  • Marry me, Joanna?

  • That rif at 4:50 is so cool.I just love her.

  • She is gorgeous, simply adorable, and multi talented! It's hard to find a girlfriend like her. I'd love to listen to her sing with my head in her lap taking a nice long nap. A man can dream can't he?

  • 4:50

  • @ladyofthemystnin they don't sound at all alike, and joanna's lyrics highly differ from kate's. still, both amazing artists.

  • @ladyofthemystnin lol wut

  • @ladyofthemystnin yes, Bush and also, even though it does not need pointing out, Bing Crosby.

  • I have the whole 24th July 2011 concert uploaded to my youtube :D

  • I saw Joanna Newsom front row at the Melbourne Recital Centre, definitely the best concert i have ever been to! Ahhh she and her band were so amazing I have never heard anything like it.

  • Hi Clem!

  • I love this song, but the best bit only kicks in at 3:10. :(

Oh well, I still love Joanna Newsom, and her voice and her harp-playing (it must take so much concentration to play harp and sing at the same time).

  • 2:25- 2:47 makes me want to just move.

  • I Glare and Nod,

    Like the Character, 'God'

    Bearing Down

    Upon the Houses and Lawns.

  • JUST FIGURED OUT PART OF THIS SONG.

its a reference to the brothers grim version of the three little pigs.

in it the wolf can desguise himself as anything, except his voice will allways be low and scratchy and his paws will be big and hairy.

so in order to catch the pigs he eats chalk so that his voice will be soft.

i dunno, i felt pround after realizing that.

  • @justforthesparks you should be proud! pretty awesome

  • JUST TOO GOOD.

  • "Those that go searching for love, only manifest their own loveless-ness.

And the loveless never find love, only the loving find love. And they

never have to seek for it." -D. H. Lawrence

  • In the last week, of the last year I was aware

Took a blind shot across the creek at the Black Bear

When he roused me in the night and left me cowering with my light calling out

Whoooooooooo....is there? Who's there? Who is there?

    FAVORITE LYRICS EVER!

  • WOW!!!!!!!

  • This was the first Joanna Newsom song I heard, and it's still one of my favourites.

  • She has really been working on her vibrato. Did I hear something about her getting some sort of throat surgery recently?

  • 2:50-3:14 pure genius. I love that piano solo.

  • I get chills every time I hear this... one of the best songs ever ^.^

  • ich liebe es und lerne den Text auswendig~~~ soft as chalk .....lawlessness

  • i keep coming back to this song... the melody is brilliant :D :D

and of course the lyrics are genius in true newsom style

  • This is the first song of her I've ever heard, thanks to Jimmy Fallon, and it is a masterpeice!!!!! I see Hillary Clinton likes her, too!?! I think the Fallon live version is better than this studio version. I do so hope that she has other songs as great... ANYONE RECOMEND ANY??

  • @livelyarts49 Go long, cosmia, baby birch and um..... every song she writes??

  • @livelyarts49 my favories are this, On a Good Day, Easy, and Monkey and Bear.

  • @livelyarts49 Swansea, '81 and The Sprout and the Bean (Featured in the movie The Strangers)

  • i luv her. even though THE OCTOPUS WILL EAT THE FAGGOT

  • God, she's amazing...

  • What an incredibly talented woman

  • this chord progression sounds soo much like another song, anyone know what is it?? its a fantastic tune nonetheless!

  • @AviatorAndyK The chord progression kinda sounds similar to Inflammatory Writ.

  • @illumiere I hear 'Peach, plum, pear'

  • @AviatorAndyK 'peach, plum, pear'

  • only 22,000......ridiculous this is fabulous music which ever way you put it I particularly like this one nod nod lawlessness

  • @parisianna87 - I know, it's a joke isn't it. I think if it's not using the mainstream formula it needs to be in a video game or movie or something for it to gain attention. It's the unfortunate state of events we're in at the moment when a superb album (and artist) like this is overshadowed by a 15 year old boy and a fame seeking monster (with an aptly titled album).

  • amazing the quality of the recording and the song is just brand new well done joanna xx

  • This should of been the song that played before the epilogue of Red Dead Redemption, when Marston rides to his family. That would of been awesome. I went to her concert in New Zealand, when she was promoting her album and think she has an love affair with New Zealand. Something to do with the weather n' atmosphere... This is the best sample ever!!!

  • The first time i heard this song i just about died at 2:25 .... actually i was thinking about something else and then joanna kicked me in the kneecaps and i melted while she ferociously danced on my puddle of a grave and used the billowing percussion to imprint the phrase "never doze off during one of my songs again" into my skull.

  • Listening to this music is probably like listening to Homer's Sirenes, I guess... just a bit better... I really love it!

  • Ya, Jimmy Fallon finally did something RIGHT!

    SHE IS A NATIONAL TREASURE!!

I am so happy I saw her that night on tv!

This song is quirkily perfectly engagingly achingly beautifully orgasmically so RIGHT!

  • God, I love the way she sings that sweet poetry. She must write it as poetry first and then just put it to the harp and/or piano.

  • what a gem, I read the words and try to understand how she crafted them intertwined seamlessly into the music... im speechless it is fantastic

  • i could fall in love with her just from listening to her music

  • I've listened to this song at least 20 times in the past 2 days. I think I'm in love... Oh my god that rhythm of her singing...

  • Lawlessness!

  • @HillaryClinton same font as a record? yeh

  • @HillaryClinton Lau less nyess

  • @HillaryClinton HIL-DOG likes Joanna Newsom!?

  • 3:43 to 4:11 = orgasm

  • @arthurspooner60 2nd orgasm= 4:46

  • I love the production in this song. The progression of this song is really creative too.

  • my favorite off of her amazing album. :]

  • Her voice and lyrics are one of a kind!

  • wowowowwow

  • whoa,unique voice much?

  • What does one say about such a unique talent as this. Words seem insufficient. I can't think of any to describe my appreciation of the "experience" I had while watching her perform briefly on Jimmy Fallon the other day. I was totally drawn in is all I can say at this point.

  • Man. Love it. I hope this girl writes music forever.

  • I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS SONG. it's so darned refreshing to hear songs like this or "good intentions paving company", where there's hope and cheer against the backdrop of heartache, as opposed to songs like "kingfisher" or "go long" that just make you wanna die.

  • This song reminds me of Carol King

  • (gasp!!) her voice did change. glad she recovered from those vocal cord nodules, she stiill sounds beautiful.

  • FAVORITE so far, ahhhhhh

  • When I first heard this song, I hated it, but she really grows on ya! Love it.

  • i agree, i was the same way,

  • God, I love love love this artist!! and this song!!

    Jt, San Diego

  • GREAT SONG! LOVED IT!

  • amazing song..

  • Love this song! Thanks 4 they upload ;)
