  • who said boy scouts didn't know shit ?

  • I think that this is such a good idea that you ought to produce something like this and market it!

  • @alanheath Thanks.

Is that Red Square behind you in your user photo?

  • @chuvak1 Yes, it is Red Square! I use this picture in my professional profile too!

  • This is the greatest invention since Viagra. The string seems to stand up at a moments notice. Thank you my friend.

  • Have you got the same tip for a steadycam ?

  • this is so practical... but i feel like a retard using it in public

  • @xAVERAGeGENTLEMEnX The ever-present dilemma of form over function.

  • haha great :D

  • Nice tip - thanks for sharing!

  • I would laugh my ass off if some bird watcher tilted up too quickly to capture some egret flying overhead, forgot to step off the washer, and had his whole rig jerked out of his hands and smashed on the ground. Other than that, good trick, just have to be real careful with your movements!

  • Really nice and simple! I love it!

  • I've gotta try this!! Thank you :D

  • Has anyone tried this for stabilizing video?

  • @tremulinasforgotten , yeah i tried , and result are much better then i expected , well not as good as a tripod , but if you can;t use use tripod this will work...!!!

  • When I saw the parts, I knew whre this was going. Amazingly simple, simply amazing.! :thumbs up:

  • nice panning

  • wow

  • Great little tip. Will definitely try this out. Thanks for posting!

  • i love u man, nice job

  • Ingénieux

  • ahahahah genius XD

  • Are you really trying to make me believe that you got the result you show at the beginning of the video? seriously?

  • @potoche2007 no that was a tripod stupid

  • That's ingenious.

  • Bloody genius!

  • Great idea and thank you for sharing.

  • Nice

  • @SuperChromonica270DX Okay. Thanks. I think.

  • @chuvak1 SuperChromonica270DX says:

"A product with the same concept existed during the Showa Era (Reign of Emperor Hirohito, but typically refers to the post war period of his reign). It's nostalgic."

You are likely to get many messages in Japanese. Yahoo! Japan have highlighted your video in an article. Copy and paste this and it should get you to the article "三脚を使わずカメラの手ぶれを防ぐ裏技" (It says: a trick to prevent camera shake without a tripod).

  • @anjonjp Thank you for the explanation.

  • あなたは本当に天才ですね!!!!!!!

    いいアイデアをありがとう

    Translation↓

    You're a genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!b(`∀´)b

    Thanks for the good idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • haha this is awesome

  • its so helpfull...thx bro

  • Pretty cool. Thanks for tip! Peace! :D

  • Hey this is good stuff. I used to try and lean on objects to stabilize the camera. but now i could try this and get the shots i want.

  • i tried this and my camera blew up.

  • @mertkcu lol

  • now how to stabilise mobile camera????

  • @saurabhaj Use 2 hands to hold it, keep your arms close to your torso and practice.

  • @0ctobit thanks for telling your experince..

  • thats really nice, thanks mann

  • good tip

  • Thumbs if u watched nd u dont have a camera :P

  • Thats Awesome!

  • YOU SYMBOLIZE HOPE

  • I still have to try this, but seriously, you made me grin by the simplicity and just plain ingeniousness to this. Hats off to you Sir. :D

  • Dude i love the way you do all these DIY experiments, the shots, your voice, the explanation everything is great! i just made a fish eye lens!

  • brilliant

  • isn't all you need is a strap to your shoulder? I mean the point of this thing is so your hands can apply force in just one direction, and not worry about keeping it in one position, which is why our hands shake - holding the camera in one position. But if you can have a strap that stretches from your shoulder or something, then wouldn't that have the same effect?

  • @DERFVEDA I think that would help a little, but your shoulder moves around a lot. The ground isn't going anywhere. Some people have suggested tying the string to your belt. I think that would be even better than your shoulder, but maybe not as stable as the ground.

  • @chuvak1 you're probably right. I'm no camera expert. It's just that it's a little inconvenient to carry a long piece of rope everywhere you go. In my experience, long rope = tangled knot. Plus, it would be really hard to adjust the length of the rope.

