mouse pad because you'll kill yourself. On the plus side key boards great and so are graphics.

@thehostler0 i know that but i got one of the pretty much best models out there :( 8 gigs of ram, i7 Q740 (not 2nd gen but i guess that does not really affect its power at all), ati hd 5870 so yeah i think except for the processor there should not be too much that could be better than my version from stock :(

I would not suggest, ASUS have lots of problems. I own G73J and experience 3 annoying problems 1. Touchpad is not working properly, mouse pointer jumps around when drag and re-establish contact with touchpad 2. keyboard squeaks once unit is warmed up 3. most critical, it starts beep randomly which usually ends with entire system crash, when reboot it says boot disk cannot be located.
Have sent unit already to the RMA for second time, last update - again - they cannot reproduce problems.
