480 was rare, some folks love it, but it was the worst Volvo ever. (that means, its just an average car)

They rusted around the foldable headlights, and those front light units also had electrical problems. Everything else taken from the 440/460 was just perfect ;)

1. The "places" around the headlight were not made from metal but from fibreglass, fibreglass can't rust!

2. The 480 was introduced in 1986, the 440 in '88 and the 460 in 1992!

But yes, it was one of the worst Volvo's ever build.

Now, Listen! You're all over reacting about this. This is the 1st car in the world to stop it's self and is affordable. give them some slack if there are faults in the system! You create one that not only is up to snuff with the IIHS and the NTSB, but with European Union and Asian restrictions! People shouldn't complain that it's stupid or not safe. IT IS MADE FOR SPEEDS UNDER 20 MPH, hence the name (perfect for cities like NYC). So, if you have a better system on hand, contact me about this.

this is a great thing to have on all vehicles and I wish it was already on all of the vehicles now because my wife was hit in the rear end at 50 mph couple yrs ago by a woman tending to her kids at that time of the accident .

my wife survived but the ford focus did not but the ford focus did what it was suppose to do.

good thing your not an engineer, im sure the computer is designed/programmed to not only notice the object in front, but to also plug in the objects speed vs. the car your in. it plugs that data into an algorithm, and according to specific results, it then decides if it needs to stop.

Some of you need a wake up call. The car only stops when the radar in front detects the car in front. (Not the side) And it only works at low speeds not the highway. I should know, I just drove one.
