the reason you cant capture mr iommi's sound is numerous reasons, one reason is simply, the settings on his amp and guitar, also he has his guitar either tuned down or uses thin strings to ease the pain of his fingers, he has homemade prostectics on his fingers because of a factory accident cutting them off, the story is very long, so tuning the guitar down makes it sound dommier or different or depends on the song

You know it could even be the old cables and old 70's wall sockets that didn't carry as much conductivity as today? Iommi didn't down-tune,(on this album),but I've heard he used banjo strings.He actually started out using a white stratocaster,(you hear in 'wicked world'),but it broke which is when he switched to the legendary SG gibson.

I've seen people on youtube to actual musicians in bands that use the SG Gibson and try to capture Iommi's tone..but can't? why is it soo hard? you can get the guitar,the vintage laney tube amps,the wah pedal and even the guitar strings that Iommi used and still his sound cannot be duplicated..amazing!

Its all about amp settings. People dont know them. The closest way is to turn up the bass and treble, but to completely take out the mid range. That'll make it a BIT closer.

The way the act,look and sound can never be duplicated..it has something to do with the sound you get from those orange amps and vintage insturments.
