I like to hear the distinct notes - maybe it comes from too much listening to professional recordings of Bach . . . but I do appreciate a bit of clarity. Which is not really present in this recording. Certainly unusual though, makes a change I suppose.
WOW! This sounds really authentic. It's making me re-think Purcell's approach to his compositions. He must have taken into account the echoes and wavey washy natural reverb from the large halls his music would be played in just like we hear it here. It's a beautifully harmonious sloppy mess because of the echo. The tempo and legato phrasing really enhance the echo. Notice it? It simply must be what he intended because it would have sounded just like we're hearing it now.
I am happy to tell you that New Trinity Baroque will visit Serbia this Summer, as Belgrade is going to be part of our European Tour. We plan be there from July 29 to August 2, 2008! :-)
Fantasticne vesti! Dolazim sigurno!
The Music at the Cathedral of St. Philip in Atlanta is some of the best you will EVER hear. Come visit and hear the Evensong Mass and Eucharist on Sundays at 4pm (Sept-May) and the Organ recitals each Sunday afternoon at 3:15pm...Give yourself a musical treat...