  • @chuvak1 Privet Chuvak! Nice, hadn't seen that one, instantly I thought why not make 2 strings, and stand on them. Then when you pull up, you are pulling up against a triangle for added stability.

  • @DERFVEDA Not sure if i've missunderstood your concept, but if you had a shoulder strap wouldn't is have to be very short in order to have the tension because the distance form our face/eye and shoulder isnt very far. That would leave u having ur camera on a very short strap on your shoulder which i imagine would be quite awkward...lol..unless you put it on and off constantly...which i also think is a bit of a bother.

  • Thanks for posting this, I'm going to try it!

  • this is a genius idea, you should definitely patent this man,, will make a fortune

  • Very instructive. I would personally use Para cord. I may stretch a bit but it would last longer over the string used. no offense.

  • Tension as a stabilizer isn't anything new. I often wrap my camera strap tightly around my elbow to create vertical tension while shooting freehand. You could use a bungee of some sort to give you a few inches of leeway to lean over or stand straighter possibly. You could also add another washer in the middle set for a kneeling shot as well for a little more versatility. This is a very useful tool and brilliantly inexpensive.

  • now my penis is much bigger than before, thank you image stabilizer

  • I saw this video embedded and came here fulling expecting to see a Macguyver comment as one of the top comments. I was not disappointed.

  • @UhhNegative It sounds like you belong here. We'd be happy to have you as a subscriber.

  • @UhhNegative By the way, there are plenty more MacGuyver comments and coool tricks in my other videos.

  • no thanks, i'd rather have blurry photos than look like a retard

  • Somebody could patent this probably

  • wow

  • This is genius! Thanks!

  • I have know that, have a cord fastened to the tripod socket, in this home I cannot be bothered wit any such and have no trpods nw, just freehand shooting with my workhorse Olympus 2100 UZ, Harold

  • Dude, you should get a patent on that one!

  • But tripods don't get tangled :/

  • Macgyver of photography. Thanks heaps for the tip mate, great idea =]

  • nice1

  • Hey Im an eagle scout too! :)

  • why did u do the video you could have sold those :D

  • @namari94 I guess I am too generous... either that or too lazy.

  • You should have shot a without stabilizer and with stabilizer video so we could see what it looks like.

  • @ReflexEight What do you mean?

  • @Physicx17 Record a video without the stabilizer and another video using the stabilizer so we can see the difference.

  • @ReflexEight He did in the start

  • @Physicx17 One was a video, the other was a picture.

  • @ReflexEight Ok

  • very smart! thanks for sharing ^^

  • you could tie the washer end of the string to a belt loop instead of the washer. Then when you are done you just put the string(shortened) and bolt into your pocket. Take it out of your pocket when you need it . It will always be attached to the belt loop until the end of the day.

  • my tie isnt very nice...wish i was an eagle scout

  • @exo26921 Really?

  • @chuvak1 Yeah, you can totaly see that its not a real string! Mega fake!

  • Thanks! Me And My Friends can make Cooler and more stable camera movements

  • Fucking macgyver. Someone get this man a beer and a blow job ASAP!!

  • Thanks... I never would have thought of that. Great idea!

  • THANK YOU!

  • Nice work, thanks for sharing!

  • Bravo!

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant!

  • Now if you just tie it to your pants instead of a washer, it doubles as a belt!

  • amaazing. thanks!

  • you should think about getting a paintent on this, people would buy something along those lines like a trap that goes around your foot, its simple but genius

  • Damn dude, so cooool! Thanks!

  • damn that's a nice knot

  • i like the Metacafe shirt on a Youtube video ahah

  • @diogo21gs This video was created for Metacafe, as were many of my other videos. This one went super viral on metafe. That was pretty cool. It picked up 100k views in 2 hours. On youtube it has not been quite so popular. Too bad.

  • @chuvak1 looks like its gone viral now :)

  • sounds promising.

  • A real shoe-string tripod, eh!

    Prr-tshh!!!

  • I have a medical condition that makes me shakey. This makes a tremendous difference for me. I had pretty much given up on photography because of having to use a tripod all of the time was such a nuisance. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! All of the people with negative comments should spend more time thinking about the possible benefits of something and less about how they can complain about it. :-)

  • wow.. more stable than Hollywood crap movies amateur equipment... do you sell it? i want two of those

  • Isn't this similar to a monopod?

