I like Greg, over Armstrepo, any old day. I don't feel bad for Greg, at all. He's accomplished allot and if it hadn't been for his accident, he would have had two or three more TDF, victories. Greg, doesn't have x-teammates coming out of the woodwork saying he cheated all those years of rein either.
Lemond, hands down the best American cyclist of all time. Hampsten, is the most dedicated American rider to ever win the Giro.
The guy quit the tour cuz he couldn't find the Dope he could use not to be caught using The reason he cannot believe Lance is because he Knows what he did and he thinks everyone does what he did...too bad they don't have samples a and b from his days racing..bet he would be on the hot seat right now...
this was the year that that he truly sees the impact of drugs (epo, igf-1, hgh, etc.) Seems like he wants to scream out how dirty the sport has become.

@Powerfulmantha i"ve never heard a teammate accuse Lemond of Doping, i"ve never heard of a rival accuse Lemond of doping. So unless you have any proof! stop talking shit...
He was a great champion, but he brought his failures upon himself. He is now a sad, bitter ex-racer. Armstrong replaced his the greatest American cyclist and he crying about doping. He went from winner to loser.
I have to call bullshit on your simplistic character sketch of Greg LeMond.
If you see him in 1985, giving up his chance of winning for his leader and mentor Bernard Hinault, and then in 1986 being betrayed by that slimy ass French frog, but Steve Bauer helping propel him to victory, and then overcoming a shot gun hit and in 1989 winning the Tour by 8 seconds with both heart and technology, and then again in 1990 to show it was no fluke. LeMond's story is a true cycling saga.
@nightowl8936 In 85 he was following orders not giving up his chance to win. 86 he was on his game. He has no one to blame for the hunting accident but himself. You must always be aware of where other hunters are. Without other teams helping him in 89, he would have lost because his team was weak. 90 was a good win. My main point is that when everyone exceeding his record he cried "Cheaters" none of the others great champions hated on the them. Hinault, Indurain, Fignon, Roche, Delgado did not
I bumped into him a week after this in Minnesota not knowing that he had dropped out. A great guy who knew what happened to cycling and was not afraid to fight to clean the sport up.
I cant say like or dislike LeMond...I still cant believe he has the fastest TT in the Tour..Even Cancellara could not beat his time...It hust doesnt add up..
the reason why Lemond TT speed average in 89 was so good is because it was only 25 kms, & the terrain was flat & almost downhill. Think. In your mind Lance average speed came close but it was 200 kms going uphill. Lemond quit the tdf when he was already old but Lance quit in his very first TdF. Back when Lance was winning it all except TdF. Therefore Lance quit while in his prime. Lance disappeared for 2 years & voila won everything. Go figure. Google Lance's team mate Greg Strock.
He was regularly beating Cat1 riders when he was 15... Obviously without doping. The adults at the time were blown away by his ability. (I was there.) He has one of the highest VO2 levels ever recorded. Put those facts together and do the math. The man was born to be a champion, naturally. There is no evidence he ever doped, and a lot that he did not.
Greg LeMond's average speed in the time trial, 54.545 km/h, was the fastest in Tour de France stage history; since then, only the 1994 prologue has been faster.[1
On a boat anchor with aero bars? What proof does he have that he was clean? Many others were doping at this time. Testing was very easy to beat back then.
Clearly he could have been using performance enhancing substances. Greg should be asked to prove that he did not dope during his three tours.
i dont think greg or any of them are innocent..but in a sense i dont really give a crap..its not like i myself can control it..renualt like i said had worked with one of the evil dr;s...this is when lemond and fignon was there, even hinualt the year before..i love cycling..i dont agree with doping but i just wish people would stop talking about it..its turned into a soap opera, like i said for alot of cyclist..its either take the dope, or go back to a farm or some shity job, family struggling
i think it`s great we also see the other side of cycling, cause he didn`t want 2 play dirty to win the tour ! those day`s were the EPO days and he didn`t wanted to play that way !
well with all due respect to you, lemond rode in renault suring the time of nabuse the vet dr..that whole team that year dominated everything..no one knows for sure..but sometimes its guilt by assosiaction...i love these people who assume this person is clean and that one isnt (just because they like them) cycling is a job..and in thier minds its either take this dope to stay with the othe riders, or go back to blue collar shitty work with no cash..NO i dont approve, but i understand it.
Lemond won three Tour De France championships on the square - a great victory in itself on top of his three great victories. He also paid the price for speaking truth to power but these days things have swung around more his way, fortunately for fans who want a level playing field. Enough of these team "doctors" and their "creative" programs.
...was a great time, did start doing this sport late in the 80ies as a teenager and got so much motivation from his tour de france races..bought his book too hehe. wished i could get back in this time, was so much freedom and lots of hours in the nature.
@SkyJamMusicVideos Not only that, Lemond faced a dynasty of incredible riders in his era.... compared to Armstrong. Lemond put the US on the map in the cycling world.
@SkyJamMusicVideos Greg was doping it was the testing that was so far behind that they would never catch him. He is just pissed because he was never that good.
@bampie1 Lemond NEVER doped! Don"t you think Armstrong & his idiot asslicking posse would of found something! Nothing is on Lemond... FACT Greg had miles more natural talent than Lance EPO Armstrong..
A great rider but I think Lemond is jealous of Armstrong success. Maybe it's because Lemond never had same market success and popularity as Armstrong. Lemond doesn't seem to be as well known in sports as Armstrong.
You were a great fighter but it was your last tour...You had what you´ve had...Still remember Lemond win the tour way back in 89. I am a french man, and I was angry...But I have much respect. This guy is way more sympathic than Armstrong
People critisize Greg, but man, he was right on when he talks about doping and those at the top. I admire him, he is the pioneer in American Cycling. I have alot of respect for him and his wife

And during this exact moment, LA was popping needles, plotting his way to win the Tour de France with the assistance of medical science.

Yeah i have to agree. Professional cycling is a job. It's either go back to club racing or dope like the rest of the guys.
Today, LeMond shows how much he is against doping. It seems to me is could just be a cover up.
We will never know.
Call me weird but I consider the weak riders in the pro tours as the clean riders.
