  • If there was such a big monetary issue, so many concerns about a so-called limited market relative to the investment needed for the park, or even the potential unwanted effects on neighboring homeowners, why wasn't anything brought up back in the 80s, when the range's planning started then?

It's pretty clear that people are grasping for straws here. I tip my hat to Mr. Collins and the state of Nevada for standing behind, supporting, and encouraging 2A rights.

  • We need more elected officials just like this. No BS, just calls it the way it is, Like his position or not, he tells it the it is and the way he feels, instead of telling you what you want to hear.

  • @d90king Seriously? Are you a taxpayer in Clark County? if so, you are paying $1.5 mil a year to cover the losses from this Shooting Range. Used to be called a "park".

  • How do I vote for him in my county? :D

  • @MrGunman11 Looks like Tom Collins is trying to "smooth" over his outrageous comment before election time by having these three "attaboy" postings today.

  • @lvmom05 HA HA, right.

  • I like him! We need more people like that.

  • "Pack your shit and go home" LOL!!!!!

  • As to the uploader's comments about the park losing money...well I can think of plenty of other govt funded programs here in nevada that are losing money just the same. At least this is providing loads of fun and enjoyment for vegas residents that want to go and learn how to shoot in a controlled, safe environment.

Also, I don't buy that the residents never had a clue what was going on. This land was donated by the BLM nearly 3 decades ago and the park was already in the works for several years

  • I never used any firearms except a 22 rifle when my husband and I went out in the wilderness in OK. When he passed away, he had a gun that was a bit much for me. I got myself a Bersa Thunder 380, took instruction classes, go to practice, keep in a safe with push button, I can grab it in an instant. My dogs would give me some warning. I have never been to this range but do plan to go and practice more. If the day ever comes I need to use it, I need to be comfortable with it as much as possible

  • @liljoycie1 Lol I have a Bersa 380 myself. This is an excellent range and the price to get in is really cheap. I also don't feel confined as I do in the expensive indoor shooting ranges and I take my 2 boys with me every time we go.

  • Thats right pack your shit and go home. Stupid cry babies who dont even know what they are talking about trying to get involved in something they dont even understand.. Home owners.. well I don't want to see you stupid crap you put in your yard but I cant say move it.

  • Actually I am going to have a great day as your reply to me was funny. I can tell you were born and raised here as you mentally struggle to organize your thoughts and try to spell. You are obviously happy with yourself as you enjoy your section 8 housing or have reached your life's ambition making fries at Burger King. For someone of your low IQ, you are an over-achiever!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!

  • State Parks and ball parks are for "public use" and cater to a very large population. The Shooting Park caters to a very small market, and has lost approx. $1.5 million in 2011. The question is should SNPLMA money been used for this narrow market park to the tune of $64 million dollars?

  • How much money did the state and city parks and ball parks make this last year or two??

  • hell yeah i go to that range every week i love shooting and its a beautiful range. I would rather go to that range anyday be4 i go out to the desert and have a bunch of dumb people show up shooting next to me not practicing good gun safety.

  • The homeowners DID NOT know there was a shooting park at this location. So no, the builder did not disclose this information to the homeowners. The shooting park is losing $1.5 million per year. How do you as a taxpayer feel about that?

  • @lvmom05

How much the county spends to other parks w/c doesnt recoup any money? Atleast the park is getting some of it money

  • @lvmom05

  • @lvmom05 I feel great. I Just shot the shit out of my assalt rifles out at the Clark County range. I hope your house hears shots all day long from the range. JUST GO HOME you CALIFORNIAN!!! LOL.. Take your lil BMW and Scoot outta this town if you dont like it.!!! We dont like you, LEAVE MY TOWN YOU,city kitty. Just like this man says, "Pack up and go the Fu--IX HOME!! How you feel about that? LOL. Thanks for your tax money SO I can play with your tax funds! GO HOME. pack it up and leave!

  • @lvmom05 get over it we dont need your shitty golf courses we have to help water

  • I believe what anti-gun people fail to realize is that a well thought out and safety oriented facility like CCSP is a much better alternative than making people drive out to BLM land and do whatever they want. As far as the surrounding development is concerned, do you believe home builders didn't know a gun range was going to be built there seven years ago? Ddin't they make that information availible. It's like buying a house next to an airport and then complaining about airplanes taking off.

  • I'd rather see my taxpayer money go to a great shooting park than to a bunch of leeches on welfare!

  • Now after all is said and done, this stupid idea which created a lot of turmoil with local residents is losing money and the designer of the project is resigning as manager.

But I bet the Cowboy got HIS money.

