I am a 21 year old caucasian vocal student. I have always loved gospel music and have sung in a gospel style. This has never sat well in my midwestern suburban area. I just discovered Mahalia Jackson and her voice made me quake and brought me to tears. I have never heard such a haunting soulful voice. I could just hear her true love for christ in her voice. They don't make singers like her now!
