I used to make the same mistake before, you're flailing your back arm, that's very bad (half the energy that should go to your hips is dissipated by that flailing arm)...
Get a messenger bag and ride with it. At some point you'll have to hold it with the back arm and you'll notice how efficient you'll get (crossing your back arm over your chest and grabbing your shirt right across the middle should put your arm in place as well).
what bushings are you running on your vanguard, i have a flex 2, with randal 180's and O'tang In Heats, standard bushings in the trucks and i can get a little more distance out of it, but the motion is so hard, theres so liveliness in the trucks! feels like im pushing a giant sponge
Got Venom Supercarves (double-cone). I got wheel bite even with the angled risers I bought and fell off lol. I moved the wheelbase back and inch, and its all fine now on my stand on it and lean test.
wait i have a sector 9 Lanikea bamboo seris. i wanted to get a vangourd or dervish. i was wondering when you pump is it like carving tight and going up and down? or what?
You can't just "explain" how to pump. It's really complex. You basically have to figure it out on your own. Just keep on watching videos of people and then try to replicate it
I just got my longboard a couple of days ago and I've been trying to learn how to pump ever since. Do you have any tips? i hear that the type of decks don't matter, but wheels and trucks do.
No, it's not... longboarding you have to transfer your energy using your weight and arms/abs as support to power it. I taught myself a while back, so yeah, ignore the comment down there. But I've tried a waveboard. You can just use your feet and it's a different motion. You'd probabyl get worse at pumping using those.
can u do flats?

good start to pumping, but i notice that you're emphasizing the up and down motion a bit too much in relation to the side to side

Buying advice plz? I am looking at 2 Orangatang In Heats on my nose and 2 4Prez's on my tail for sliding, good buy?
blainey25 2 years ago
if you've ever ridden a rip-stick pumping is some what like that
ChungFat4eva 2 years ago
you do as the name says, you pump to the toeside/heelside edges, but don't lean too much to the side, you just put some pressure quickly.

Isosohungy 3 years ago
you can pump any board i think, just as long as your trucks are loose. Pumping is basically a gyrating movement from your whole body.
rsantos1989 3 years ago
hey what flex are you riding? 4? thanks a lot, just got a vanguard so im trying to learn the motions.
solais01 3 years ago
thats sick dude. how long have you been on a longboard?
itsdarellcuh 3 years ago
at the point the video was made, maybe 2 months.
iskalla1 3 years ago
caneyou do that with a normal slipstream/ sectornine board?
drummorfar 3 years ago
with stock components its probably rather difficult.
iskalla1 3 years ago
why? is it becuase the board is not good enough or is it the trucks?
drummorfar 3 years ago
its the trucks. i believe any board is pumpable with the right trucks.
iskalla1 3 years ago
i have gullwing chargers, wats ur opinon on them when it comes to pumping?
SMORGS13 2 years ago
they are fine, as long as you dont run them too tight.
iskalla1 2 years ago
vanguards are excellent for pumping. i got a pintail and its near impossible to get a good pump
FLip8822 3 years ago
vanguards arent that great for pumping actually. pintails should be just as good, or better. trucks also make a huge difference though!
iskalla1 3 years ago
are you swedish?

pumping on a longboard is pretty equal to pumping on a waveboard.
when you can pump a waveboard you should be able to pump a longboard.(but there are also many other ways to pump)

as i said, there are many other ways to pump
but i can pump longest when i'm pumping like on a waveboard. you can also pump by swinging your arms or by using the flex to bounce yourself forward.
