Can't speak for what Al Gore Eats. I'm not a pure veggie, but moving in that direction. There are arguments that eating locally grown foods, even meat, if it's local free range, are with the body of solutions. There are many experiments going on in agriculture that may change this equation substantially.

Of course temps will rise under these conditions but that's not due to C02. Unfortunately, the raw data has been conveniently 'lost'

Rare earths like indium will be used up long before enough panels can be made. I think photovoltic needs to develop cleaner panels before we commit to it. LOL! I knew this would become a popular piece. I remember when I was in college back in the late '70s this topic was popular, since we were in a minimum and we had exceptionally cold weather. An interesting counterpoint to the Maunder Minimum came from Reid Bryson at UW Madison. His contention was that the increase of sulfate aerosols during the time had a much more profound effect on cooling than lack of sunspots. Great work, as always!!!

@greenman3610 I could argue about the 'science' all day, starting with the unscientific way the temperatures have been collected -- e.g for much of the last century, almost all measuring stations were on land, most stations got swallowed up by urban encroachment & some were moved from coastal areas further inland -- one is now next to an airport.
Of course temps will rise under these conditions but that's not due to C02. Unfortunately, the raw data has been conveniently 'lost'

Well I'm glad the guy from UAH (which I attended) changed his mind. I would have had spread his name all over the place. 50 yrs ago not many people had air conditioners; now we scrambling to gather them for the elderly/disabled. 105-115 heat index, we are cooking. The first time I went to NOLA my 1st breath was stifling. Now it just like that N. Alabama. Hurricane Ivan made it to my doorstep, & it wasn't pretty. We are sitting here waiting for the next Katrina. Tornadoes are everywhere.

Gee it seams like when we were having record snowfall & cold just this last winter, it was called "weather", now that its hot it Warming. These so called Record Highs are only recent history highs.
Non of this matters because NOTHING you do or say will ever stop Russia, China & India from using Fossil Fuel. The US can shut down tomorrow & it will not make any difference at all. So just ride it out & when we peak & the temps begin to drop the explanations will abound.

You only need to look at countries like China is manufacturing those products for the world, thats why they have it. Renewables cant even come close to supplying world wide energy needs. The only real alternative is Nuclear.
It would require 3.5 Million GE 1.5mw wind turbines just to replace our present electric grid. Thats without backup power

Its peak generating capacity. One has to use KWH or power over time as a true measure. Typically wind power generates about 30% of peak, best case senerio.
Wind turbines require up to 2 years running to pay back installation energy.

@dwolfcoach True but nuclear energy takes into account teardown & desposal where Wind does not. Nuclear CAN supply enough power to substitute for oil where wind & solar cant. They are a pipe dream, this is my point. The Throium Reactor is the prefered Nuclear reaction. It produceds no bomb grade material & is very safe. Fusion of course is the ultimate but is nowhere in sight.
China, India & Russia will continue FF usage no matter what we do so we will see if Warming is man made

Especially when coupled with hydrogen/solar combinations and lithium storage methods. These things are more promising every day. And we can create jobs through these technological avenues. @dwolfcoach Problem is in the manufacture of photovoltic massive amounts of toxins like silicon tetrachloride. Thats why they are mostly made in China.
Rare earths like indium will be used up long before enough panels can be made. I think photovoltic needs to develop cleaner panels before we commit to it. Meanwhile solar can generate power using helostate type technology. The simplest thing is to require new homes in moderate climate to have a solar preheat tank for hot water.

with the incoming la nina we can expect temperatures to ease over the coming year, and it would be surprising if 2011 is as warm as 2010.
that's the way this works. Not a linear process, but in waves.
By the time the next el nino comes around, we will probably be in a warmer solar cycle as well.

I think most people have enough basic common sense to know those are not important events relative to anthropogenic climate change.