This is why voters need to get rid of all of the crooks at election time.

  • @cblondefox HUH? its a shooting park. Not a frigging court room genious. you sir are a certified MORON! Thankyou for your time. Hope you have a good day after reading this!! LOL Ha Ha AH aHhHA

  • I've got a new hero! Hahaahahah!

  • this dud is hard

  • He's right...so many limp-wristed Mid-westerners moved out west and brought their Chi town values with them....go back if you don't like western states.

  • Mr Tom collins We're wasting a million dollars a year on the Clark County Shooting Park when we have people being laid off public schools are cutting back I am totally amazed that Mr Tom collins would rather keep a shooting park open so that middle aged men in their John Deere caps had a place to go and shoot their big guns to compensate for their shortcomings This has nothing to do with the fact that it is a shooting park it is about the money Where exactly are we going to get the money from

  • AMEN Tom, i can't wait until the deadly firearms ban to be trashed in north las vegas where i live. then u can bet you bottom dollar i will take FULL advantage of my 2nd amendment right and Nevada STATE law to open carry. i have personally been to this range a dozen times, its MILES away from any houses, all firearms are discharged towards the mountains. if you people want to bitch and moan about guns and shooting parks, move to california.

  • I live in Reno. Where's ours?

  • Just another in the long line of Clark County politicians who don't accomplish anything of major significance unless it is self-serving, in one way or another. It is time for a change. The residents of Clark County don't need another Dario Herrera, Erin Kenny, or Mary Kincaid-Chaunchy.

  • You're right! And he just tried to pull a fast one and take a job as a lobbyist at the special session...direct ethics violation. He can be beat in 2012!

  • @lvmom05

Thank you!!!! The people in Clark County need to jump on the bandwagon and get rid of these politicians. We have a long history of political corruption and enough is enough. All of the politicians should be investigated and those who are dirty(like in my last comment) jailed and forced to pay massive fines for everything they have taken.

  • haha! He is hilarious. Go cowboy! =D

  • Loving what he said. Tell it how it is cowboy!! ( :

  • Thanks Tom !

  • We need more nonPC people like him in office!!!

    Thanks for posting

  • Amen! I like his response.

  • 100% WIn!

  • Great guy! Win on all levels.

  • Maybe it's time politicians stop using kid gloves to handle situations. I'd much rather have a guy like this in office that tells it how it is than a PC puppet.

  • Wish we had more of these guys in office. Bravo!

  • Awesome! This guy needs to run for Congressional office. 1/2 mile? Boo freakin hoo!

  • I LOVE my state!

  • Outstanding interview

  • This thing has been in various stages for decades. The problem with things like this is that homeowners don't read the disclosures before signing the paperwork. I read my disclosures and have backed out of buying a house because of it.

  • Pure greatness! The people that moved into that area should have done their due diligence. This park was in the works for years. Then they buy a house and feel entitled to have the county change its plans to accommodate them and change the plans that were in work before their housing communities were even built. An example would be I move to Vegas but do not want the airliners flying over head and demand they reroute airways for my wishes. "Pack your shit and leave!" You have my vote!

  • I went here today it was Awesome!

  • ramonefan22 you are a perfect example of why this park is doomed. Did you enjoy yourself out there for $7 bucks? I suppose the price reflects the expected customer base. From what I saw you were almost by yourself. Enjoy it while you can because Phase 2 and 3 are pipe dreams!

  • Actually I did, my family doesn't have much so $7 plus a few boxes of ammo was a great way for me to spend time with my dad.

  • Lvmom05 would rather spend $7 on a latte and biscotti

  • pipe dreams? nah, the land was owned and donated by the BLM. It was donated over 25 years ago before ANY houses or developments were there. And since the land itself was donated by the government without any taxpayer money whatsoever, you have no say in the matter.

  • whats wrong with only spending $7 bucks?

  • @lvmom05 Pahase 2 and 3 completed... Next phase coming soon!! We appreciate the Tax Dollars you city Slicker. By the way, you still havent packed up and left our beloved desert? Why are you still here? We dont want you here. Pack up the prius and the BMW and hit the road JACKoff!!! LOL...

  • I had so much fun at the shooting park! Its a great facility, we brought our Turkish Mauser and our 357 just to make more noise for the neighbors.

  • Way to go cowboy! Send the yuppie scum packing! Time to let them see the boundaries. Let the whinnie asses die or get the hell out of the West. Newcomers bring the crap they are fleeing from with them. Urban rejects git! Youre not wanted you spoiled overindulged pieces of crap.

  • " I suppose the price reflects the expected customer base" sounds like you judge people based on the money in thier pocket? shallow