  • @TechnexLOL Yes, but it hold the camer down instead of holding it up.

  • This is one of those, "Why didn't I think of that ideas"

    Simply BRILLIANT!

  • So simple and yet it really helps minimize camera shakes

  • wow good!!!

  • eagle scout? nice, i just stared and im a tenderfoot

  • You look like Manu Ginobili

  • This is genius!

  • OMG!!! Brilliant!

  • What's not to love about something so simple... and that actually works too!

  • Awesome going to try this out!

  • shutter speed at least three f stops? excuse me?

  • Great idea...who would have thought...I will have to try this! Thanks!

  • Love it! Going to try this.

  • Not a bad idea but I'll stick with my Cam Caddie Scorpion. $38 well spent and all of my videos have drastically improved since. I can also attach lights and mics with my camera all at once. Check it out if you need better results.

  • You're like a MacGyver who makes useful stuff!

  • @thebloodbrothersfour Thanks, but are you saying that all that stuff Macguyver makes is not useful?

  • tripodbuyingguide(.)com for excellent tripod reviews!

  • Very nice !!!

  • If this was such a bad idea, why is Steadepod selling this exact same thing for $25.00?

Sure theirs is prettier, but for $24.00 less you can build your own.

  • @SeanPee911 Fair enough, but my photos look good. Function over form.

  • @chuvak1 Cool!

  • @chuvak1 actually u dont look retarded, since I used this fully out in public

people did look at me, and were cautious to not to get in the way

but none looked at me wierdly, some even admired me for such geniousness

lol sorry, but I did take the credit for the stabalizer

  • @SeanPee911 You... are an ass hole.

Anyway, i thought it was actually pretty clever. I bet people would be kind of impressed that it worked so well.

  • You are Genius!

  • can i use some hot glue to seal the strings?

  • @pokemon2487 sure.

  • AWESOME

  • Kipkay did the same thing!

  • This so cool

  • good idea

  • omg thats genius!!! awesome job

  • oh wow.

  • that's genius and simple!

    2 very enthusiastic thumbs up!!

  • Hmm, no one told you, but modern cameras already have image stabilizers... and you reduce significantly the possibility of tripping on this cord and crash your camera...

  • @stanhauser hmmm, no one told you, but not everyone has a rich mommy and daddy to buy them a fancy stabilized lens. some of us have to work for our shit and it pays to be creative.

  • @wwwzenwww I have myself a relatively cheap camera, a Canon Powershot G9 (the best point and shoot ever) which I bought with my own work, dude. Hmm, no one told you that even smaller cameras like my own do have a stabilizer system? They have, and guess what? Idiots proof!

If you are so poor, go to a Lomo. There are lots of people making very nice images, and maybe you could even try this cordilizer :-D

You won't have to work so hard to get one if you brake it, after all...

  • @stanhauser That is one of the dumbest comments ever. I own a 1400$ Camera, on which i sometimes use a 800$ lens, guess what, no stabilizer.... Old gear? No, just released last November. This string idea, is pure genious. Do i want a stabilizer, yes, will i pay a further 1200$ for it, No.

  • @FacerDk If you bought it last November, it is probable that your camera has a very sensitive sensor. Unless your lenses are really dark, or unless you are trying to photograph sports in Africa during a blackout after midnight, you won't need a stabilizer, especially a dangerous one. Anyway, it is your money if you need to pay for a crashed camera. Think it works for you? Go for it !

By the way, which camera you bought?

  • @stanhauser Hiya, its a D7000, the lens i talked about is the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8.

Now i do own a few stabilized lenses, and yes, your right, there is mostly no need for it, since i can push it to ISO 1600 and the lens is 2.8. Still, sometimes, i would like to shoot at say f/8 since the sharpness is better, and it would help the scene, in those situations, this setup might actually help, guess I will know tomorrow when i go to test the "string theory" :-)

  • @FacerDk

    I realize it's a D7000, but ISO 1600? Sounds gross.
