To me Embryionic Stem cell research just doesnt seem like a long term success strategy because you are putting foreign, or alien material into the body (embryonic stem cells have their own DNA and come from ANOTHER genetic line not your own) wouldn't it be better to enhance the production, release, transportation and migration and replication of your own healthy adult stem cells which already exist in your bone marrow.

See this is what ticks me off! We are in a financial crisis and yet we have money to back up research that does not work! We wasted so much money on research that has yet to help us in its ten years of existence. We knew for the longest time that adult research was helping people and we put money on embryonic. Shoot we need to put that money into adult stem cells and stop wastin money we don't have that luxury anymore!

The statement by Dr. Oz (cardiac surgeon, not stem cell scientist) incorrectly implied that there is no cancer risk with iPS cells, when in fact both ES and iPS cells can lead to tumors. Federal funding for the derivation and study of ES cells will be critical to the advancement of regenerative biomedical research.

Aren't adult stem cells even harder to turn into OTHER more specialized cells?? How could they possibly be more successful at it than embryonic? And furthermore, I implore all adult-stem cell-only proponents to PROVE it. Where are the studies suggesting only adult stem cells work? Surely there must be SOMETHING to come out of embryonic.

And furthermore, I'm so glad this debate is over in America, essentially. It was silly and frivolous to oppose embryonic. They're just cells!

Dr. Oz has guts. To state the truth in front of a liberal audience and host like that? I'm certain he didn't brief Oprah's producers on that answer or they would have canceled his appearance or smeared his reputation so they could laugh it off.

What are u, an Obama knocker? Did you pay attention to the words Dr. Oz used? He clearly said, 'he believes' and that's not a statement of certainty. I'm Christian and I want the cures to be found in adult stem cells because embryos shouldn't be created for experiment. However, if they are going to be discarded anyway we might as well use them constructively. hopefully we'll have certainty regarding the adult cells' healing capabilities so that Obama can reinstate the ban on the embryonic cells

Embryonic stem-cell research is, arguably, as viciously protected as macro evolution; which was originally suggested by Charles Darwin.

Well, at least in my opinion it is.

People have a tendency to link proven methods, which could to be supported by morality, as Christian-concocted schemes.

IF Parkinsons or ANY other disease was CURED by using these cells by another country ie the EU.

And YOU could be CURED if you took the medication.

i also feel eugenics plays a big role. the "designer baby". something we can contrast to the fact that the soviets and nazis embraced. "breeding out" the "inferior". they want to play God.

Embryonic stem-cells are said to be the cure for many of the incurable (and terminal) diseases that plague us as humans.

It is also true that there are host supplied, or "adult", stem-cells which could also be a cure.

What it comes down to scientifically (for those who do not support ethics) is test trial results from both of these types.

Embryonic stem-cells have had no proven trials; while "adult"-cells have had repeated success.
